Ok, anybody got a belly shot??? LOL!! Sorry, I don't have a pic of my scars to show at the moment. Here is the website for the maker of Lapband http://www.inamed.com/products/obesity/us/patient/patient.html They have pics of the band and lots of info you should be reading. Lots of people can feel their ports if they press in the area. I can't feel mine, although I can feel either the band or the tube higher up on my tummy. I have heard of some people who have lost all of their weight having surgery to move the port where it is less noticable, or because it was in a place where their clothing irritated it. As I understand it, as the body shrinks your port can move into a new location from where it was to begin with. I'm not sure I will ever shrink that much, LOL! All of my incisions starting itching about the 3rd week after surgery. I was constantly scratching at my belly! My dr said it was just the nerves growing back together. I would say it lasted a good 3 weeks. Now it's just an occassional little itch.

Get documentation of any/all medical problems. Document any past weightloss attempts whether you did it on your own or with a dr. Document any significant family medical history (heart disease, stroke, diabetes...). Get a letter from your PCP stating that you would benefit from WLS. Remember, your insurance doesn't care why you think you need WLS, they just want the facts, so be sure to give them plenty! Good luck!!!

Julie, I had to get 3 fills before I started having a weightloss. Finally, the scale is starting to move, verrrry slowly.

Yep! He's a cutie! But what's amazing is that Lisa is sitting there with that sweet smile and a huge hole in her gut!!! Girl, you just amaze me!
-
Kathy, I had the same problem until one day I saw myself in a storefront window as I was shopping. Took the wind right outta my sails! That was the day I started looking into WLS.

bandit, I haven't had a real pb yet, but I have had what I call a hard swallow in which it feels like the food is stuck somewhere in my chest and I get lots of saliva in my mouth. It's very painful and I tend to get that 'deer in the headlights' look when it happens. Sometimes I have to go spit the saliva out, before it will get better. This has happened to me in restruants, too. Usually, I'm just with my dh so it doesn't matter if he sees me, he knows what is going on. But when I go out with others who don't know about my band, I am very careful about what I order. Usually soup and salad because I know it goes down easy for me. My advice is learn what foods are easy for you to eat and order those when you are around people you don't want to know about your band. Be sure you chew, chew, chew before swallowing and take tiny bites. Hope this helps.

Jonathan, if you are still not keeping any liquids down, I think you should contact your dr.

Thanks, Penni!!!! Lots of good info there! -
Where is Penni's homework thread? I've looked and looked and I can't find it.
-
WTG, Ryan!!! Congrats on the loss and lots of luck with the fill!
-
I'm sorry for the delay! But remember that's just what it is, a delay. You will get your band, but obviously there are some important issues that need to be attended to first. Stay focused on your goal and it will happen before you know it. Good luck!

I mean that while standing up, I can put my hand on my stomach and feel something big. I think it's my band. I know its not my port, because it's way higher up from where they stick me for a fill. Anyway, I have noticed this ever since my swelling went away and wondered if anyone else can feel theirs?

Marie!!!! Sounds like you've become our newest HOT MAMA!!!

That liquid Lortab had me sliming over the sink, too. I took one dose after I got home and never touched that stuff again. NASTY!!!

My prayers and thoughts are with you, Brenda! -
Thanks for shedding some light on that, Donali! Looks like I have yet to experience a real PB, then. I don't ever want to, LOL!

I've had a couple of margarita's and a couple glasses of wine since I was banded in November. If you enjoy a cocktail, there is nothing wrong with having one. Just remember the calories and practice moderation. A drink every now and then won't stop your weightloss.

Wow! I was actually shocked speechless that Penni had posted such a thread, LOL!! I couldn't have responded even if I had wanted to!!! Anyway, though, I'm glad it made you laugh when you were feeling so bad. Hope you're ok. Is Chris taking good care of you? He better be or we will send Penni over to kick his ass, LOL!!!

What kind of discomfort with food?
blossom replied to mistybreezes's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Misti, did you know that there is a pizza flavored Campbells Soup at Hand? I have not tried it yet, but since your craving pizza.... I think of food that I cannot tolerate as being those that consistantly give me any kind of problems going down, whether is it pain or sliming or gas. I haven't actually thrown up yet but some people do.
