    I have been banded!!!

awwee Tina...so sorry....I know it is quite a shock to your system especially after you have had so much anticipation waiting for it!!! It gets better every day and always day two and three are the worst!! Sorry you threw up...that must have felt aweful...try to walk...I know EVERYONE says that...but it really does help...Deanna
  2. well, both of you explained sipping way better than I ever could. I guess that sometimes I do way more than a sip but never do I gulp. I dont know. I am wondering how if you only sip...can they realistically expect you to get in all that water....especially if you have a job where you are on the phone all day or talking to people all day. You cant have a bottle stuck out of your mouth...hey now theres an idea...maybe they could just hook us lapbanders up with an IV and then we wouldnt have to sip all day!!!:biggrin1:

    My port is flipped already!!

my question is this....how if they are suppose to sew the port in place does it get upside down or sideways? I wonder if some doctors are just placing it in and then sewing you up without sewing the port in place. And while on the subject....does anyone think that sit ups could do any harm to the port?
  4. Where I got my band they have a whols staff set up that you meet and talk with like a dietitian, exercise physiologist, the RN who does your fill. The week after your surgery you go back and have your first breakfast with them!! I think that is soo cool...what a way to start into your liquied stage but than with all of your support people!! I cant wait!!Deanna
  5. THere is a really good one called Carb Solutions. I got mine at Albertsons. They have 110 caloried and 21 g protein. That is alot and they TASTE SO GOOD...I tried the EAS and I think they are soooo gross...although I only tried the strawberry kind and not the chocolate kind. I also got some of the ISOPURE drinks and I go the grape frost or something like that...It was fine for about 5 minutes..and then all of a sudden it seemed like I could taste the whey. I dont know...maybe it was because I was thinking about it...Deanna
  6. Get down on all fours and put your head down on the ground with pillow supporting your tummy and the gas MIRACULOUSLY bubbles out!!!!! I am telling you it works. I was in the ER on Thursday thinking I had a blood clot in lung the pain was so intense..ER doc told me this trick...and on Friday..(the next day), which was 1 week 1 day after surgery...I was camping and fishing from the boat!!!!! The best "secret" I think!!! I am going to call my doc. office tomorrow and tell them this secret so they can pass it on!! Deanna

    Horrible Awful!!!!!!

OH LAURA!!!!!!!!!!!! Your the exact one I was talking about!!! I was sooo glad that you were okay! I know that the other gal who had the blood clot posted and then you went to ER!! I am sorry they were not nice to you! The hospital where I ended up going in my home town didnt know anything about the lap band! But that didnt surprise me thats why I went out of town to do this procedure. The ER doc said that he had told someone else to do this with their butt in the air because he had some kind of air something or other...cant remember what he said but anyways.. I have felt so MUCH BETTER since doing it and the gas is coming out!! Not to be graphic BUT BOTH ENDS! FINALLY!!!!!:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: He also said to maybe try Milk of Magnesia to get the digestive track moving to get trapped gas bubbles out of the intestine track. I havent done that yet, but probably will try that tomorrow!! All I know that all the gas is rumbling around all over in my tummy now instead of up in my rib cage! I am glad that you are alright and we were banded a few days apart...Yayyy US!!!!!!! Let me know if the butt in the air helps. It makes sense to me if all this gas is trapped up under rib cage and then always sleeping sitting up at an incline it never has a chance to get moving!! Deanna:)

