Long2be, take some water with you. If you were just out for 1/2 hour, probably ok...any long, take water. Our stats are almost exactly the same...I started at 305.5, then two week pre op diet put me to 295.5 on surgery day, my goal is to be 170. That is pretty cool, I was like, wow, we are the same person!!!

    Please cheer me up

First off, step back and take a deep deep breath and let it out. You are just out of surgery girl. You need to start thinking "healing" not losing. You need to concentrate on getting your body back up to where it was before surgery and let all the other just sluff off. This is about you and you doing this long term. Don't worry about the weight, it will come off. You have to help yourself right now, and I know I probably did the same amount of worrying about the weight at that stage, but I promise, if you worry about you getting healed, the time will come and you will start to feel normal again. Cheer up, your on your way girl!!

Long2be, HP said it all....drink, drink and drink. Keep hydrated is important when riding in hot weather. I still think people are laughing a pointing, but who is the one on the bike, and who is in the car eating McDonalds, getting ready to die from cardiac arrest. You know, I am more fit and in shape than most skinny people I know, so its not all about the skinny person. They couldn't do it even if they wanted to, just stick your nose in the air and don't look at what people are doing. I have had a few guys hooting and hollering at me lately, I don't pay attention either way, didn't like me fat, don't look at me thin. Thats how I look at it. HP, you riding tonight? Wanna do a challenge for the night? How about going at least 30 miles tonight????? Wanna?????? Huh?????

B, sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good to see you on here again!!!! We have been missing you!!! BG and B, what is going on with your bands???? Sounds quite serious in BG's case....what about you B? I know you know this but here comes the mommy in me.....You did this to have a healthy happy life, not to suffer....find out what is wrong if you don't know already. Either way it sucks, if they have to take it out, or if you have to live on slick stuff the rest of your life.... Thats just as bad as being obese. Life can be gone at any time, you need to enjoy it!! Now, off the mommy case.... HP, no, we did not do the hill again, it rained last night and the wind was blowing so hard, we could hardly pedal. We came home and ate and then the wind calmed down so we went back out, and lo and behold, the wind comes back up again, so we only got 14.25 miles in last night. Hoping for some good miles tonight. J, glad you rode!!! Glad you have some time planned for Saturday, I really don't think there is anything quite like riding to relieve stress from your life. Now to hear from JC and TX!!!!

loveangelpet, DON'T FRET!!! We all on this thread were very heavy when starting to ride. You will do just fine. We get these miles in because of the love of the riding. It used to be about the exercise and just moving in the beginning. Then, it takes over and soon you love it for what it is....a wonderful, fun thing to do. Two miles is great starting out!!!! You will work your way up and soon be doing 10 miles then 20....we all were where you are right now....we worked on it a little at a time and got to this point. Keep posting here and hopefully we can share what we know with you to help you in any way we can.

HP, yep, I always dropped down too, and you don't get any oxygen doing it that way, you have to sit up and push back, opens your lungs right up!!! I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo sore today..... I am thinking of going and doing it again tonight.....it was way fun....

That is so great HP!!! I agree with the challenges. They make you want it more. I went out tonight with intentions of going around 40 miles. I actually went to do the 40K route that I signed up to do in September with the 1500' climb in 9 miles. We were not going to go to the top, but along came one of the guys from the LBS that we talk to a lot when we go in, he stopped and talked to us, and then talked us into going all the way to the top. He stayed with me the entire time and helped me work through the grinds. I was doing climbs all wrong!!! You want to sit up more and back and push your heels down and use your hamstrings to get you up the hill. You want to breath deeply the entire time. I always bent over to my drop downs and tried to get up that way. This way was soooo much easier. I am going to find a group to ride with just to get some more good advice. Anyway, I conquered the climb and am exhausted but can't wait to do it again. That's what I love about cycling, for me, no matter how hard I work at it, I still want to go out and do it again. It never gets boring to me.

    Weigh Down Workshop

I participated in the Weigh Down Workshop many years ago. It did nothing for me at the time, I am not sure if I was open to it, or not, or if it just didn't work. I have seen a lot of the ladies that I went to the classes with and they are all just as heavy now or heavier. I did not know any of the information about her leaving her church and starting her own before today, but that does not surprise me.

    Christian bandsters

I just want to add to the picture here too. I am adding in about the exercise. Maybe the aerobic class is not what you should be doing. Maybe that is not your thing, and you are forcing yourself to do it, in the name of exercise. You have to find the one thing that you love to do. I did, and it is now not exercise at all to me, it is something I do because I LOVE, ABSOLUTELY LOVE to do it. I don't think of excuses to not do it, I think of excuses when people or things get in my way of my time to ride my bike. I started out riding 5 miles a night maybe 2-3 times a week. I now have a road bike and ride around 130 miles a week. It has been something I have had to work up to, but I just love it. Someone told me last week, and it hit me as true, that I have found the one thing that I love to do, which is so very important, if you plan on doing it forever. Maybe walking, then getting into a jogging program would be better. Maybe swimming? There are a lot of different things you can do exericising, but find what you love to do and then do it. I know, I started out walking and I was so sick of walking by three weeks post op I thought I would cry. It was boring, seemed to take forever, but I never felt like I was getting anywhere. That is when the biking took place. I have also tried running after I got quite a bit of weight off, but that never clicked with me either. I hope what I am saying is coming across the right way, I am not critizing you at all, I am just saying that maybe you should find something else to do for exercise, that might give you more encouragement if you actually want to do it instead of have to force yourself to do it. As for the chocolate, I can't tell you what to do about that. I love chocolate, have always loved chocolate and probably always will love it. In fact, today, I stood in the store staring at it. Looking at all the calories and fat in all the candy bars, and contemplating getting one. It took a good while to come to my senses and leave the store without any candy. When real restriction comes, and it will, it will be a blessing for you and a lot of food that you really like and crave doesn't seem so important anymore. Hang in there and I hope that I have helped a little bit in this land of confusion.

    Need Some Encouragement

Oh my ladies, I just read your thread. You WILL get some restriction and you will feel full....(this is the part you don't want to hear)....eventually. It takes a few fills and then you feel it. I know I did the same thing as you guys, though, was so disappointed. I wanted to feel full right now, not months down the road. Looking back though, at least your not GAINING 10 , and not losing it again, your gaining a little and losing it again. Your band is working to some degree. Sometimes we have to put in a little extra work until the band kicks in and does it job a little more. I feel for you about this, it can be sooooooo upsetting. When you have good restriction and you eat, if you get stuck, it will make it worse...like a clogged up toilet, so really try not to drink while eating. It is a good habit to not get into. Good luck to you!!!! Hang in there, restriction is coming!!
