    So close!!!

    Good luck!
  2. I'm in the same boat. I finished all my pre-op testing on Oct. 30th. My doctor's office said I should be hearing from them sometime this week. I am excited and nervous all at the same time. I am only believing that everything will work out. Honestly, one of my biggest concerns is how to deal with all the holiday stuff that will be coming up. Good luck to everyone!

    FIRST CONSULATION

Congratulations with your first consultation. Each office is different and has different protocols. I didn't like the experience I had at the first office I went to, so I scheduled an appointment with a different doctor at a different hospital. I am much happier there. I suggest you bring a notebook and take notes if you start to feel overwhelmed. You may even want to write a list of questions you would like to ask so you make sure everything is covered with your visit. Good luck!!
  4. I just had my final round of pre-tests and am now waiting for insurance approval and a surgery date. I want to use the time to find some liquid or chewable vitamins that I will like. I am guessing that right after surgery liquid is the best way to go and then I wiil be able to switch to chewable. I already have a chewable gummy multivitamin that is no problem, so I am really looking for a liquid multivitamin. Many reviews say they taste terrible, but I guess everyone has different tastes. Any recommendations?
  5. Congratulations on getting your band!! Here's to a speedy recovery from the surgery!! Good luck!
  6. I know how you feel. I go for my final appointment on the 30th and then my paperwork goes to the insurance company for approval. Good luck!
  7. If you are concerned about the timing of the surgery, you can always postpone it until January. If you had to follow a three month diet, you probably wouldn't be able to have the surgery until then anyway. Good luck!

    Talking to my PCP

I think you will be in a better place to speak to your pcp if you wait until after you go to an information seminar. This way, you can go to your pcp showing that you are doing research about the surgery. The weminar should also give you some facts that you will be able to share with your pcp. Good luck!!

    Lying About LapBand

I am just starting this journey and I have told 5 people. My plan is to tell people right before or right after I go in for the surgery. I have lost and gained weight so many times in my life that while I am on the supervised diet nobody will even think twice. Once I have to take off work for surgery, then I will tell. Of course, it is quite possible I will change my mind between now and then, but I am proud of myself for admitting that I need help to lose the weight and I shouldn't be embarrassed about that.
  11. Hi everyone!! I just discovered this site and I am very excited. I am still in the research phase of my weight loss journey. I have been to a few information seminars, read a few books and have my initial surgical consultation in 2 weeks. I was hoping some of you might share why you chose the sleeve as opposed to the other wls options out there. I was originally 100% sure I was going to get the band, but now I am about 50-50 with band or sleeve. It will come down to the doctor's recommendation and what insurance says. But I was hoping some of you could share how you made your decisions so it might help me. Thanks!!
  12. Hi ladies! So funny I just came across this. I am on Long Island and have been to 4 information sessions over the last few weeks. I still haven;t chosen a surgeon, but I have an appointment with Dr. Angstadt and with Dr. Gadaleta. I figure two opinions is worth it since I am still bouncing back and forth between sleeve and band. Good luck everyone!!
  13. How did you like the office? I have my first appointment with Dr. Powers on Wednesday. I really like the Syosset facility but I am a bit nervous because I know they do more band procedures than sleeves.
