I went into surgery Monday morning to do the gastric bypass after having several issues with the band last year. I woke up in recovery to find out there was more infection (this would make surgery #4 to remove infection.) in the lining of my stomach and he couldn't do the bypass. I am completely heartbroken. I had to gain several pounds just to re qualify for the surgery. I really feel like this past year has been for nothing now.

HI, I had a lapband done September 2013. I had it removed November 2013 during two emergency surgeries involving a grapefruit size abscess full of infection and a deteriorated stomach. April 1 2014 I went into another surgery where infection was removed from my abdomen. I am now facing my 5th and hopefully final surgery on Monday September 22, 2014. I did have to accept life changes with the band and have kept some of them in play, so I have my head wrapped around that part of it. But has anyone else had a revision from a lap band to a full gastric bypass? I am only 25 and this has been one of the scariest years of my life. But I am looking forward to being able to give my daughter the correct examples to live by. Does anyone have any suggestions or hints?? OH, I am a full time REALTOR and I do own my own company, so I am hoping recovery time won't be too bad!!

Soooo..... I was banded 9/10/2013 and things have been going great. I had my second fill 11/5 with no problems. I woke up 11/10 (My 25th birthday ) with alot of pain around my band... I chalked it up to a rough fill. Well the area around my port over the next 4 days grew in size as well as pain. I went to the ER on 11/14 and was un-banded 11/15. My band had eroded into my stomach (after only two months) and I had an abscess the size of a softball in my abdomen. After many MANY tears about losing my band, I was down over 30 lbs already and so excited for the future. I went BACK into surgery 11/18 because I couldn't break a fever of over 104 low blood pressure high heart rate... come to find out there was still a hole in the back side of my stomach that was leaking Fluid. So now I'm two surgeries in over one weekend and BAND-LESS... what happens now?? I did ask about doing either the sleeve (which the Army Insurance will not cover) or a full on bypass. But I was told he had to reconstruct my stomach. I am just at such a frustrating place like I failed before I even had a chance to play the game. But has anyone had anything like this happen?? ANY advice is welcome!!!

I had my 2nd feel last week and now have about a 6inch radius around my port that is hard and insanely painful! It hurts to get up or even walk. My pa said some bruising may be normal but I haven't had this happen before.... HELP!

I have this horrible pain where my breast bone is inbetween my boobs... when I take a deep breath, yawn, sneeze, hiccup.. anything. Even my back in the same area hurts. Ive done the heating pad... gas x... what is causing this?? Im 12 days post op. I knew there would be some discomfort but this is keeping me from doing anything!!

I am 1wk post op today. But I am so sore and literally all of my insides feel like they are in a vice. I quit taking the rx pain meds on Thursday but had to take some today. I am a Realtor so I did go back to work bit have been taking it really slow. Like to sit down or bend over to get something is painful. Is this normal or is something up?

I emailed my nutritionist. There are alot of mixes of people that are on full liquid diets at the same point I am just wondering why 2 weeks of clear liquid?? I live in south Louisiana. Broth just doesn't have enough flavor lol!

My Surgery was Tuesday...On the clear liquid diet.. but I just want some milk.... is that like breaking every single rule?? :ph34r:

So I've got this allergy junk going on. Stuffy nose and scratchy throat but no fever. My surgery is Tuesday morning. Will they still do it with the symptoms!?!

Hey... sooo... I started this process for the second time about a month ago and will be banded 9/10! (My first attempt I ended up pregnant with my daughter). I just recieved my surgery date 9/4 so I haven't had the full two week prep time, but have been doing the protein shakes anyway. I am 24 and live in south Louisiana... any tips or advice??
