Hi all!! I had the worst night last night since being banded!! I was in SOOO much pain I didnt even know what to do!!! I had this SHARP stabbing pain under rib cage on left side. I got online and looked at forum and sure enough someone had the exact same pain!! One of the gals who had that same pain ended up with a blood clot:omg: Needless to say, my night was awful. I went to see my doc an hour away from home today and told him about the pain and how I was going to go to the ER but I talked myself out of it and he wanted to send me over to hospital to do ct scan. I JUST WANTED TO GO HOME at that point to hubby!!!! I was SOOO scared and in pain off and on all day. By the time I got home I was in SOOO much pain I thought I might pass out! Hubby came home and took me to ER and they did chest xray and EKG. Heart was good and xray came back clean with no pnuemonia or collapsed lung. So then the did the ct scan. They had given me some wild pain medicine and I was dozing off and on and finally the doc came in and said NO BLOOD CLOT!!!!!! I WAS SOOOO HAPPY!! NOW, for the last week since surgery I have been sleeping in a recliner. I have NOT laid down flat AT ALL!!! The doc thinks that all the gas in trapped up pushing on my diaphram.... He said that he could see a big trail of gas bubbles in my intestines that pushes up against my diaphram...so he tells me to go home and lay with some pillows under my tummy for support and put my butt in the air...:heh: :heh: :heh: I did and BOY DID THAT FEEL GREAT!!! I could hear and feel all of this air and stuff moving around. SO, I dont have a blood clot and I am sooooooo happy tonight. Thing I wanted to point out about this story is....it is better to be safe than not live to be safe!!!! But of course, Murphys Law, as soon as he came in and told me I was ok....IT QUIT HURTING!!!!!:tired But that is fine with me...I would rather KNOW for sure then sit and wonder another night!!! Deanna PS.... I lost I lost another 11 pounds since last Thursday!!!!! YIPPEEEEE!!!

I have lived within the mormon community my whole life. I am NOT mormon and would never ever be a mormon. I have lived with the "your NOT as good as we are" attitude for 37 years. I know some very very good mormon people who do not judge you for who you are and I know some very very rotten mormon people who really should examine their religions teachings. For instance, when my husband, who WAS raised mormon, wrote a letter to have his name removed from the official church listing, (not ex communicated), he wanted his name taken off the list of membership, there was a HUGE upheaval in the family. OH MY GOD....now we are not going to be together forever in Heaven when we all die!!!!!!! You know what....I didnt marry his family...I married him and I would never want to spend eternity with my DH's family!!!!!! That would SUCK!!!! When his name was official removed, my sons best friend of 5 years...all of a sudden couldnt play with him anymore...AT ALL...EVER AGAIN...because my husband "LEFT" the church. Now, that best friend is getting drunk and his parents are getting divorced...WOW...talk about hypocritical....You cant play with your best friend because his dad left our wonderful church but in 15 years me and your dad will get divorced and THATS ok....The neighbors we have have a daughter that is my daughters age...she HAS NEVER been able to play with my daughter...the reason...my hubby drinks beer and they dont want their daughter around that....oh my...what a sad sad existance.....funny thing is...it was one of their daughters who was calling for a ride because she was drunk!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have many many many things that I could tell you about the mormons and the "weird" things they do, but I wont because...its not just the mormons....all church goers are hypocrites....every single one that I have EVER met are!!!! I surely believe in God and heaven but I dont think I have to be married in a temple and do "good works" to go to heaven. And I dont think that I am going to be a "god"....or that I will "married to my first husband for time and time eternity.....my husband is NOT going to call me out of the grave...God will do that...not a man. God is NOT a man by any means...a spiritual being is what God is....not a MORTAL MAN....Mary did not have sex with Elohim to produce Jesus....oh boy, here I go on a rant about their teachings...the point I wanted to say was mormons are no worse than any other religion. Its the organization of religion that sucks...my .02!!

3 day post op and PAIN!!
areellady replied to Susan3343's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
SUSAN AND GINGER!!!!!!!!! LISTEN UP!!!!! I ended up in ER thinking the pain was a blood clot and this is what the ER doctor ended up telling me....He said...go home...get down on your hands and knees....then with a pillow supporting your chest/stomach area....lower your head down so your butt is sticking up in the air! (DOGGY STYLE)....That very night my pain was gone. I had a CT scan to see if I had blood clot and the ER doc said he could see a BIG line of gas bubbles pushing up under my diaphram which hits nerves that makes your shoulder hurt. TRY IT!! and then do it again...and again if you have too... I had slept in a chair for five days...had never laid down...all that gas was trapped up under my rib cage...I hope this will give you some relief as it did for me...the NEXT day after doing this which was a week one day post surgery, I went camping!!! I know not everything works for everybody but you have nothing to lose to try it!! Best of luck to you both Deanna -
Is this normal?? Please help!
areellady replied to stella4star's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The emotional roller coaster will likely get worse before better..Not saying that for any other reason but experience. I was a self pay too and I was scared nervous the whole nine yards...then after surgery I was fine UNTIL the next day on the way home..I fell apart!!! I couldnt for the life of me figure out what I had just done to myself and why I couldnt just be one of the skinny girls....BUT that pasted too. It is quite a ride but not one that you cant handle. This site is the BEST and if I hadnt of been on here before being banded I probably would of thought I was dying!! But I knew to walk walk walk and thats what I did...I was up and peeing as soon as they put me in my room and I wanted to walk and they wouldnt let me...TOO SOOn they said..I said...OH NO IT ISNT...I am walking NOW!!! Everyone on this site is very well informed, some even though they are not banded yet too!! Everyone is so willing to help you through and answer questions, and its like a mini family...home away from home....lets just say..soon you wont be able to leave this site to even go to bed!!! :notagree :notagree I eat sleep and LOVE lap band talk forum!! Good luck to you and just cry if you have too...even if you dont know why you are crying...it sure helps and you will feel much better!! Deanna -

