Htx_Pepper replied to fashionstylist's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oh ok. Not sure where i got 14cc's from, Sorry! But im at 4cc's in a 10cc band also for the past 10days and im nt feeling any restriction either. Im not due back until 9/27 but like u, im also considering making an appt prior to that. ;( -
Haha! Carbs are the enemy! On my 48hrs after my first fill i have Protein shakes AND a Wendys chocolate Frosty! Small of course. Hey, frostys arent solids right.... Im sure its also the reason why my weight loss has been so slow, 16lbs in 6 weeks... So weigh the risks.... And Good Luck =)

2nd Fill and Nothing is Happening
Htx_Pepper replied to fashionstylist's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
So for a band tht holds 14cc's, u now only have 1.5 filled????? Thats tragic! Can u see someone else? Tht wld really frustrate me!!! Before your fill do you complete a questionaire letting them know the extent of ur hunger and how much ur able to comfortably tolerate at meal time? -
How the Lap-Band actually works, fills and refills
Htx_Pepper replied to Wendell Edwards's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes I've been at 4cc's now for 10 days. And yes i still feel as if im consuming far more than i should. My next fill/adjustment isnt until 9/27 and i cant wait!! My nurse did say tht i shld begin to feel GREENER somewhere between 5-7. I'll surely need & depend on this restriction to get me thru the holiday season!! -
Wow! You're lucky! I have 4cc's in a 10cc band and i still feel like i can tolerate too much & am hungrier a lot often than i feel i should. My nurse said i should expect GREEN around 5-7cc's.. My weight loss has been slow, only 14lbs in 6 weeks. Although i do expect to reach goal by new years.

Feeling down... Not where I need to be
Htx_Pepper replied to Tiffany3280's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes i did the research on the band and weighed the pros and cons of all but it doesnt compare to actually getting the band to only find out weight loss isnt guaranteed and its also not gonna come off as easily as i'd hoped. This whole bandsters hell is new to me and we're all in some way or another dependent upon routine 'Fills' and chasing the 'green zone' Thats something i found out once the band was installed. -
My surgery was on a thursday i was back at wrk tuesday morning. The liquid pain meds the surgeon prescribed was hard to find so i chewed cvs brand tylenol for the discomfort. And it worked perfectly! By Saturday i was driving around town and grocery shopping and back to my old self and by Tuesday when i got to wrk only the gas pains were lingering. Lap Band while it is a pretty serious procedure isnt as intrusive as the sleeve and all the other wls Im no doctor and everybodys different but i believe you'll be just fine *Smile

One week post op today
Htx_Pepper replied to ms kat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded August 1 (with no fill). Im on week 3 & the gas & swelling has subsided. Hunger has also returned. I feel like im gonna regain the initial 10 i lost in the first recovering weeks. My first fill is august 30th. I hear most people say they dont feel restriction until their 2nd and 3rd fills. Makes me rethink the whole band thing. Probably shld hve gone with the Sleeve tht needs no filler at all. Those patients begin losing from day 1. -

Week 4...Hungry ALLLL the Time?!?!!
Htx_Pepper replied to txgirl10326's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded august 1st without filler. The first 2 weeks i lost 10lbs bcuz of the internal swelling & tenderness & discomfort which left me with no appetite! This 3rd week my pre-band hunger has returned!! My first fill is the 30th. Sounds like i wont be getting the necessary restrictions for months down the line. It makes me regret gettn the band. I shldve gotten the sleeve where no fills are needed. Im growing quite impatient & annoyed with family & friends asking how much ive lost. They shld give us home filler kits!! Hopefully there'll be a doctor on the black market soon to give us the fills we need... What do we want? RESTRICTION When do we want it? NOW #corny #therehastobeabetterway #wishfulthinking -

5 1/2months out 4fills later feeling restriction
Htx_Pepper replied to sevenb7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded Aug 1st with no fill. I lost 10lbs the first two weeks due to the internal swelling and jst from the liquid diet i was on, but now this 3rd week my hunger is back! With Vengeance! And my family and friends are texting me daily to see how much ive lost and im embarrassed to keep saying the same 10lbs in my 3rd week!! Now im unable to eat an entire can of Soup in one sitting so i eat half and then in 4hrs when im hungry again i finish the other half. August 30th will be my first fill from listening to your stories i probably wont go from 0 to 6cc's on the first fill. I wish there was a way to do our own fills in the comfort of our own home! I think they know its best not to leave that sort of control in our own hands!! Ha! #wishfulthinking -

