Where are you Spot? To far to meet with all of us? Feel free to meet-up Friday morning at the Tacoma mall, 11:00am. I have some pills now that I dissolve in my mouth so that should take care of the yeast problem. I'm really hoping that will fix the pain in my gut too. I will try to get them all down awhile before bed and see if that helps, Thanks! Tomorrow is pre-op start day!!!! I'm so ready!!
-
Cindy - My doc doesn't allow any milk or lactose product at all during pre-op. Just protein (100% wey) shake, vitamins, and clear liquids only. Everything has to be sugar free but splenda is okay. Maybe that will help the squirts!
-
I called Dr. Oh and they said call my PC but she doesn't work today soooo I called my dentist and he said most likely from intibiotics that I was taking for a UTI and drinking some wine on top of that. I'm picking up a mouth rinse soon so I hope that takes care of it. Hopefully that is what is causing the pain in my esophogus and stomach too. I did some reading on the internet on thrush and it suggested I eat lots of sugar free yogurt to help with the enzyme balance so off to the store I go. Pre-op starts tomorrow so I'm having a 'farewell to food' lunch with some friends today. Nothing feels that good in my throat though, bummer! nbjen - hows the rash? Better?
-
I plan on calling the doctor tomorrow by the way.
-
hey guys - I have had a few rough days. I started my protein and vitamins and have been feeling very nauseous and having pain at the top of my stomach. Tonight my throat started feeling weird, kind of like a tickle but scratchy so I looked down it with a flash light and there are white spots all over it. It could be thrush or yeast or something. I don't have a clue why or where it came from. Have any of you ever heard of this before????
-
have any of you heard of this???? I started having a pain in my stomack and nausea about two days after I started taking my vitamins and Protein drink as part of my pre-ops. Tonight i got this horrible tickle in my throat so I finally looked down it with a flashlight and I think I have thrush or something like that (white spots everywhere) Has anyone heard of this happening before. I have surgery on the 17th and need to get this fixed before then. I will call the doctor tomorrow but thought I would ask you guys too. Help!

Waterlilly - Welcome and it's always good to have people close by. please come and join the walking group this Friday. We could use the inspiration from you! Sue amd Mer - Friday at 11:00 it is! I will meet you at Starbucks.
-
Jessica - I love the list! Thanks for doing it. I can't believe May first is here and I can't believe there isn't anyone on the chart. Thanks by the way for telling me how to get it printed out guys, I'm computer challenged. Best wishes and lots of prayers for all you Wednesday bandsters. Please let us know how it goes and don't leave out the good parts! Knowing is half the battle!
-
sue - I'm okay with changing it to 11:00 if that works better for you. Are you okay with that Merrillee? welcome shellmar! Sounds like things are moving fast for you. It seems that there are quite a few here who go to NWWLS for their bands. Good luck!
-
nimblebean - Do you know if we can copy and print your chart. I tried but it didn't work. Help!
-
NVgirl - nothing like a bladder infection to ruin your plans. I came down with one just as I was doing my pre-ops. Lucky for me I am on antibiotics and should be fine by surgery date. Good luck to you, hope they don't have to change your date. Where do these things come from!? All my biopsys came back normal today so I'm good to go. Thursday is the start of clear liquids for me. I know I can do it because a bunch of you have and we are a team! Go Team!!!

This morning when I was at Dr. Oh's and there was a girl who got her first fill. She couldn't get even one cup down without throwing it up. They took her back in to take some out and then she could get it down. It was good to see that so I know what to expect. There was also a lady who had to have her band taken out because she eroded her esphogus after losing 90 pounds, bummer. the waiting room is the best place to get information and find out what works and what doesn't. I had plenty of time since I waited for an hour! There was another girl who had a fill last week and was there to get more since she didnn't feel any restriction. Interresting . . . Merrillee - let's plan on meeting at Starbucks, 10:am, at the Tacoma mall. There are a few tables there so I should be easy to spot . . . tall, short blond hair, and rather large. Is anyone else going to come??????? We will be walking!
-
Name the time on Friday, lets say Tacoma Mall because then we don't have to worry about weather. Is 10:00am to early?
-
20. So I can put my shoes on without passing out from lack of oxygen while bending over! (maybe a bit exagerated but definately red face and panting) 21. I want to wear shorts and a tank top when I'm hot and not gross people out! I've been gone for a few days and have missed all of you. I'm a bit jealous of all of you who are insurance pay with an early may date but I am wishing you the best of wishes and a quick and easy recovery. Be sure and let us know how it is going for all of you as soon as you can sit up and type. Love the chart! It's fun to see who is on the same day as you. Thank- you!
-
wow - not sure what happened to that post. Does anyone else get a smilie face between every letter when they try and edit? I tried to edit the above post and it went all weird, took out my parragraphs and put them all together with those funny marks. anyone a computer wiz and can explain this?