Banding at Betencourt
areellady replied to PorkerChick's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Well, you know in the exercise thread maya was a personal trainer also she says..."in a different life" and got paid really good money for it...I wondered how many people would pay a teenager 75 dollars for a consultation? Just wondering... Some people just need attention no matter WHO it is coming from... -
Ted hose and spirometer
areellady replied to areellady's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
LOL bubblebutt. I know but look funny with capris....I wish I could get rid of them...and NO THEY WANT ME WEARING THEM FOR 6 WEEKS -
I was banded same day 4-19 and I have an appt. for a fill on May 21st...but if I dont want one or if I am losing still then I dont have to get one. I am getting hungry for solids, but not craving anything in particular...you know the one thing that I thought I could not live without...PIZZA...never even crosses my mind. I am not saying I will NEVER eat it...but I dont have the I HAVE TO HAVE PIZZA NOW OR I AM GONNA SCREAM attitude that I had pre band. I am eating mushies and tonight I had chicken breast that I cooked all day in crock pot...added some veggies and potatoes....and this evening had a wonderful meal...well, if you can call it a meal...blended up the chicken with some of the juice and it was delicious...veggies were mushy and mashe some potato up.... It was a great and family could eat it too!!

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters
areellady replied to TracyinKS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think I missed the memo for this thread!! I wanna be a SHRINKING VIOLET!!!! I was banded 4-19-07 !! I love all this great conversation on this thread....I went and bought a bike tonight..not a spendy one..a Schwinn from Kmart and went for a ride...BOY, I have been walking 2 miles a day BUT this biking thing USES TOTALLY DIFFERENT MUSCLES!!! I think I am going to like it though. I actually was gonna wait because I thought I was gonna be too fat (like my stomach) to ride, but It didnt seems to get in the way at all....I was great fun and hubby got one too..so I dont have to do it alone...what a great guy!! Deanna -
Hi Mya, I have been reading your other posts about being 117 pounds and wanting to be 97 so you can be a model. Although everyone is surely welcome on here...I am not sure you really should be paying 8,500 to be banded.. after you are banded you know that you can still eat right? It is NOT going to stop you from eating..and also..you are 18...how could you of been a personal trainer...when you were 12? People were paying a teenager with no college education $75 dollars for a consult? I am having a really hard time with this and most of the other things you say. Maybe you should try to eat lettuce and cucumbers for a while and see if you can lose that 20 pounds that you seem to think you need a lap band for. Gastric bypass might be a better solution than the lap band. Anyways, best of luck to you in your fantasy world....:straight

sip? What is it? A mouthful? A barely anything in your mouth? I find that I am not gulping water, but I would liken it to a swig.....not a sip...a sip to me is maybe a 1/2 teaspoon...a swig is more like a tablespoon...any thoughts? I am soooooooooooooooooooooooooo thirsty now after surgery...I have absolutely no problem getting in my water but I am wondering if I could be drinking too much. Can water stretch out pouch? Deanna

Ugh, I'm getting scared!
areellady replied to PghMomof3's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You know I was thinking about being scared and i was reading in the complications thread about a gal who had to get her gallbladder out and she was so glad so now she wouldnt be sick anymore and she would start feeling better!! I think the difference is the type of surgeries...elective vs. HAVE TO HAVE IT NOW!!! But if we think about the lap band as HAVE TO HAVE IT NOW because we need to feel better now...then maybe it wouldnt be so hard to swallow the fact that you are having surgery. I mean, if you didnt have the Lap band surgery and then 2 years from now you have to have open heart surgery because you have a heart attack because of the obesity and comorbidities, you would be glad that the doctor was going to fix your heart so you could live longer....I dont know, I am just ranting...I was scared too and I dont think there is anything anyone can say to make it better or the nervousness go away. But, I do know, that my doctor told me three years ago that if I didnt do something about my weight I would not be around in 10 years...So three years later...I was 7 years away from the ten year time frame...and I got scared...more scared than thinking about the surgery... You will get through it and then wonder why you were so nervous...thats how it always works.....but in the mean time....CONGRATULATIONS!! You are gonna be healthy:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: Deanna -
