I was just at GNC and saw a book about this Alli and the guy there told me that when taking it if you go over 11 grams of fat per meal, you get the oily substance in your stomach, which I am assuming means this orange diarrhea stuff? Not sure, but he did say that the three main ingredients that were in when it was sold prescription only are taken out so he really doubts people will stick with it. Deanna

Sometimes men can be so insensitive about what they say!! But, sounds like a good guy if he knows he did wrong!! I am glad that it made you feel better. I get really defensive when someone gets hurt because of stupid comments about weight!! Deanna

LOL...now this cracks me up!! HMMMM.. makes you wonder huh? Deanna

Muscle DOES NOT WEIGH MORE than fat
areellady replied to areellady's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oh and thanks for the pictures, that really makes me want to ride an extra 10 miles or so a DAY!!!! YUCK!! Lean muscle is BEAUTIFUL!! Deanna -
I have the Schwinn Searcher also and have had it for about a month and WANT A NEW ONE!! It is not the best for hills as it only has 7 gears and me, DH and DD are doing 10 miles every other night and then about 5-6 every other night, so I need a different bike!!! I want to go long distances!!! I want to work up to 30 miles twice a week next year, so now I am looking for something else. There are some really nice bikes out there for not a whole lot more than I paid for my Schwinn. Wish I knew then what I know now about bikes so I would of spent a little more and had a lot more bike. I LOVE BIKING!! I am already looking into getting one of those things (don't know the name of them) that you put your bike on in your house for the winter so I can keep on riding. I am sure that I give all the young kids driving by a great laugh with my big ole butt!! LOL...Deanna

Oh Lotsofcurves...I want to give you a BIG hug and tell you YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!!!! Don't ever let any man tell you that!! That is rude and insensitive and RUDE(did I say that already)!!! A person needs to have a mate that loves them NO MATTER what size they are. One day it MIGHT be him that is overweight, then what would he do if you told him that? I am sorry he said that to you sweetie!! You need to be cherished and treasured for YOU...not your weight!!! Deanna

Muscle DOES NOT WEIGH MORE than fat

Thank you Jacqui, that is exactly what I was trying to say, only I didn't say it!!! You are great!! People always say, well, I exercised extra hard this week and gained three pounds...oh well, it must be muscle because muscle weighs more...that was the point I was TRYING to get across. Deanna -
Insubordination, THAT IS GREAT!! I love it! That is what is seems like people want. I think it really comes down to this....some people can't stand to see someone else succeed at something. It makes them unsecure about themselves. That is plain and simple and what it is. Deanna

Your food plan of choice.
areellady replied to tekymom's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I eat whatever I want that is healthy. I started out counting calories but felt like I was dieting. I eat all kinds of meat, fish, and poultry. I eat brown rice, wheat pasta and "good" carb items. I eat beans for the carbs as well as the protein. I am not going to diet any more. I do not have cravings for "junk" food, but I think that has to do with the good carbs/bad carbs thing. If I am out and about and stop in a store I always go straight to the beef jerky instead of the candy. My hubby does now too!! I do eat some things that are low fat or low carb just because they are good and I like GOOD things to eat. Like the I Can't Believe It's Not Butter spray. I think that is good and so instead of using butter I use that. If it didn't taste very good I would not use it. I tried the light salad dressing and HATED it. Bought the regular and WAS MUCH HAPPIER with that and only need a small amount anyways. I use Splenda and don't use sugar anymore. It works for me and I love the new me. I am hoping for 100 pounds down by December. Guess we will see. Good Luck to all no matter what you choice to eat. It has to be healthy and good for you. Your body needs the nutrients. Deanna -
I don't think a whole lot of women can have an orgasm through regular sexual intercourse. I think most have orgasms with other stimulation. Oh course, I could be wrong. Just seems to me throught other conversations with friends and others that this is the case most of the time. Deanna

I was wondering the same thing, not black beans, but just any kind of beans. I am not sure if the texture would be different or if it would be fine. Would be a good thing to try I guess. Deanna

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters
areellady replied to TracyinKS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just want to say to all who are wishing someone who does not know about your band would notice your weight loss.....THEY DO!! People are noticing but they might not be able to put their finger on the exact thing about you that is different. And then there are the people who won't say anything to you at all, but that doesn't mean they don't notice!!! Think of all the times you have seen someone who has lost weight and you haven't said anything to them. Pretty soon EVERYONE will be noticing you!!! Good Luck! Deanna -
I voted for 5 or more times a week. I am doing strength training every other day, riding my bike at every day, every other day going at least 10 miles. I have pretty much quit walking as it is too boring for me and to keep doing it when it is boring will end in failure for me. I am going to start rowing on the bowflex to change for the walking. I am addicted to exercise. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!!! I have been in shape before and loved it then. Trying to figure out what caused me to quit before....not sure what the problem was. Exercise is such a mood enhancer too!!! Boy, trying going one day without my biking and I am A BITCH!!! Chickie, PLEASE do not leave the boards...you are such an inspiration to me!!! I don't go for the all protein attitude either. Food in the real world is full of carbs, so to me to ONLY eat protein is setting me up for failure. I eat good carbs, brown rice and whole wheat pasta....I think a person can go for a few years without carbs but NOT A LIFETIME!! Anyways, good job to all of us who get the fact that is takes moving our bodies to get it healthy!!!! Deanna

Kacee, Your post really hit home with me. I totally agree. It seems like whenever you see someone that has lost weight their face seems to have more lines, even though they might look younger. That puts a lot of things in perspective. We aren't made to look like we are 16 forever. When we get older, we should look older too. Just look at all of the celebrities who have face lifts in their 70's. Looks kinda ridiculous to me. Deanna

Leave it to Tracy to be the gory one!!! LOL...Good luck to you FSC...Sounds like quite a bit to deal with. Deanna -
I guess there are SOME things that these spoiled, rich people's mommies CAN'T do for them. Too bad she has to do her toileting in front of other people. I bet the officers are getting quite a kick out of the whole thing. I know I would be if I was working in that jail!!! Deanna

Hi all, went yesterday for first fill but didnt get one. They said I was doing so good that they wanted to ride it out and see if they could get away with not filling me for as long as possible. I was quite dissappointed until I got home and realized that is the best thing. If I can lose this much weight without fill then I should continue on and see how much more I can lose without any fill. I guess I am a little upset thinking that I could of done this without surgery, but then I realize that is the lie sneaking up on me and I could NOT do this without surgery. I could lose the weight, just not keep it off. Has anyone else not got a fill and not gained back a lot of the inital weight loss. I explained that I was getting hungry every 3 hours and they said that was perfect. I thought it was every 4-5 that was good. Deanna

Has anyone had good luck with grilled these with some olive oil, salt and pepper? I want to use them like a hamburger patty without a bun. I am trying them tonight, just thought I would see if anyone else had good luck with them. They are suppose to be a meaty texture. I am not a vegan at all, but I do miss my vegetables. In fact most of time i eat my vegetables first so I make sure and get them. I really do miss them. I NEVER thought I would miss vegetables, but I DO!! Deanna

Then I look at the end progress which was March 02. Ending weight was 244. It took 6 MONTHS to lose 35 pounds!!!!!!!!!:bored I have been at this lap band thing for two months and have lost 40.5 lbs!!! What a difference for me!!! WOW, I was just amazed!!! I love my band!!! I keep feeling better and better EVERY single day!! Deanna

Whoops, sorry angeladarling...I didnt see the rest of your name!!

Thank you angel, I believe you can do it!! I had got rid of all of my old skinny girl clothes last year, finally, after giving up I would EVER be able to lose weight and keep it off. I am so disappointed that I did that, but oh well. Exercise all that you can. That I believe is the key to this whole puzzle. Start slow and work your way up. Muscle burns fat faster and more efficient. You can do it!!! Good Luck! Deanna

I still have only told a handful of people. DH and two kids, my parents, DH parents, one of my professors and one friend. I don't want any pressure and questions. Right now is about me learning and if I have to explain every single thing to everyone that knows I would go insane. This is such a learning curve that I want to enjoy this time without having to defend my actions. I now wish I had NOT told in laws, but that is another story. My mom is so supportive. She always has been though. She is so great and goes with me to my doctors appointments. My DH is my rock and solid ground. He is my cheerleader. I think that no one needs to know until I DECIDE they need to know. As I have lost 40 pounds in two months starting from pre op diet, I get less and less defensive about the subject though. I am almost to the point where if someone asked me how I lost weight I would probably tell them. I guess I am not as worried about it now as I was two months ago when starting out, but still its about me and MY LIFE and my right to keep it from whomever I want to. Deanna
