I had surgery two weeks ago today and am feeling better than I thought possible. Really, I'm feeling better than I have in about a year! Hit my highest weight in July and since then, I'm down 35 pounds! Since surgery, I'm down 27 pounds! I know harder days are coming, but I'm thrilled! Maybe even better than the weight, is the walking. I started a regular walk the day after I came home with about a half a mile. Each day I have been able to increase and I'm up to about 2.5 miles now! This is the best decision I've made since marrying my husband!

Revison with Baby when can you lift?
eenswm replied to Poorehouse's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I actually just had the sleeve on August 19. My band was removed over a year and a half ago after pregnancy. My daughter is now 20 months old and weighs about 24 lbs. My doctor doesn't want me lifting her for 6 weeks which is easier said than done. My husband was home all last week and then this week, he was planning on staying home as well, but by Tuesday, I told him to go ahead and go to work (which he did for half a day). I'm doing my best not to lift her, but even the doc recognizes that it isn't possible to be a mom and not lift your child. I try to sit on the couch and have her climb up to me or climb up on a chair before i hold he so I'm not lifting her from the ground. The one thing I won't do just yet is take her out for a walk or to the park by myself yet. If she falls on the ground, it would be difficult for me to pick her up from the ground. I'm very lucky in that I bounce back exceptionally quickly from any injury or surgery. I felt lousy the first day in the hospital because of nausea (no pain) but by day two I was ready to go home. I never touched the pain meds and took only tylenol to cure the tenderness I feel. Good luck with the decision and the surgery. Let us know how you're doing! -
Do your protein shakes count toward your liquid consumption? I'm day-4 post-op and struggling to get 64 oz of fluid in plus 60 grams of protein.

Well, Monday morning at 6 am I will be getting my sleeve. I had a band placed about three and a half years ago and had to have it removed last March after begin pregnant with horrible morning sickness throughout the pregnancy (9 months of vomiting made the band slip). I gained all the weight - 80 lbs - plus a few extra pounds. Now I'm looking forward to the sleeve and to restarting this journey. I did really well with the band. Did anyone else have such a long time between surgeries? Do you think losing with the sleeve is similar? I would love to hear back from people. Thanks!

So I don't know how to quote each of you, but good luck to both the people having surgery on Monday! Let's keep in touch. Always helpful to talk to someone else going through the same thing!