    Losing Weight Fast

Sweet THang...we are band sisters!! I had mine on the 19th as well!! YOU GO GIRL!! I am a full time student and I dont work (hubby does that for me) LOL...anyways hope to talk to you again and we should keep in touch ..you know, we have a common interest....APRIL 19th!!! I dont know how much I have lost since surgery if any, but I lost 10 lbs on presurgery diet!! I own a scale but I already had a GOOD LONG TALK with myself about not using it excessively. I am going to doctor on Thursday for one week post op so I am excited to see if any weight loss. I also know from reading EVERYTHING in site that the weight loss MAY turn to gain when returning to "NORMAL" food again and that this six weeks is a healing process and not to be used to obsess about whether there is a loss or not on the scale. I can say that some of my clothes are not as tight so that is nice!!! Hope to hear from you, Deanna
  10. Riggsie, I sent you a private message. Did you receive it? I wanted to talk to you because I think you told me you got your lap band in IF also. Let me know. I sure would like to be a support and have some support close to home!!! Deanna
  11. That really made my day too!!! To know that there is going to come a time when food will not DRIVE you to Eat...but you eat because you need too!! I am sooooo looking forward to that day!! What a wonderful moment that will be and I will be yelling out to the whole world...LOOK AT ME....I AM EATING BECAUSE I HAVE TO TO LIVE!!!!!!! YIPPPEEEE!! Deanna
  12. Oh my gosh I cant for the life of me figure out what I did on the 19th!!! Why am I such a weak person to have to have something put in my body THAT I CANT TAKE OUT!!! I am freaking out hourly crying and bawling and I cant control it. I know the lack of sleep does not help but COME ON!!! Surgery went fine and I really had no pain that was higher than an 8 on the pain scale but it wasnt even my stomach that hurt it was my back!!! I was nauseated ALOT and several times spit out my spit in order to try to control the feeling. My oxygen levels went really low when I went for walks so I had to stay the night. Which was fine with me. The gas pain is bad at times and just when I think it has gone away....here it comes again. I AM AN EMOTIONAL WRECK....I know what everyone is going to say....Hang in there it gets better...but right now I dont see that. I still think this thing inside me is going to end up killing me somehow and I am just to scared to relax enough to get any rest. BUT I have been walking walking walking and hubby pats on my back, that seems to really help with getting some gas out..kinda like burping a baby!! Anyways, thats my emotional roller coaster..first it is the roller coaster of waiting to have it done and then comes this one...OH BROTHER!! Am I going to make it??????:cry :cry :cry I know I will but I sure hope this feeling goes away FAST!!! Deanna... banded 19th of April, just got home Friday the 20th at 1:00pm Mountain time.

less than 24 hours til surgery

With how I felt and reading all the other posts of "soon to be banded" folks, I think that the one thing that pops out the most is " I DONT WANT TO DIE!!!" BUT, if you really think about this, heart disease is the number killer of women, which is what is going to happen to us IF we dont DO SOMETHING FOR US!!! I think that dying going into any surgery is in the front of everyones mind but the risk is SO very small that we need to concentrate on the heart disease that is killing us every time we shove our faces full of artery clogging foods!!! GOOD LUCK YOU CAN DO THIS!!! Deanna

    Hoping to be banded soon!

My doctor explained the weight loss to me this way. Give yourself three years time to get the weight off. The first year expect about a 50 percent weight loss. The next two years slowly but surely the rest will come off. I am sure there are many exceptions to this scenerio, but I was happy with that. It has taken me umpteen years to pile on this weight, I can wait for three to have it off, plus I think slower IS better. Maybe not as much loose skin? That is another thing I think about!! Good Luck!! Deanna
  21. Kat!! That was such a good post! I had tears in my eyes!! It is ALL true!! We are expected, as fat people, to NOT eat in public. Like we are an embarassment!! Oh my, all the wonderful things you can do with your grandkids....how great is that!!! As for being scared.....I dont think I know of ONE person who IS NOT scared when they go in for surgery..and that is ANY kind of surgery!! This just has a whole lot of other emotions that are attached with it. For instance, if you have carpal tunnel surgery, you also arent having to worry about when you are going to be able to eat again. If you have you hip replaced, you know that when you wake up, you will be able to eat!! I really think this is such an emotional thinkg to undertake anyways, but I totally agree with TALKING IT OUT!! AS much as possible. Even if you just write your fears and feelings in your own personal journal, getting out what you feel, feels a whole lot better than holding it it hun!!! And the people on this forum are right there when you need a lift up. Someone will say something that so totally fits what you feel its like they are your gaurdian angel and it makes you feel SOOOO good to know that you are not alone!! Hang in there!! Deanna

    When stuff gets "stuck"

That is a pretty good description of what happens.. I think I would start to freak out too. Hopefully I can remember to be calm.
  24. I agree with no one needs to know that you dont want to know... I only told a few select people and will keep it a secret until I am good and ready to tell!!
  25. eating boullion AGAIN... is this normal to "eat" all the time the first week. I am getting in boullion, water, sf popsicles and sf jello. I feel like I am doing it ALL the time!!! Not that I am worried about weight gain, just wondering if anyone else "ate" all the time the week after surgery. I know I am suppose to be getting my water in and I have been so far. :clap2:
