Banded 2/19/07 Unbanded 3/2/07 try again?
areellady replied to Carrie E's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
To sue the surgeon you would have to prove that he was neglegent. You also probably signed a release stating that you KNEW of all of the complications that could arise from having this surgery. I am NOT saying that the doctor is not negligent, so please, no one jump down my throat. I am just saying that you would have to prove that. I am proud to say I know someone who is NOT about suing when something goes wrong medically. That is a BIG statement in this day and age. Gosh, just think of all of the people who used to "get bled" when they had something wrong and died. You are one heck of a woman in my eyes to be able to even "think" of getting rebanded let alone with the same surgeon. You are courageous!!!! Good luck, and please let us all know what you decide to do in the future. Deanna -
Well, went to the bbq and in laws were having a squabble I guess, since they didn't talk to anyone much. FIL ate and then went inside to watch tv. MIL talked to us SIL's and no one else knows in the family so MIL didn't bring it up. One of my SIL's kept telling me how beautiful I was getting, but no one said anything about my weight loss. I don't know if they secretly know???? and were told NOT to let me know they know??? I don't know, but last time I saw them I was 50 pounds heavier...how could they really not notice.....oh well, if they know they are doing a good job not letting me know they know... Deanna

I bought the cannelini beans this week so now just to make them. I will do it THIS week for sure. Deanna

Your welcome. I also made this and didn't put the cornbread on top and then used it for tacos. It was yummy!!! No meat tacos. Deanna

I have stood up to him on a number of occasions and it gets me NOWHERE but ignored by them, which in turn they igore my hubby...which pisses me off.....lo and behold...she called this morning and invited us to a family bbq tonight. I HATE the thought of going, but for DH sakes I am afraid I will. I am just going to ignore him or say...you know, you would probably feel a lot better yourself if you got a bike and rode with MIL, and she would much rather ride with you than with me!! I don't know...just get sick of trying to PLEASE everyone and end up pleasing NOONE...Deanna

post surgical sexual intimicies
areellady replied to kaohinani's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh yeah!!! I am doing that too, but my DH is LOVING every minute of it. I can't stop and frankly think it is so much more awesome that McDonalds. LOL...never thought I would say THAT!!! In all seriousness, I have a very large increase in libido and it all has to do with increased self esteem and weight dropping off like melted butter. Also, I exercise every day and this gives me much needed energy and STAMINA to preform....A LOT MORE!!! I love it and I am glad that it is happening!! I had a pretty good sex life before, twice a week average. BUT NOW........HOLY SHIT.... I guess I SHOULD give poor dear hubby a rest...ONCE IN AWHILE... NOT!! Deanna -
YES GREEN!!! I love it. He is just the intimidating, overpowering, "I AM THE RULER" type that no one can say anything too. BUT, I am going to have to I guess. I think I will tell him next time that if she wants to go riding, I am sure she can do it anytime that she would like on her own. NO, NO, AND NO....I won't. I won't say anything but nod my head and look away and wish for a quick exit. I know that he made a comment about how pretty soon I am going to look like Twiggy and THAT would not be good. HELLO!!! I CAN LOOK ANYWAY THAT I WANT!!! I just hate that I can't stand up to him and tell him NO!! I am NOT going to take your wife. YOU TAKE HER!!! Maybe its time to stay away from them for awhile so I don't have to worry about the stress. Deanna

Help I need convinced that I should exercise
areellady replied to violeteyes37's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I agree she smiles. I KNOW I would not have lost this amount of weight in two months without the exercise. I do cardio every day, 45 minutes plus. I do strength training every other day. YOU have to move to lose. I know that others have lost with out exercise but I always look at the little bit of food they are eating. I didn't get banded to DIET, I got banded to get healthy. I still want to eat, just good foods. I do not want to live on shakes for two meals a day and have one meal of food. I see this A LOT on the board. People are willing to "drink" their meals, I am NOT willing to do this. Good luck and get moving!!!! You won't regret it AT ALL!! Deanna -
I actually have not had a fill. I have an appointment for Monday the 25th, but she will NOT give me one. I have lost another 20 pounds since last month. She only gives fills if you are not losing. I lost 10 pounds on the pre op diet. Then 20 pounds the first month. Then 20 pounds the next month. It will work for you if you are honest with what you eat and eat clean. By clean, I mean healthy. EXERCISE IS THE KEY!! I hate to admit it, but it really is. I love it now, but HATED IT when I first started doing it. Deanna

nume, I am sooooo happy that you talked about this situation with DH. That is the FIRST step to helping yourself. You are awesome and beautiful and I am so glad that you are feeling some relief and some tension is gone in your life. Deanna

Hi all!! I have done the exact same things you all have done. Heaped up my plate sat down at table and then laughed!!! I am pretty good at how much I can eat now and I usually put the right amount on my plate. I still find it funny that after we eat dinner, it is not 10 minutes and hubby is looking for food and continues this throughout the res of the evening. Sometimes is pisses me off, but most of the time I am in complete amazement of how much food a person can shove in their mouths. The best part is that I used to be just like that ONLY worse than hubby!!!! Deanna

OMG!!!!! Once again, last night, hubby and I invited in laws to the Greek Festival in town to eat, and by end of night riding our bikes came up and ONCE AGAIN FIL says, "You need to not go 10 miles and just go 2 miles so you can come get MIL and take her with you." OH MY GOD!!!! SHUT THE F>>>CK UP!!! If and that is a BIG IF..she wants to ride her bike...SHE IS A BIG GIRL AND CAN RIDE IT WITHOUT ME!!!!!! My DD bless her heart...is 12 and says to her grampa..."you need to get a bike and ride with gramma..." he then tells her, "in the summer time that is hard for grampa to find the time to do that"...oh my hell...BUT I AM SUPPOSE TO FIND THE TIME TO MAKE HIS WIFE RIDE HER BIKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want to freaking scream!!! It is too the point where I really don't even want to be around them...AT ALL!!! Deanna

Help I need convinced that I should exercise
areellady replied to violeteyes37's topic in Fitness & Exercise
START NOW!!! You will feel great and have tons of extra energy and you are NOT going to gain pounds of muscle in a few weeks. It takes time to build enough muscle to GAIN weight from it. I started walking an hour or so out of surgery and have not stopped yet. I keep doing more and more and LOVE every minute of it!!!! Although I have gone on to better and bigger things than walking( because I find it boring now), getting ready to get out the roller blades that I have from SEVERAL years ago and get going on them again!!! I am sooooooooo for exercise. I can't tell you enough how much it has helped me in EVERY aspect of my life. I do not have a fill as of yet and I KNOW all the exercise has helped me with my weight loss. Good luck and GET MOVING!! Deanna -
You are doing just fine. Your band is wide open and you do not have "the hour glass" that you will have when you start getting fills. Your stomach is healing and the swelling from surgery is going down that is why you can eat more than you could at first. Just be sure to follow your doctors orders to the T!!!! He tells you them for a reason. Deanna Good job and congrats!!

Liquid Tylenol is sitting on the shelf next to the pill form. If you can't find it, ask a pharmacist to help you find it. Deanna

VERY great comments!! It seems like all they could do is DO THEIR JOB!!!! Aren't they getting paid to do this???? LOL....sorry to hear of your troubles...Deanna

That must be quite exciting to meet new people who never knew you as heavy!!! I can't wait. It will be nice to have some talk to me and not be wondering how I can be this fat!!! Deanna
-
Oh yes, I ride EVERY DAY!! If I don't I feel bad (physically) We having a blast at it though. I sweat like a freak, but I don't care. Last night some guys drove by and were yelling out the window of the car. I asked my DH if they had never seen a fat lady riding a bike before. Funny thing I don't "see" myself as fat anymore until I go by a mirror or glass window, then I see how far I REALLY have to go still. Oh well...I will get there soon enough. Thanks for all of the info on the bike, its interesting. Yeah, I almost got hit last night. Some idiot in a truck pulling a trailer behind him...IN THE BIKE LANE!!!!!!!! IDIOTS!! Deanna
-
Yes, I think so. So, basicly it is a comfort thing???? That is what I am understanding from you. That is so awesome you have that kind of trail available to you. I have to ride on the road and these damn people act like its a "CHORE" to move over so they don't hit you. Deanna

Gadgetlady, You and I have the same kind of relationship with hubbys. If he wants something he asks, if I want something I ask. Gosh there is so much other crap to deal with in life day to day I can't imagine NOT being able to have an affectionate, loving hubby to talk to about it all. I just wish everyone would have that I guess. I feel sad for those who don't get treated like the queens that we ladies are!!! Deanna

Will using my abs/deep breathing hurt after surgery?
areellady replied to DivaRae's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You really should ask your doctor about this. My doc didn't want me doing situps for at least a month. Every doc is different, so that would be my advice, ask him/her. Deanna -
GOod job Tim!!! I love that you do it 7 days a week!!! That is great!! Deanna

Great posts ladies!!!! A lot of things to think about definitely. The crock pot is so right!!! A little help with the kids and household chores goes A LONG way in my book. Although my kids are older, when they were little I had to make dinner, then give baths, do dishes, pick up after everyone and it is damn tiring!!!! Some men need to be gently pushe toward behaviors that will help and some probably need to be shoved. And then there are those who will NEVER help their wives no matter what is said to them. I have a few Brother in Laws like this. Deanna
