A little surprised to get my A1C levels back
akreese02 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
after almost 8 months post-sleeve surgery and 15 pounds away from being considered "normal" weight and my A1C level is 5.9 (pre-surgery and + 62 more pounds and it was 6.1). My doctor says I'm still pre-diabetic. -
The holidays are in deed a challenge! Hanging tight at 165 (dipped to 164 at the start of the week but holding onto some water weight). I think my goal will be to maintain at least until my Orange Theory opens up on 12/18!

this weeks weigh in 166.9

Sending you pictures of food and asking if you wish you could eat it is beyond passive aggressive. Just keep doing what your doing and know yourself!

My sister-in-law had gastric bypass roughly 13 years ago when it was a MAJOR surgery. I'm talking 5 days in the hospital and her gut cut open. She lost a TON of weight and was down to a size 8/10. She hasn't gained it all back but a significant portion. She always says she is going to "get back on track" while drinking a Pepsi. Unfortunately, surgery is not a cure all as we all know. I try to not come off as a snob because we all became heavy due to our relationship to food. I am by no means a saint or a food snob. I have my good days and my bad days. I think you just smile and take the comments and know that it is not luck it is hard work and then you tell your family this fact if they are unrelenting. Sometimes blunt honesty (after reserved politeness) is totally appropriate.

Any teachers out there...returning to work?
akreese02 replied to ForLfKlovr's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Um, yes! I had my surgery in March and when I came back in August, people noticed. The biggest reaction I got was from our librarian who returned from maternity leave yesterday. She screamed ( yes screamed in a library but it was before school), "You have disappeared!" -
I'm in! Goal 160, current weight 168. Thanks for setting another challenge up!

I suffered from hypoglycemia prior to surgery which was a large part of why I couldn't lose weight. If I did anything physically active, I could drop and then had to down sugar. I was so happy that the issue seemed to completely go away after surgery until about 3 months after surgery. Now I have to make sure I have had plenty of protein prior to exercise and I'm fine.

Damn Halloween candy! I was giving it away by the hand full to trick-or-treaters to get it out of the house! 168 final weight (no loss, no gain). I've indulged for two days, back to it tomorrow to lose 8 pounds by Thanksgiving!

stalled for two months!

Okay, I know your not suppose to compare yourself to others, but dang lauraellen80, you are kicking butt! I started out at 230 and am only 169 at 7 months out. I average between 1,000-1,200 per day and exercise 30 minutes per day. However, I am older (43) and am totally fine with my progress!

Losing weight, tummy staying same
akreese02 replied to newbeginnings1965's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have always (still do) lose weight in my butt, legs and face first. My waist and arms are the last to go. Right now my butt and legs are a size 10 but my waist is a 12/14. So now all of my pants look horrible and baggy. -
Thanks Babbs! I'm at a 55 pound loss at 6 months with 35 to go!
-
My hips are hurting as well. I was worried its arthritis but now it is gone! I could barely walk for about a week!

for 10/19 weigh in: 170

So I'm confused. I thought with the sleeve surgery, the part of the stomach with the hunger hormone was removed. I get our stomachs heal and eventually we can hold more food but why are people getting hungrier. I'm never truly hungry at 7 months out. I might feel tired so I need to eat and I still struggle with grazing but when it comes down to it, I'm not truly hungry.

So my school is doing a biggest loser challenge. Everyone puts $15 on + one $5 gift card and the biggest loser wins the pot. I haven't signed up because I feel like I might have an unfair advantage (or at least this will be what people will think). Thoughts?

Work biggest loser challenge
akreese02 replied to akreese02's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I pretty much had no intentions of participating. I guess a better post would have been the feeling that while I LOVE the sleeve and it has changed my life in positive ways, this scenario would be an example of where sometimes you feel left out. I don't eat in the teachers' lounge because there is SO MUCH bad food in there, it is a slippery slope. Now, I can't participate in a social activity. Of well, the positives out weigh the negatives. -
How are all the March 2015 sleevers doing?

The 180's were really hard for me to get out of (literally stayed there for 2 months)! For some reason, I'm blowing thorough the 170's. We will see how the 160's go:) -
I'm going to go ahead and post for October 5th because I know I will forget tomorrow. currently 171! Just joined orange theory so hope to meet my Halloween goal!
