Wheetsin, that is such a good point to pay attention to your eating..you know most of the time the fork just has to be taped to the table or thrown away to quit eating...WHY? Who knows..it tastes sooo good that one more bite becomes just one more and one more...then its all gone...and I think some of it has to do with the "Eat everything on your plate" that most of us heard as kids...I NEVER told my kids to eat everything on their plate...My FIL used to get so mad at me because I wouldnt make my kids sit there and eat everything on their plate if they had taken it. So what? IF you think about it...you are really wasting food every time you eat because you just sh*t it out anyways...so who cares if it gets wasted....WOW...dont know where that big rant came from ..sorry..Deanna

TheLid, come back here and talk to me after you get married in the temple. This is stuff they dont tell you about UNTIL you are getting married in the temple...Just dont be shocked when you are getting married and they tell you you are working toward attaining your own planet, your husband to be the god over it and you will be eternally pregnant to populate this planet...I KNOW plenty of mormons who are not so afraid to share this point with you if you ask...but most wont say a word and play dumb to it...it is suppose to be a secret til you go to the temple....

I am sure that you are meaning 2006???? Good luck now with your loss...seems like they should know what size it was...Deanna

24 hours post-op, a little more sore than expected
areellady replied to dawnc27wa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey that could be an added bonus the doctor threw in....numb tongue=no taste ......no desire for food if you cant taste it...you got a freebie and didnt even know it...LOL...I dont know but that is kind of weird just the tip...I know after I had a parathyroidectomy my cheeks were numb for several months afterward...I dont know what causes it...Deanna...oh and Welcome to bandland... -
I remember when I first starting using mine I didnt think I would ever get used to it...I think it took at least a month to really get good and used to the whole tubing and mask and leaks and getting the position just right and then having to turn over and see if something else works...I just know that I dont really dare sleep without it..even if I just take a nap I have it on....I hate waking up choking...I usually hit my husband in the chest with my hand when I wake up choking...not that he notices..he sleeps VERY DEEP!! DEanna

I just called my doctor today to get my pressure turned down. I have only lost 30 pounds, but now it is way to high. I sleep on my stomach too, and somehow I have been fine with the mask..I guess I am just used to it now..I have had my CPAP since July 05. I am really looking forward to NOT having to use it anymore..CPAP burning party at my house...watch for details....YIPPPEEEE!!! Deanna

The thing with sleep in the recliner is the gas can get trapped up under the rib cage...I slept in a recliner for 7 days and then ended up in ER with such intense pain up under my left breast I thought I was dying...but the CT scan showed a big line of gas bubbles trapped in my intestines and pushing up on my diaphram. So, I say sleep in the recliner but try to lay down some during the day to let the gas move...Deanna

This is a great thread.... I was gonna start one of these myself... Ericsmom....do you have to have your air pressure adjusted as you lose the weight.. I have noticed a difference in the way the CPAP is working now even after 30 pounds lost...I feel like the air pressure is way too high and now it keeps waking me up because it is too high and forcing my mouth open..which never happened before the 30 pound loss. Also, Evilah, How do you get any sleep now without using the machine. Do you still wake up gasping for air or is it only when you are using the machine? Deanna

Kat, I know exactly what you went through in SLC...its a very nasty town with a very heavy dark presence hanging over it...and to carlene those clean cut mormon boys did that work for you out of GOOD WORKS!! They believe they have to do good works to be a "god" one day themselves. Pipe in if I am mistaken, but you mormons are working toward being "gods" am I not right? I know I am right..I live in Idaho..I used to live in Rexburg...the highest per capita of mormons around...and also the high per capita teen pregnancy at the time of 1988..it was on Paul Harvey...who can argue with him? These clean cut boys are oooh so not what they appear on the outside...I know plenty of MORMON missionary boys...oh believe me....my sons friend...has sex, drinks, smokes and yet he is waiting on his "mission papers". I know because he tells me..I am not going to judge him harshly and kick him out of my house for him doing these things...I also know that he is going on a mission because his dad is going to buy him a brand new truck if her goes....Thats sick...what a way to control your kids huh? there are the few and far between that are going on these missions because they want to, but most are forced or bribed into going by their parents...they have been told there WHOLE lives they are going on a mission...its just a sad story...my poor nephew being one of them...the girls are taught to grow up and get married and have children should be their mission in life.....good god...then not only that but when they die and go to "heaven" to be with their "god" husbands...they are going to be eternally pregnant...oh what a joy!!!!! Hopefully they have a lap band system in their heaven....poor women.. I found that insulting when the thought was brought up that polygamy had nothing to do with sexual things. What planet are we living on? Are you totally serious and can actually think that these guys werent just a bunch of old horn dogs trying to "screw" everything in site...thats exactly what was happening...Old Breedum..I mean Bringham Young..how many wives did he have???? What were there ages??? I know its embarassing to say...a young woman should not have to married to some old horny man just so he can get his rocks off....it doesnt even make sense that these men were having more than one wife because they were getting killed...Why would they want to populate more and more children just to die and noone to take care of them....I dont know..it never has made sense to me...I know when I was a young child I went to the Morman church and I can remember the Sunday school teacher telling me that Heavenly Father and his wife.....yes...thats what I said...GOD AND HIS WIFE.....I can remember telling me mom that and the look on her face.....HIS WIFE???? LOL...

