Band Rejection - Answer to Port Problems
blossom replied to DeLarla's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well, as usual, I am late to this thread! Lisa, I am so sorry the news was not better. I hope you get to prove Lopez's theory of rejection wrong. If anybody can do it, you can!!! I am really curious as to why your body has decided to reject it, though... Get well soon! -
Holy Moly, Leatha!!! I leave the board for a couple days and look what happens, LOL! I hope you get well very, very soon. You need to go slap your co-worker around for sharing this bug with you!!!

Is it normal to have a bruise after a fill? I had my fill on Tuesday, but I just noticed this big black bruise today. The radiologist jabbed that needle into my port so hard, I felt like I had been punched in the stomach. No wonder I have felt so tender all week! As if my purple incision weren't purty enough!!!
-
Good Luck!!! Let us know how it went.
-
Wow, I hope your doing better now! What an awful way to wake up!!!
-
Wow! He sounds like a keeper to me!
-
That IS great, Tammy! Congratulations!!!

I got the fill yesterday, 1cc. I had restriction last night at supper. I made one of those SkilletSensation meals with roast beef, veggies and sauce and I could only eat about 1 1/4 cup then I got that stuffed feeling in my chest and slime in my mouth, but nothing came back up. LOL, I need to figure out how to stop before I get to that point!! I'm hoping this is real restriction and not just swelling from the fill. I am very concerned that I am already filled to 3cc's in a 4cc band and am only at the beginning of my journey. :nervous This morning I had my usual amount of coffee at around 5:30, and at about 6:45 I had a cheese omlett. No problems. By 9:30 I was hungry again so I had a Carbwell protein snack bar. Lunch went down just fine (left overs from last night), although I feel really full. However, I know that I will probably feel hunger again around 3pm. Does anyone else have mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks? I can't seem to get through the day without them!

Vera, I am proud to have my band. However, I have 3 bosses who have fretted, prayed, and agonized over my surgery and all my dr appts. They don't have a clue what kind of surgery I had and I know they will probably KILL me if they find out it is for weightloss, LOL. I really can't let them find out!!! I found out that my dr will be doing my fills from now on. They have set up a room just for lapbands at the hospital. No more radiology, YIPPEEE!
-
Pat, I finally found your description of your fill experience, LOL!!! You poor thing! I'm sorry it was so tough on you. I have been deadened with a shot of lidocain before every fill. Its a shot, but very quick and with just an itty bitty bee sting and then I imediately feel nothing. Yes, definitely ask for flouro for this next fill. According to my dr, fills are much harder to do than what they were originally told. Have you seen the pic of the port tubing that has all the holes in it in Dr. Ortiz's book??? Scares the peewaddle outta me!!!
-
I'm going incognito, LOL!!! I figured I won't be able to remain in the band closet much longer with my pic splashed all over this site, so I took it off. I have a feeling more people from my town will be hitting this site soon. We have a new surgical hospital opening up next month and I have it on good authority that there are at least 2, maybe 3 new drs. planning to do lapbands there.

Jonathan, you better eat your steak now!!! It tends to get stuck after banding. Congrats!
-
Wow! Been there and done it (or should I say ate it?). But, you know what? We're all in this together (or will be on Jan. 31), and we're gonna beat it!!! BTW, your writing is very good.
-
Another writer???? OMG! Have you 'met' Ryan (Whippledaddy) yet? You guys have gotta talk!
-
LOL!!! Marie, your killin me! Pat, I think you should insist on the flouro. The reason my dr and his partner are having fills done in radiology is because fills are not as easily done as they had been led to believe. It's been hell for them and hell for us patients, both. BTW, you never did 'splain the fainting part of your fill! Wha happen???
-
I think it is sponsored by Bandlandia. I didn't hear the commercial, but heard some talk about it at the support group. Everyone felt that it made the band look gimmicky...
-
Very cute!!!! I may have to go to Target too!
-
Aaaawwwwww!!! How sweet! Why would he need a special occassion when he has such a special and wonderful woman??? What a man!
-
Wow!!! I went to a support group meeting last night and found out I am not the only one with a REDNECK band!!! There was a man there who had a fill and the radiologist who did it missed the port completely. And this was under flouro!!!! Duh!
-
Went to a support group meeting last night and one of the 2 local lapband drs showed up. Among other things, he informed us that Cigna is in the process of putting into place a NATIONWIDE policy that excludes lapband surgery. He also said that Aetna will mostly likely do the same. On a local level, Blue Cross/Blue Shield with the Texas Teacher Retirement System (TRS) will continue to pay for the surgery for now, however, all other BC/BS policies in Texas will exclude lapband surgery. He did not say when all of these changes will go into effect. Whats up with all these exclusions, all of a sudden???

Congratulations and Welcome to Bandland!!!
