What Does Lap Band Mean To Your Partner?
NewMeDebbie replied to NewMeDebbie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thank you!! You should post this on the blog as a comment so he can see it! I'm sure he would love the compliment! And, I'm not sure I could do all this on my own if he wasn't as supportive as he is. he does make it easier...He's a keeper! New blog coming soon about thanksgiving week though...I gained 3 lbs!! -
Any other September 2013 bandsters?
NewMeDebbie replied to Irishflower79's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
you will get there! Keep up the good work! I focus on 2 16oz bottles of water a day then I refill them. this way I know I am getting the 8 8oz that I need but I have a tough time also. It seems I want to eat mostly until lunch time then after lunch I focus on water until dinner. I am hoping this will help me with the afternoon cravings as well since I am so waterlogged...lol Water gets easier the more you do it... -

Yes, I ate a 1/2 bag of peanut M&Ms over the weekend since it was raining for 3 days here and all i could do was play on the computer and clean house... I did notice that broccoli is going down harder now than it did before the 2nd fill...Why can't the M&Ms be a trouble food that won't go down? LOL they are going to be the death of me.... I still lost 1.4 lbs this week though so I guess all is not lost -
I think the amount depends on you personally and how much it takes to cause the food to "trickle" thru the band at the right speed. Good luck with your fill.

didn't you have fluid put in your band when you had your surgery? maybe that's the difference? How much do you have total at this point? -

Are you noticing more restriction and being satisfied longer after the 2nd fill? more so than the 1st? It seems I can eat about the same but I am staying full longer now. -

you won't really notice a difference until you start eating solid food again. The restriction is great for the 1st week...at least for me it was after my 1st fill then it got easier and i didn't stay full as long. I will let you know after tomorrow how the 2nd fill goes. -
Stuck Today.....first Time
NewMeDebbie replied to ineed2dothis4me's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Getting stuck is part of the learning process I think. I believe you need to go through it at least once and I'm sure we will all go through it more than once! Scrambled eggs did it for me also once. Now I pay attention to how i cook them making sure they don't get over-cooked until too dry. The moister they are, the lower the risk of blockage...in my opinion... As far as I fill, your doctor will probably tell you, getting stuck isn't the same as the restriction from a fill. Fills help us get to the green zone to control our appetite and satiety. Getting stuck is just about eating too fast or not chewing well...most of the time. I have been stuck 3 times and I have had 2 fills as of today... Keep your focus, you will be fine by tomorrow -

yes it does! And putting it in the microwave dries it out and makes it harder to go down... -

well my 2nd fill went fine. My band is doing well, no signs of damage or slippage. Doc put 2 cc's in this time for a total of 5 cc's now. Now for the fun fluids for the rest of the day....blahhh LMAO! 3rd Fill is scheduled for 12/19 - right before the xmas holidays. So now I'm covered for Thanksgiving and Christmas - I hope -

What Does Lap Band Mean To Your Partner?
NewMeDebbie replied to NewMeDebbie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
In my opinion, Being in a relationship means giving that person everything they need to be happy. It's up to them to decide what that is... Communication is key to keeping you both on track with making each other happy. It's no picnic...My boyfriend is a fast food junkie! But I have learned little tricks to help... When your partner goes to the store, ask her to bring you something healthier like a Protein bar instead of candy bar...She gets to treat you and you still get to enjoy that "snack" together without the damage...lol At night when we watch a movie, he likes his popcorn, I make this for him but then I grab my sugar free chocolate pudding. I'm still snacking with him just not ruining my new lifestyle. This is a learning time for all of us, our partners included. We just need to find a new way to do things... Wishing everyone success in life, love and lapband... -

It really is a balancing act... We have to watch our portion sizes, make sure to get enough protein, get enough water, and it seems keeping your calories around 1100 give or take... This takes some practice and it will take us all time to figure it all out. I've been eating 1 packet of low sugar oatmeal for breakfast, an apple for snack, progresso light soup for lunch or go out for something (keep it around 200-250 cal), cottage cheese (4.5 oz) or greek yogurt for afternoon snack (or a protein bar but those are higher in carbs). Then I eat a sensible dinner, whatever I cook for the boyfriend and me. Using a small plate. I measure dinner using my hand, not measuring cups. My palm is my meat and my fist is the amount of veggies. If I have rice or pasta with dinner I keep it to a VERY small portion (approx. 1/8 c). In the evening I will have a sugar free chocolate pudding to help with my chocolate cravings. I have begun to look forward to that little pudding all day and NOT go to the vending machine for the peanut M&Ms that call my name...lol I think in time it will become 2nd nature, it just takes practice. This is a whole new lifestyle for me and I don't do change well but I am learning each week from you guys and by trial and error... -

Yes I knew better... and I'm usually not a morning person, I don't eat until around 9am, but we were in a hurry to go out exploring and I was told we could go see the wild mustangs here in the desert which is one of my favorite things. Unfortunately, my rush thru breakfast backfired and we got a late start anyway because I had to wait until it came unstuck! miserable....lesson learned!! -

I had a really bad day saturday with microwave turkey sausage and scrambled eggs. I wasn't all the way awake and cooked both too dry and was in a hurry to eat so we could get going for the day when wham!! I was miserable and it took 30 minutes for the stuck 'whatever' to come unstuck and come up! And I eat the same thing for breakfast at least a few times a week. it was just not thinking...getting too comfortable and not paying attention. This is a new lifestyle and it has a wonderful way of reminding us if it decides to slip our mind for a sec...lol -

Non Scale Victories "nsv"
NewMeDebbie replied to NewMeDebbie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get my 2nd fill on Thursday, I am hoping it will help get me where I stay satisfied longer but obviously my band and me are doing our jobs even if the scale isn't doing its job...lol But I know if will I just have to be patient. It is awesome to have this place to come talk to all my fellow bandsters to vent to or share my stories with or just look for advice...So THANK YOU so much for being here with me!!! -
