Hi all, Just want to share a quick story. I was banded on 8/7. For the last 3 weeks I've been losing a pound here and there but nothing to write home about. I was exercising everyday and following my diet. Incredibly frustrating! I have a very stressful job (social worker for child protection) and my husband and I are adopting our first child who will be born in 8 days. So needless to say, my life had a lot of stress. At work my caseload was getting increasingly stressful so I took off 2 weeks from work before the baby arrives. It's been 1 week since my leave began and I've lost 5 pounds. 2 weeks ago I was struggling to not gain and now I'm down 5 (and exercising 4 days a week not 7). I never before believed the whole "stress makes it harder to lose weight" thing. Let me tell you, I am now a believer!! So if there is anyone out there that can relate to this story, please take the time to take care of yourself...especially after a life changing surgery. Thanks for reading

As anyone had to have their gallbladder removed after being banded? Pretty sure I'm heading down that road. Please share your experience!

That makes me feel a lot better! The baby boy that my husband and I are adopting is going to be born in 13 days so I need to be able to care for him

Hey everyone, Just wanted to share a positive experience. I had my first big outing yesterday since being banded on 8/7/13. Me, my husband, my best friend, and her husband went to a LSU (Louisiana State University) game. I was pretty nervous about it because its typically a long day, lots of walking, lots of drinking, and lots of eating (this is South Louisiana people!) So many questions went through my mind: what am I going to eat, will I be able to keep up with all the miles we will have to walk, how will I deal with everyone around me drinking, what if I start feeling bad, etc. I am happy to report that everything went great! My 2 mile a day walks have really paid off and I was able to drink a Protein shake for Breakfast and lunch and for supper I ate the toppings off of a personal pan pizza (stadium food). For 4th meal I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich from a fast food restaurant and only ate the grilled chicken. I was able to resist the ice cold beer and drank tons of Water. When walking back to the car after the game I had so much energy. I actually wanted to power walk! Can you believe that?! I've come a long way in the last month. I really struggled with the "I just want to be a normal person again". I'm learning my "new normal" and that I can still incorporate elements of my old life into my new way of living. So for those of you who were recently banded, keep your heads up, and know that it will get better. Thanks for reading

Hey everyone, I was banded on August 7. I had my last period about 2 weeks before surgery. I'm definitely late and I was wondering if anyone has experienced the same thing? I'm thinking its due to surgery?

Anyone on My Fitness Pal?

ErinEKirk. Y'all add me!! I love this app!! -
You are not alone! The first two weeks I felt like that. I just wanted to feel "normal" again. My husband works nights and I feel like I had nothing to look forward to. Usually a good meal would make me feel better but obviously that wasnt an option. After I started seeing the scale move and my clothes get looser I started feeling much better. Hang in there. It's worth it!

When did you go back to work?
Erin1985 replied to PuraVida37's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went back one week after. I could have benefited from an additional 2 days off. My incisions were bothered by wearing real clothes and sitting up at my desk all day. -
When did you go back to work?
Erin1985 replied to PuraVida37's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went back a week after my surgery. I'm a social worker so I never know what my day has in store for me. I felt like I should have taken a few more days to let myself recover fully. Sitting straight up for so long made my incisions bleed and I was beyond exhausted. Let yourself heal from surgery. No need to rush it -
How soon after surgery did you go back to work?