My neighbor's celebrating her1 year anniversary this month. Shes lost 60lbs in 12 months when u average it out thts only 5lbs per month. Her highest weight was 307. And she has no loose skin. She looks Great! She doesnt eat right she has small portions of junk all day long. She drinks alcohol on weekends sodas and even breads whenever she wants. She says shes excited to have lost the 60 than to have gained 60 I love her rock star personality! -

Htx_Pepper replied to wilo lopez's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was able to fill up on sugarfree popsicles, Jello, and the Atkins Protein shakes. I ate mints and peppermints or anything that dissolved in my mouth in between for the bad taste in my mouth from being nauseated all those days -

Jealous? This guy has not 1 jealous bone in his body. Nobody wants me is probably what hes thinking. I guess time will tell. Hes still eating junk food and im not We once had that in common LOL -
Amberley, what did u do for the itching? Ive gone thru an entire bottle of rubbing alcohol in one night? Welcome Wilo! Im 12 days in. The gas has subsided walking was the only thing tht relieved the pressure! Good luck with everything!

Also, make sure ur not eating a lot of salt. Salt retains Water weight. I learned this from eating Ramen Noodles back in college. ? My first week out of surgery i lost only 5 lbs while every one else here on the site were dropping 9 or more their first week. I too was too nauseated to eat or drink those first 4-5 days so idk why the slow lost. Also, I hadnt gone #2 since night before surgery so a good laxative helped with that bloat and water. Jst a few things to consider.. Good Luck!

NO WL on pre-op Liquid diet??
Htx_Pepper replied to IveyinKY's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost nothing on the pre-op. i found it to be very unrealistic. I gave it 110% for 4 days before i cheated. If i cld lose weight on my own i wldnt need lap band. Its impossible to go cold turkey overnight. Even with sitting outside during lunch where people arent eating was difficult.. When the nurse called 3days before my surgery date to give me the arrival time she asked how was the preop diet goin and i told her terribly!! She said as long as i hadnt gained from the last visit it wld be fine. August 1 my surgery went off without a hitch. I paid outta pocket for the procedure so idk if it wldve been different if my insurance was paying. I know the insurance companies come with certain stipulations. And idk get why some doctors require the preop and others do not. The only thing tht wld get ur surgery cancelled is eating the night before U must go on a 12 hr fast im talkn not even a drop of Water from brushing ur teeth 12hrs before surgery. Now that will have them send u packing! -
Just banded and port sticks out!! HELP!
Htx_Pepper replied to Motherof2's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Im 1week 1day out and i can feel the "egg" but i cant exactly see it and my scars are itching like crazy! -
72hrs before the surgery a nurse will call to reiterate the 12hr fast before surgery. If the doctor does find that u've eaten within tht time he'll cancel the surgery and send u packing. Not even a sip of Water from brushing ur teeth is allowed 12hrs prior. No i dont recommend tht u deviate from the pre op protocol give it 110% if not more. Im not sure how it works when insurance is paying. But as days go by it gets VERY difficult. By the 4th day my stomach was growling i was light headed with the shakes. By the 5th day i was over it. I cheated. If i had that type of discipline I wldnt need lap band.
-
I was very unsuccessful with the pre-op. Day 1 was easy bcuz i had just eaten like a pig the night before. I dont understand how some surgeons require the pre-op and others do not. Needless to say i did the very best i could but trying to go cold turkey was impossible for me. On the 12th day i called my drs office and told the nurses my pre op wasnt going well. She asked whether or not id gained anything since my last visit and without knowing for sure i just said No. She said as long as i hadnt put any weight on it wld be ok. I guess i shld also add tht i paid outta pocket and didnt have to adhere to the insurance stipulations and guidelines. I was also 205. And Im sure my surgeon has had to move larger livers in his day.

adderall during the pre op diet: yay or nay?
Htx_Pepper replied to aug13hereIcome's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I stopped my adderall 3 days before surgery against my nurses orders. She'd specifically asked that i stop 9 days before surgery but like u said i needed them for concentration. I drank a ton of Water those 3 days making sure my urine was clear as sometimes the adderall makes it really heavy and yellow. My surgery was August 1 and there were no complications. But call ur doctors offices and ask anonymously what the safest thing to do as far as adderall goes
