Also, If you are not seeing replies to your posts concerning Slimband, I wanted to let you know that I have seen very few people from Canada here. The few that I have seen are all Smart Shape clients (like myself).
-
I highly doubt they would leave you high and dry. In fact it is probably illegal here in Canada. I think things will work out. They are probably a little up-side-down at the moment and may be experiencing a high volume of concerns. Don't worry . When were you banded?

Mine had 3.5 cc in it. I know this because it had to be removed because I was SUPER swollen and had complications.

Upset and saddened with possible news of erosion

Crossing my fingers everything will be ok for you. Let us know how it goes. -
I dont know....I am no expert for sure. But do you think you might be too tight? My band made noise like that when I was first banded and VERY tight.

Third fills the charm!

Congrats on breaking the plateau! I asked the same question about water and from what I have been reading, not being able to chug Water may be a sign you are too tight or close to it. I could be wrong though. I can chug water, but I am not at the green zone yet. -
I know ill get a ton of mixed opionons on this but whats your opinion of low carbing?
jennybean replied to Wendydarling19's topic in Food and Nutrition
I have thought about going low carb because it seems to be the easiest way to lose weight for me. But for now, I am trying to eat everything in moderation while still following the lap band rules and hoping that the weight will come off without "dieting". I like to be able to have a sandwich or fruit without stressing about it too much. If I find that once I am in the green zone and the weight wont budge, then I will try low carb. Personally, I think bansters are relatively low carb to begin with if we follow the lapband rules and the fact that we really can't eat a lot of volume. -
Also, there is a great website called whyquit.com. I read every single thing on this website, including all of the true life stories of lung cancer, early deaths, etc. You have to get in the mindset that you really want to quit and this website helps. I also joined a forum with others trying to quit.

I smoked for a very long time and was fairly heavy smoker. I went on Champix (Chantex in the USA?). It was a miracle for me. I have been smoke free for about 4 years.

Glad I never called Slimband and went right to Smart Shape in Mississauga.

Wow! Slow Start but Finally Starting to Work?!?!?
jennybean posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wow, had my 5th fill and think I may finally be there or close! I had a rough start, had ZERO cc's in my band due to major swelling complications. The fills have been painfully small for the same reason. My weight loss has basically been non-existent and I was starting to get down on myself. As you can see from my ticker things are not going well to this point. I have only lost 2 pounds since post-op and that was after the January fill and a major struggle at that. My fills were as follows: 2 cc October 0.5 November 0.2 December 0.2 January 0.2 February I have been trying really hard not to "diet". I really do NOT want to have to diet. I have been keeping my portions small and mostly Protein. But I have been snacking and looking for food all the time. Stating to get really frustrated, until now! Now after this last fill I don't feel hungry AND not really that interested in food. Is this what I have been waiting for??? I hope so!! I finally feel GOOD about this and feel like it will start working!! I pray that this will work for me!! -
I feel sorry for you!! Don't blame yourself for not losing! I have not lost much either since post-op and I know it is because I need more fills. I have had 5 very small fills and still not there yet. Don't give up because of your circumstances. They will change eventually and this is a life long journey.

This is a loaded question LOL. There is a lot of argument over this on here!! Doctors have different opinions. I guess the best advice is to follow your doctors orders, then if something goes wrong you won't be to blame. Personally, my doctor says once the tiny bite of food you are supposed to be taking has passed the band (approx 45 seconds) it is ok to take a sip because the food has already triggered the nerves it needs to trigger by passing on through.

I think you are right about the process...it seems like the process is going about the same for me. I have gone through all of the stages and should be at the serious weight loss phase now I have been a little upset about the small fills, but in the end it might be best for me. Little by little things are happening. -
I have been reading some posts on here about some problems gulping Water. I have no problem gulping water down fast - AT ALL. Does this mean I am not in the green zone yet?
-
Brunhilde?? Hahahaha too funny!

They will only do fills once every 4 weeks (NO SOONER...or so I am told. I have not tried to persuade too much) At this point of my schedule they normally go 6 weeks, but since I had bad swelling from surgery they are going extremely slow with me and allow me to come in at the 4 week mark still. They say sometimes it takes 2 weeks or more to feel the full effect of the fill. (My first fill was at the 4 week mark and I had to call them to schedule)

Lucky girl! Hope to be there someday too. Congrats! -
Thanks everyone for your answers!

Hi Cat225! I was banded at the same clinic in September. They never said to take small sips (only during the few days post-op). No rules for drinking Water slowly that I am aware of. I am going to ask them at the next visit to make sure I am not doing anything wrong. I gulp water all the time .

Diets we used to be on, and why they didn't work
jennybean replied to Skywalker's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have dieted 2/3rds of my life away! I have tried every diet out there and would lose about 10-20 lbs with a horrendous struggle. The only time weight ever came of nicely was with a very low calorie diet (600 per day). When I started to eat "normally" again the weight came back on VERY fast and then some. So depressing! -
BAD Headaches lately...
jennybean replied to ccjll's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wonder if the weather might have something to do with it? Not sure if you have been experiencing weird weather where you are, but it has been pretty strange this winter. Also, have you been drinking enough fluids? I find if I am dehydrated, I get bad headaches. Are you eating anything different that you may have an allergy/intolerance to? I take tylenol in pill form, but if you are worried you could try the liquid form.
