Smoking & PreOp cheating
akreese02 replied to clopezrogina's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In terms of diet, I could eat normally until three days pre-op then I was on a strictly clear liquid diet. It was hell and I'm not sure how people function longer than that! Smoking - I'm an ex smoker but had quit well before surgery except, occasionally I cheat (1 or 2 every four to five months only when I'm somewhere where others are smoking which is rarely ever). I went to a party a month before surgery and smoked about four cigarettes then stopped again. -
I don't understand how I gain weight now?
akreese02 replied to akreese02's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Fair_Maiden, it sure does so logically, that makes sense. It is just crazy how much veering off the sleeve road can seem to be a fatal crash! -
Increase in appetite
akreese02 replied to cindy4157's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
41 pounds total. I was;t really required to lose weight pre-op as I was on the lower BMI but had two co-morbidity conditions that qualified me for surgery. So pre-op I was 230 and at surgery after two days of a clear liquid diet I was 227. -
Increase in appetite
akreese02 replied to cindy4157's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in exactly the same place. I'm 2 1/2 months out and getting an appetite back. I stay around 1,050 calories a day, walk the tread stepper for 10 minutes a day, get my 10,000 steps in according to my Fitbit and have been hovering around 190 for three weeks! Frustrating! -
Kind of freaking out about hypoglycemia attack
akreese02 replied to akreese02's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I definitely recovered a lot faster than pre-surgery when I would be so tired after a severe hypo attack. I think I might have been a little dehydrated too. With summer here and getting more exercise i, I need to increase my Water intake past 64 ounces. -
Getting Jiggly
akreese02 replied to Inner Surfer Girl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Off diabetic meds. No more low blood sugar attacks (which required copious amounts of sugar to recover). More mobility! Getting an active life back to keep up with my three kids! -

March check in and sweet addiction modifications
akreese02 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello all, I was sleeved on 3/24/15 and what a journey it has been in just two short months. I went from the early stages of thinking "What the hell have I done to myself" to the dreaded three week stall, to testing out my pouch, finding out it is made of steel then falling off the wagon with sweets a few times. Another stall and now I am in kick ass mode and dropping weight like crazy! I read these pages like they are my bible and have only posted a couple of times. I wanted to post about sweets and sugar because they are DEFINITELY my weakness and I apparently have no aversion to them post surgery. Also, being sleeved in March, I hit my 6 week sold food phase right when my daughter's birthday came, Mother's Day, my wedding anniversary, hubby's birthday and now coming up....my birthday. So what have these events taught me.... 1) I am a full blown sugar/sweets addict. This is an important realization because pre surgery, I was insulin resistant and on diabetes medication. My blood sugar would drop all the time so I had sweets around when this happened. Post surgery, I'm no longer on medication and my hypoglycemia is gone. So all that's left is my head addiction to sugar! 2) I can "fall off the wagon" but also get back on as often as I want. It is in my control. I prefer to be on the wagon in terms of carbs ad sweets! 3) I have to come up with a plan for celebrations because having left over cake in my house is a DISASTER!!!! I did some research and found a bakery that makes gluten free AND sugar free cakes and the best part, they make bite size samplers (about 4-5 ounces). I went in and had a sample and it is really good! So for my upcoming birthday, everyone is getting a bite sized cake and the best thing, NO LEFT OVERS!!!!! Just thought I would share some of my experiences as I know reading others' posts helps me out tremendously! -

I'm in Colorado but I would imagine as progressive as the NorthWest is with gluten free (like Colorado), you could find a similar bakery near you. -

March 2015 Sleevers...How are you? Poll
akreese02 replied to readinva's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Surgery date: 3/24 Start weight: 227 Current weight: 195 Loss: 32 pounds Size 20 now size 16 Struggles: now that I can eat real food, realizing it really is up to me to "work the tool." Joys: not being worried ALL THE TIME about my blood sugar dropping, becoming sweaty and shaky and having to eat a bunch of sugar to recover! This was happening 2 to three times a day!!!!! Of course the benefits of weight loss but the blood sugar is truly freeing! Exercise: according to my Fitbit, I'm averaging 7,500 steps a day. Plan on hitting the gym when summer break starts! -
Any one else have a "cheat day" on Mother's Day?
akreese02 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well not a total cheat day. I still made high protein, low carb choices (as much as possible). Probably grazed a little more than usual but the biggest thing, I did't track any calories on myfitnesspal for the first time since my surgery and it was sooooooo weird. I think I have become addicted to tracking -
CrAnKy! With a capital B!

I was in the same boat and really worried! Once I started on soft foods, it got 110% better! -
When Can I Start Eating Bread?
akreese02 replied to ImprovedDreamerGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get low carb crackers at the regular grocery store and make my "sandwich" on 3-4 crackers, open faced it helped with my desire for a bagel, cream cheese and lox. Now I just have a mini version! -
Back to work tomorrow :(
akreese02 replied to TealSister's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went back to teaching one week after surgery. Probably should have taken another week because I fell asleep on my floor during my planning periods! Feel great now (six weeks out, surgery was 3/24/15) but still get tired in the afternoon! Hoping to have more energy once summer break gets here -
I just went to my 6 week check up today and I have been averaging 1,000 calories a day. I have been dropping more weight than when I was only eating 500-600 per day. My surgeon said 1,000 calories was perfect! I get hungry (not like pre-surgery when I was diabetic and my blood sugar dropped all the time). I think it's normal!

Legs (pictures encouraged)
akreese02 replied to Sabl3r's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lose weight in my legs and butt first (while holding onto weight from my waist up). Therefore, the 30 pounds I've lost so far have all been legs and butt! -
Help! Starting to graze at four week out.
akreese02 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm now four weeks out and eating soft foods. I'm still under 1,000 calories for the day because I track everything on My Fitness Pal but as I tolerate food more, I find myself struggling at night (my pre-surgery weak time). After working as a teacher then coming home to three kids ages 3-13, night time is the worse! I do really well with three meals, not drinking anything 30 minutes before and after and I only drink water! But darn it if 7:30, 8:00 rolls around and the grazing begins (very minimal right now, but I already foresee my weakness coming). -
Able to Eat Almost Anything
akreese02 replied to Kathy L's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in the same boat. I'm just thankful my blood sugar isn't dropping anymore as it did pre-op. I would have never been able to only eat 1,000 calories without this surgery so I guess the only thing to say is, we have to diligent. Track your food, get your protein and give yourself a break every now and then! -
Back to work tomorrow :(
akreese02 replied to TealSister's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went back to teaching 7 days after surgery (3/24)and fell asleep in my room on my planning periods for the first week. It got better after that. Now I just fall asleep when I get home -
Losing weight from where?
akreese02 replied to 2NewBeginningsxoxo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Always lose in my face, butt and legs first. Baby don't got much back anymore -
I couldn't stand any of them but that's just me. It felt like I had a slimy film on my teeth after each sip.

HOW MUCH WEIGHT HAVE U GUYS LOST SINCE SURGERY?
akreese02 replied to jackiemc1987's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Surgery was 3/24. I weighed 230 before pre-op liquid diet (only 2 days). Currently weigh 211 but I haven't lost in over a week due to the three week stall;) -
Nauseous after multi-vitamin and b-12
akreese02 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For the last couple of days I have become nauseous after taking my chewable multi-vitamin and b-12. I thought it might be because I took them on an empty stomach so today I took them with food, made it worse. -
Nauseous after multi-vitamin and b-12
akreese02 replied to akreese02's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I bought the chewable kind from bariatric choice and spent some cash. I think I'm going to try to take the b-12 later because I really think that is the culprit. Thanks!
