    January 28!!!

I really have just begun to use this website...so I know this post was MONTHS ago, but I was banding January 28th as well. How have you been doing with your weight loss?

I Know This Has Been Discussed Before, But.....

As I was typing my reply I was thinking that...my doctor has always been rather conservative with fills...although twice, knowing that I wasn't having my hunger reduced, he did larger fills of .5 each. It is that sometimes self doubt creeps in, especially when reading other people's experiences with low fills.

I Know This Has Been Discussed Before, But.....

I have the Realize Band at 11ccs, I have a little over 6 ccs in it already. My last fill was Oct 28. I have lost a total of 47lbs including pre surgery weight loss. My surgery was Jan. 28. I am hungry after about 2 hours or so. No problems ie PBs, sliming, stuck. No liquid calories ever. My PA that does fills (whom I LOVE) is very encouraging. He says I am on the right track and we will get there. I just have moments of panic as I read things on here sometimes saying that people are in the green zone with no fills or that the green zone usually comes between fills 2 and 4.

    Lying About LapBand

I think it is a very personal decision. I told only my mom, my hubby, my siblings and my best friend. I regret telling my siblings. In the beginning two of them were supportive...but now not a word. The one was never supportive; I think b/c she is over weight too and there may be jealousy issues. She had just lost a good deal of weight and her response to my surgery was that I was going to have loose skin. Yes, I have a tool, but the majority of the work is mine. Christina Rose, I wish you much success this go around!

    help(I really want it)

I understand where you are coming from....whenever I am on the phone with my sister (which is rare... ) I head straight to the snack cupboard. I realized what I was doing and purposefully stopped myself and headed to a room that was far from the kitchen. Over the past year I have had to do a lot of emotional growing...my sister and my relationship is the same...she is not interested in changing it, but I changed myself. Slowly. You can only change yourself, not other people. Knowing your triggers (ie my sister) helps. Deal with it head on. Make conscious decisions. It takes a while, but it will get better!

soooo hungry. only day 2 of pre-op diet

Glad you found something you can tolerate. i don't do well with protein shakes either...I don't like milk at all...so even the texture turns me off. I do know that when I went to GNC, they allowed me to try samples of their protein shakes, all different flavors. They have open bottles in a fridge to allow customers to taste test.

I don't know why we can't all just be good to each other...doesn't it take just as much or LESS energy to say something nice as opposed to something not nice? I know how good it makes me feel when people say or do the littlest kindness...so I try to do that...why can't we all lift each other up and make one another feel good rather than drag one another down? My weight loss journey has involved a lot of soul searching....I have grown and changed so much....I think that is important especially for those of us that have some emotional eating problems.
  14. Hello all. I was banded in January of this year. I have visited this site many, many times to get answers to many questions. Today I decided to actually 'join.' First, everyone on here seems so nice and supportive. What a great group of people with wonderful, informative answers. You all have helped me tremdously already. I wonder how many of you all have told others you were banded as opposed to keeping it to yourselves? I told my immediate family and friends but no one else. I actually regret telling my sisters at this point....though had I not told them I would have regretted that as well, I suppose. Anyway, thanks for listening and hopefully inviting me into the fold as I learn to navigate this site!

Sorry it took me so long to reply...I am still learning how to navigate this site!!!!

Wow!!! 100lbs! That is phenomenal!!! What an inspiration. And do you think men, as a general rule, don't care as much about what other people think? I know my husband cares a lot less about what other people think then I do....LOL

Been in a Plateau for the last 1.5 months :(

Maybe change up what you eat a bit...add more carbs, eat a few more calories one day, restrict more the next, that kind of thing. I have plateaued, as we all have or will, and then there will be an occasion where I eat more than normal (this summer a big group camping trip...everyone brought food and shared)...I was careful, but ate different than normal. I would have sworn I gained weight, but after arriving home, I lost 2 or 3 lbs. Crazy, but I think sometimes we need to keep our body guessing...keep it out of the rut. Good luck! And congrats on almost 100lbs!!!!!

My mother in law, who usually has nothing positive to say, unless it is a backed handed compliment, HAS noticed AND complimented me...which makes the fact that my 2 sisters, who have said NOTHING, look like even bigger ___________...fill in the blank.

    Will this work for me?

My experience....I have had a lot of fills...have yet to get to the green zone. I still feel hungry and can eat too much. But I keep plugging away, log my food on MFP and stick with it...why is it different this time with the band as opposed to without,..? Because I see a light at the end of the tunnel...I know eventually the band will kick in fully and I will have the extra help to making staying the course easier. Also, I, as most bandsters, have gone through a lot to actually get the band..I don't want to waste those blood, sweat and tears to slide back into the old me. You have to WORK with the band, it is not going to do it for you, but it does make it easier. And this from someone NOT in the green zone, but still down 46 lbs.

You look phenomenal!!! What an inspiration you are to the rest of us! (I really like your hair too, by the way). I do think you need to start showing off your new slimmer figure though...no more cowl neck, loose boxy sweaters. It is tough to let those types of clothes go, I know, but do it! I still go to try on something and hold it up and look at it and think, 'this is never gonna fit!' And when it does I am shocked...every. single. time. Take pride in your new, healthy body...

    Been hiding on the outskirts

Thank you for your input. I have had the support of my husband and oldest son (my little one doesn't know...too young to understand). My mom has been wonderful and my aunt and best friend are supportive as well. My 2 sisters and brother....meh...not so much. They never comment on the weight loss...ever. I got positive feedback from them when I told them that I was able to reduce greatly my meds due to weightloss. I guess I should be grateful for what I have and move on. I am grateful for the 42 lbs I have lost! Hoping to hit the green zone soon, though and really get this party started!