when did you start losing after surgery?
areellady replied to abominableglib's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey girl...I have missed you!!!!! Are you exercising and gaining muscle? That could be the problem...exchanging muscle for fat....are your clothes fitting looser...dont let the scale be your only way of deciding whether it is working...Deanna -
Depression after surgery?!
areellady replied to wolfmaydn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went through a short period of depression, not necessarily over the food part, but over WHAT THE HECK HAVE I JUST DONE TO MYSELF!!!!!!! I couldnt believe that I had let myself get so fat as to need to go to surgery....I cried my little heart out for a while then felt better and better each day. Of course, I posted on here and someone was right there with me the whole way...Seems like there is always ONE post that really hits home, the other are good, but one that really points something out or makes you feel so much better....Its great here..let it all out and you will feel better. I think feeling lost is kinda like no one else you knows has this band but you, you have a lap family online, but no one else in person...that can make you feel lost. Keep your chin up hun...it will get better as each day passes and you get more confident in your decision and when you start getting some food in your system....Deanna -

Question re: post-op diets
areellady replied to tesma's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I know from my doc they dont want me eating alot of sugar..mostly sugar free..I dont think that they want you drinking alot of caffeine....but that might just be the carbonated kind...I am not much of a coffee drinker once in awhile...thats all that I know...someone else will chime in with what they know too!! Deanna -

As a person who is not close to her goal...I thought about this thread like this...you are now a little person...you have worked very hard and now you are down to your last little bit of weight. Now that said, remember the times pre band when you would diet and when you would have a snack that would turn into 20 more snacks that day!!!! You are doing sooooo awesome!!! Pat on your back from me...now that you are banded...that 1 snack is staying at one snack...good job~!!!! Whether banded or not the last bit of weight is ALWAYS the hardest to lose..i wonder if the body is saying...hey now...wait a minute...we have been here before.....I dont know...just keep plugging away, it will come off. My doc office told me that in the first year expect half of your weight to come off....during the next two years...the rest will come off...so I am giving myself three years to take off my weight. I put it on over umpteen years so I think three is a good number..Deanna

I think my head is going to explode!!!
areellady replied to Sissy907's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am sorry for what is happening to you!!! My husband used to be military so I know your pain.....LOL...anyways...hopefully you have the ball rolling now...Deanna Good Luck -
I havent weighed since my one week post op check up. I am going to wait until I go in again on the 21 of May before I weigh again. I dont want to see the daily fluctuations...I think that would be depressing and not helpful for me at all!!! I am sure it is water weight when you fluctuate up and down in a day or two though. Unless it is muscle replacing fat!!!

No worry, I have a cpap also and I sleep on my tummy. I dont really know how I do it, but I do..I get a headache if I sleep on my side and I cant sleep on my back...I went to long with out cpap and cant get rid of the feeling of waking up choking when i was on my back. Hope this helps..Deanna

How difficult is the initial post op diet?
areellady replied to NoWorry's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is really not as bad as it seems...at least not for me it hasnt been. I had a pretty good pre op diet..I could eat food...some can only have protein drinks..I could have 11 oz of protein, veggies and 2 fruit a day...veggies were unlimited...at the time I thought I was gonna die...but really it was not that bad...as far as afterwards, I am just getting ready to start on regular food tomorrow....I have not concentrated on losing weight since surgery but have done exactly what the doc told me too. I have only had real hunger pains once since surgery and that was because I went way too long before eating...duh...that was MY fault...so it really isnt that bad. at least for me...Deanna -

oh and another thing...the polygamy didnt stop until one of "THE PROPHETS" decided or sorry...had a divine prophecy ....to stop all polygamy...what a coincidence...polygamy stopped at the time that people were NOT joining the church because they thought the teachings to be TOO WEIRD!!!! HHHMMM.......Weird is not EVEN the word....

oh my god Sunta..I thought I was gonna die laughing when I read that...please tell....please....oh shit...that was funny...well, the funny underwear they talk about wearing...its symbolic of something WHAT?? that you are mormon...you always know the temple married people cuz their shorts go down to their knees..but they think that you cant see their garments...(thats what the funny underwear is called) but EVERYONE can see them...they like it when people see them. It gives them some sort of "one up on you" attitude... i know my DH family wears them.....Sunta..you are too funny...Deanna