I'm back! I was gone for the weekend with my sisters and sister-in-law planning a family reunion for about 140 people. They wondered why I was eating so strange so I told them it was a new diet regime with my doctor. I was drinking my protein shakes and taking tons of vitamins. My sister-in-law knows about the surgery and is very supportive but my two sisters are both overweight and would think it was to drastic. This knowing who you can talk to is difficult and I'm still tryng to figure it out. That's why I love coming on here and spending time with like-minded people.

nbjen - you did it! Thanks for sharring about your surgery and recovery! I hope it gets better everyday for you. keep us informed.

Mer & Sue - Friday would be great. If it's sunny then let's walk on Grandview, if windy and rainy then let's walk the Tacoma mall. Could we do ti earlier then 12:00 or is that the best time for you guys. I'm flexible, nothing on the calendar yet.

Druth - welcome! I have come to realize that those of us who are with Dr. Oh have a much more restricted diet pre and post op then anyone else. I'm okay with that though because I am hoping for a significant drop in weight at the beginning to give me the kick I need to keep it up.

Lucy - it sounds like things are going well for you. I love how you guys are so honest with your recovery so I know what to expect. keep us posted and keep up the speedy recovery.

Dawn - welcome and I am right there with you about the jitters. As it gets closer I think I have more mixed feelings about this whole thing. It does me so good to read about the successes of those who have gone before us. I know this is the best option for me but a part of me wishes I could do it with just diet and exercise. Honestly though . . if we could . . .we wouldn't be at the weight we are. So stay real!

Cindy - thanks for the updates, it really gives us hope. You are so encouraging and successful. Thank-you

For anybody else who wants to meet and walk it looks like next Friday something, somewhere, is going to happen. jump in and let us know you are interrested.
-
Mer - sorry you missed us. we got two laps in and checked back at noon just in case you thought that but didn't see you. We will set it up again. Next week I'm good on Wednesday and Friday anytime, but Thursday I have an appt with the internest and I didn't write down the time. I will have to get that from Dr. Oh's office on Monday. Let me know your availability.
-
Cindy = I was just noticing on your post that you have two sleep tests. What is going on? I had one a few years ago and now I sleep with a snore guard. It's much better then a c-pap machine. I was waking up an average of 19 times an hour, no wonder I was soooo tired. I thought I was depressed but it turned out I was just exhausted. Everything is great now, full of energy. Let me know how yours turns out.

had the mocha- mochaccino hot this morning. I added a little hot water from my insta-hot and made a paste and stirred till it was smooth and creamy. Then I added more hot water slowly till it was about the size of a normal hot chocolate. It was yummy and very good for the morning!

phuber40 - I have two different ones that I have been drinking. One I got a while ago at Costco called pro-rated (100%whey + amino acids). I was there today and noticed that they are carrying a different one now (GMC I think). I like the vanilla because I like to add strawberries, blueberries, flavorings, etc. to it and get a change. The one the nutritionist recommended was by 'champion nutrition' called pure whey w/ amino acids. I got the powder cocoa-mochaccino. It tastes a lot like a coffee-mocha from starbucks. She said the important things were the protien should be about 22-23 grams/serving and that it need to be pre-digested. She said something about having the amino acids from that. It can't be milk based or have more then 4-6g. of sugar/serving. Your body cannot absorb more then 30g of protein at a time so try to be as close to that as possible with a total of 90g/day. You also need to drink it with 15-20min. from the time you add water. I tasted a bunch at the nutrition place till I found one I liked. It was very thick and smooth when I made it with the bullet. Hope this helps.
-
Lucy and nbjen - check back in and give us an update when you feel up to it. We only hope the best for both of you.
-
Let's say Tacoma Mall at 11:am. That would be easier for Sue since she will be coming from federal Way. How about at Starbucks by the tables. Wear walking shoes! I've got to get my walk in and we can gab while we walk. I'm not very fast, especially if I'm talking.
-
phuber - Just talked with another friend who was banded April 4th by my same doctor and she is down 24 pounds already. His pre-op and post-op really work!
-
hey guys - the shrink told me today that all the studies show that 3 years out, people who lost 100lbs or more through diet and exercise, have to run 7-8 miles a day to maintain their weight loss. And that is only 2-3 % of dieters who are successful. On the other hand 70% of gastric surgery patients have lost their excess weight and kept it off at the three year mark. Seems like a no brainer to me!
-
phuber40 - I agree, if we could lose weight by dieting then why would we need a lap band???? My surgeon has us start protein loading ASAP then two weeks before surgery we go on a clear liquid diet w/protein shakes. We must have 90g of protein a day plus all our vitamins that we will take after surgery. If you drink three protein shakes a day w/ 1 1/2 scoops per shake then you will get all your 90g. Most people lose a lot of weight on this plus it shrinks your liver which lays on top of your stomach. The protein and vitamin loading helps you heal better, especially the week following surgery when you can only have clear liquids. You can't have your protein or vitamins that week. You might want to try this if it means your surgeon might move your date. Fluffy - how frustrating! The 17th is a good day though, that is when I am having mine.
