  1. Soooooooo...how are we all doing on the Halloween Candy front? lol I'm REALLY proud of myself so far! We've got entirely too much candy in this house waiting for trick or treaters, and I've only eaten ONE small piece of it. One of those little two bite kit kats. And I know I should technically be like OH NO! I SHOULDN'T BE EATING CANDY! But considering last year I would sit there and polish off half a bag all by myself...I think I've shown pretty good restraint! ^.^
  2. I'm trying really hard not to beat myself up over the same kind of slip up last week, so you're not allowed to, either!! I think we're all going to have them every so often. Everyone, banded or otherwise, have weeks where they just plain eat like crap. I think it's really just a normal part of life in general. We just have to make sure we don't let those slips happen too often, and that we get our heads back on straight and get back on track after an off week!
  3. Banded July 24th, now down 54 pounds. Thankfully I go for a third fill Monday because in the last two weeks I've gotten so loose I could eat a cow! Lol
  4. I have found myself recently experiencing food guilt. Not just when I cheat and have something I shouldn't, but virtually every single day. At the end of the day, no matter how well I have eaten, no matter how small my meals have been, I find myself thinking "I ate entirely too much today.", "I'm going to fail if I keep eating like this.", etc. Then I'm shocked out of my mind when I do my weekly weigh in and find I've lost a couple of pounds! haha Has anybody else experienced this after WLS?
  5. I've lost 54 pounds since my initial consultation with my surgeon on June 24th (surgery on July 24th). I'm down three jeans sizes, my bras no longer fit right, and my rings spin all day long on my fingers. I've already got a ton more energy than I have the last several years, I'm sleeping better, and I'm starting to get a little more comfortable in my own skin. Almost every day someone asks me how much weight I've lost so far because it's starting to become noticeable to even people who see me all the time. THIS ROCKS!!!! =D
  6. What they said! Walking and a heating pad...plus when I had my gallbladder surgery years ago, I found putting a pillow on the aching shoulder and laying my head over on it (applying pressure) was a great temporary relief. I'm so thankful I didn't have much gas pain with my band! I was dreading it!
  7. I was banded July 24th, just had my second fill today (I had went in for something else and we decided to do another while I was there), and everything is just awesome! I've had a few problems here and there, but nothing I can't deal with! Down 38 pounds so far. I'm still so excited! THIS IS GONNA WORK!!! =D
  8. I'm almost 2 months post op, not yet in the "green zone" and can drink quite normally. I can take several big drinks at a time without noticing anything out of the ordinary.
  9. I've been lurking around reading everyone's posts since before I had my surgery, so I figured it's about time to finally introduce myself and tell my story! So, I'm Tara, a 33 year old woman who recently married my love who I've lived with for over 12 years. I think that was the defining day for me. We had planned on getting married for years and years, but finally decided to just go to the court house with a couple of family members and do the deed. I couldn't even stand to have people take pictures of me/us that day. I know everyone wanted them, and I should have as well, but at almost 320 pounds I just couldn't stomach the idea. Of course, that's only one of a laundry list of things I face on a daily basis being this size. Struggling to physically keep up at work, with my husband, with my own body, heath problems, missing out on life in general...I could go on for days. I've been talking about having this procedure since I was in my early 20s, and then everything suddenly happened so fast! A lot of days I'm still trying to wrap my brain around it all. On June 24th I had my initial consultation with my lap band surgeon. It took only a month to get insurance approval, do preop things, a week of the dreaded liquid diet, etc. One month to the day later, on July 24th, I got my band! I had a small problem early on, too much Fluid was left in when they tested the band during surgery, so I had extreme pain anytime I tried to take even a small sip of Water. Hitting a weekend and surgeon vacations, I ended up like that for 7 days before I could get in to have it unfilled. He got about 1cc of fluid plus air out. IMMEDIATE RELIEF! I just had my first fill a few days ago, and he put 2cc back in and it feels great. I can drink without problems and my hunger is managed well for now. Since the day of my initial consultation with the surgeon, I have lost 34 pounds. WOO HOO! I think I've FINALLY found a tool that works for me!!!
