    Traveling = Tight

    Hey all - I've had the band for about 5 years now. Does anyone have trouble when they travel? I've been traveling a lot for work lately and everytime I get SO tight where I can't eat at all. Anyone else have this problem? Normally I can eat just fine, barely ever PB.

    Carol, that's completely up to you if you want to wait on fill. It seems like a lot of people have this issue, but it doesn't mean everyone will. Maybe get a very small fill. Others that have responded... Thanks for the responses.. Glad to know I'm not the only one!

    First day that I've been able to eat "normal" since I've been here. Think my body just needed to adjust to the difference.

    Totally Discouraged :(

    As others have said, based off what I read in your post, it seems you may be too tight. Just as other people without the band experience, if you do not eat enough, it can halt weight loss or even make you gain weight. Have you checked with your surgeon on maybe getting a little taken out? Even the smallest amount could make a huge difference. Also, what types of foods are you eating? If you're having difficult keeping foods down and are instead taking in higher calorie liquid/mush type foods, that could halt weight loss as well. If you're constantly hungry, drink tons of water and eat every 2-3 hours very small meals. I am constantly eating... Oatmeal for breakfast, banana for snack, lunch, grapes for another snack, another snack before gym, then dinner. People always tell me "you're ALWAYS eating" and they're right, but I'm seeing results. And of course, we can't forget about exercising. If you're not exerting any energy, it will be difficult to lose weight. If you can, try to do at least a half hour of working out at least 3-5 days a week. Best of luck and don't get discouraged! We all go through plateaus!! :-)

    Yeah I've been in DC since Sunday (came from Denver) and I've had this issues since I got here. Late night snacking works but morning and lunch I can only have a few bites. And I'm in the same boat, I'm at a conference where food is catered and I've got this huge plate in front of me and others at conference do not know about band so I just keep telling them my stomach has been uneasy with travel. :-/

    Yeah, by flight.. I've been drinking tons of water and it doesn't help
  7. Carbonated drinks are a no-no according to almost all our docs and I definitely think all should follow that advice until they are comfortable with how their band works. I drink carbonated drinks every now and then, but definitely not near as much as I used to. I've had the band for 5 years.
  8. Anesthesia or medications can have a side effect of blurred vision, but if it last more than a few days with no improvement, I would contact your doc.
