LOVE all of these!!!! My NSV's are *Went from 5-6 shots a day for diabetes to 1 (ONE!!!!) *From taking 2 orals meds to 1, all for diabetes *Crossing my legs *Bending over to tie my shoes or my son's without getting red in the face or feel like I will pass out *Having my heart rate drop from the 80's to the 60's *NOT feeling like everyone was looking at me thinking how big I was every time I was in public *Buying cuter clothes *Sweating because I want to not because it just occurs naturally from doing not much of anything *Being able to sit like a kid on my couch (ie feet hiked up, knees near my chest kind of thing). Finding at least one picture that I think, 'thats not so bad' instead of any photo of myself making me sick to my stomach That is just a few!!! Can't wait to have many, many more!!!! -
We are all with you!!! I had my surgery this PAST January! Rooting for you!

I am also not a veteran. I am just shy of a year in....but encouragement is always here! The above advice is great! Go back to the basics. Retrain your brain and let your band do the rest. Protein, protein, protein and exercise!

Every doctor seems to be different....I have not been told not to eat before a fill. But after I have to be on liquid for 2 days, then soft foods for a day and then regular food.
-
Sorry, but I had to chuckle over the 'waffle' comment. Hang in there girl! It will come! I had a fill last Monday...my weight has stayed the same for 2 months! I am afraid to jinx it, but I think I am ALMOST in the green zone. I am starting to feel what the green zone is going to feel like off and on. I have just a little under 8ccs in a 12cc band. Until my next fill it is up to me to stay on track; it will get easier....there is a light at the end of the tunnel; we just have to hang on until we reach it!

Good luck today, Bandista!!! Remember it takes time! The hunger does not disappear right away...(usually!)

At B-52...well put!!!! -
Yes, I do have restriction, but I am not considered in the green zone, as a small amount of food does not keep me satisfied for 4 hours. My band holds 12 and I am just under 8.

We have all experienced panic mode over something once we have this band...or at least I have! Take a breath. We are here for support. You will do just fine. It didn't take a month to put it on and it won't take a month to take it off. And the scale will move...up and down....but down will prevail, as will you.

Thanksgiving Resolution Or "pre New Years Resolution"
Sherlock1969 replied to SandyM's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Great post Sandy! And I agree...I am not fond of exercise either but do indeed feel great once it is done; both mentally and physically! I once read re: excercise...if you had cancer you would make time to go for treatments...think of excerise the same way...it is necesary to regain good health! -
My doctor said that some women have said that their band gets tighter during their menstral cycle...I have not had that experience, but my band hasn't been 'tight enough' until recently. He also advises it is better to get a small unfill at the first sign of a problem because if you wait you could end up getting a complete unfill and starting over. So a small unfill may set you back a bit but the other option could set you WAY back. Good luck!

I am in the same boat as Pepper28...except I was banded Jan 28. I have not hit the infamous green zone yet. Every body is different and every doctor is different with how much they are willing to put in at each fill. My doctor takes it slow. I am good with that...for the most part. lol

LOVE all of these responses! Thanks for posting. Happy Thanksgiving!

Question About Weight Loss & Adjustment

Hmmmm...not there yet to be able to comment. But am curious about responses to this... -
OH! I am so very sorry. I can understand your disappointment. When I first called they told me it wasn't covered either, but luckily I keep digging and they covered it. I hope things work out for you. Hugs.

I Know This Has Been Discussed Before, But.....
Sherlock1969 posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just read people talking about no fills, or 2 to 5 fills being what gets you to the green zone. I have had like 6 fills and I don't think I am in the green zone yet. I know everyone is different, but reading these things gives me a moment of self doubt....is this not gonna work for me? am I not going to get into the green zone? Ugh. Reassurance needed.... -
I found the sweet no calorie drink theory to be interesting! I may have to change things up a bit and test that out. I think it is quite a process to reevaluate what is true hunger and what is not. It is a learning curve and I am still learning! @ Jim1967, I wanna lose interest in food!!!!!
-
I am not to the green zone yet, but I have never had any pain after a fill.
-
Not bad at all! I was so nervous for my first fill and I used to give myself 6 shots in the stomach a DAY! Don't look at the needle, it can be intimidating. Usually my doc pushing around my port to find the right spot 'hurts' more than the needle stick. And I say 'hurts' very loosly, b/c it really didn't hurt..just pushing. And after all that feeling around "I" think it kind of numbs the area....I really barely feel the needle. Now once they put it in, I find it feels a little strange when they put the Fluid in...like a pulsing feeling. Each time gets easier. Good luck!

My doctor said my port is a little 'weird' too....he has me push out my stomach and laugh out loud and that helps him find it everytime. Good luck!

I Know This Has Been Discussed Before, But.....

Wow! 132 pounds lost! That is fantastic! I eat right most days....but often it doesn't 'fill' me up like I think it should. A salad with chicken for lunch will still leave me feeling some hunger. I would say lunch is the toughest for me. I do still get my period; more regular now than I have ever been (I am 44). I do exercise. Aerobic exercise in the morning and a half an hour walk most every afternoon. I aim for 1200 calories and eat back most of my exercise calories. My nutritioinist told me to eat 1500 calories, but I set it at 1200 to allow for any overestimates in the exercise allowances...if that makes sense. I am all about slow and steady wins the race. I just get frustrated sometimes because I am still hungry. And like I said, reading people getting in the green zone before they have a fill or within 6, sometimes makes me question myself. Thank you all for the replys...it has helped me get my head around things better! -

Thank you so much Jean for reminding me of what I alreday know (including the fact that women compensate with greater wisdom). A moment of weakness that I knew if I shared would be relieved quicker than if I kept it to myself. I go every month (4 weeks) for fills...my next is scheduled already for a few days before Thanksgiving. LOL
