Hello.. well its been 24 hours since I have gotten home from hospital. My lap bad surgery went well everything is going good so far. I tolerated the clear liquids last night, so I moved on to cream soup today. I can eat about a half a cup at a time, no real pain =) I also have some left shoulder pain from the gas they used, I have been walking as much as I can. I have stari-strips on 4 of the 5 incision but the 5th by port has a gauze pad and huge adhesive clear pad on it. I am bruised by port. If you have any questions lemme know I will try to answer. -- Debbi

Less then 24 hours and I will be banded. Surgery is at 3.. Suppose to be there at 1. I'm so anxious, nervous, excited, and over all ready... My anxiety had been kicking my arse today, so been taking a half a xanax.. about every 5 hours. My stomach has butterflies... And to top it off I'm PMSimg.. So a nice chocolate bar would do me wonders.. lol Told my husband I'm done for the day,just gonna watch tv..And veg.. The stories that were posted before on this topic have helped, so I know I'm not the only one with this fear.. I will talk to you when I get home tomarrow.. Since surgery is so late, I plan on sleeping in..:-) ~~Debbi

I have my surgery tomorrow, I'm nervous and excited.

Well To marrow is my surgery date, Its at 3pm tentatively according to last conversation with pre-op nurse. But it may change later today when the surgery nurse calls me. I am a nervous wreck. My anxiety has been over acting big time. Also Im PMSing, so no being about to any carbs, being on my pre-op diet.. has been dificult . I have tested myself and Im in Ketosis, which means my liver is eating the fat in it. which is a good thing. Im excieted to start my journy, finally, Its been a fast adventure so far. my orignal consult was in July and testing in August..Started Pre-op diet on the 30th of Aug, and surgery the 6th. I have yet to tell my family other them my Husband, and he mentioned it to our daughter, (15yo) The 2 younger boys (10 and 5) will not really understand. My Mother is very negitive and will put me down, Saying it will not work,or something like "its about time, but why would you do that". Until I start to lose weight I will not tell her, my sister, who Can not keep a secret to save her life. So far I have lost 33 lbs since April. and most of that was just watching what I been eating. (on Pre-op I have lost 7 so far.. I will get final verdict tomarrow at hospital) Guess I need to update my signature again.. =P So if Im rambelling and my thoughts are all over the place, Im sure some of you have had this too.. =) --Debbi

I have been thinking of the what ifs.. and I know its just my anxiety but I feel I wanna write something, Maybe just stick it in my mail box.. just in case... and I like the idea of one, when it gets hard. -Debbi

I totally understand the sweet thing... I had a hard day today,, at a BBQ, everyone was eating potatoe salad, and brownies.. and I got to eat ribs with out sauce.. it didnt seem fair ..i was craving so bad,.,. But eventually dinner was over.. and the food was put away, and everything was better. I agree with what is said above, sugar free Jello is the best. its sweet and cold and makes u think you have had something bad. Also,. Put a squirt of Whip Cream on it. It has less then 1 carb. it makes it really special. I'm on an only Protein pre-op diet ( like Adkins). and when I asked the doctor, "how many carbs can I have?" he told me "none, cuz if he gave me a number I would go over it any way" ( dont know if I like his logic, but I am staying under 15 if a day if I can) -Debbi

I got to Hometown Fitness on rt 59, behind burger king. It's nice,the have child Care for those who need it,and it's close. I have been just doing the tread mill, but I think I will move on too the ellipticals soon ( after surgery, September 6th) Van horn woods have.a trail that goes from the park by frontage road to the soccer fields on other side of preserve. Also the Rookery on rt 30 and Renwick has some nice trails, that wind around back to airport road. Hope that helped. Before to long will be to cold to walk outside, and the gym will be it. ~~Debbi

I wish I could eat fruit.. Lol the sweet cravings are the worst. Going to my BFFs family BBQ today, I know it's going to be difficult.. I just hope she doesn't put sauce on all the ribs..

My Doctor, Vafa Shayani is out of Bolingbrook Adventist hospital. ( right off I55 and rt53) He is very nice.. May wanted give him a call.

Well I Am on day #3 of pre op diet. My doctor told me, just dont eat any carbs. No liquids diet or protein shakes.. Its kinda like an Adkins diet. My surgery is the 6th, and im so excited, its been a long way coming. Anyone else have their doctor no give them a liquid diet? -Debbi

Hello. As the title says I am beginning my lap band journey. I made and went to my consultation appointment last week. I am 41yo, married for 19yrs. Mother of 3, (15yo girl and a 10 & 5yo boys). And today I got a call today to start my pre-O P orders.. I have to get the typical blood work, Need an E K G , then have have a cardiologist clear me. Psychological evaluation, and a Upper G I ....(oh yay!!) Current pap and mamo ..(not sure why they need this). So I decided to post a hello instead of being a creeper. I am nervous and excited. January 1st I was at my heaviest weight of 350lbs.and decided to do something about it. Currently I am 333, and trying. I have scheduled most of my tests for Thursday and Friday, next week need to do some others. I was told, my insurance Co.covers cost up to 90% but since I met my out of pocket deductible,it's 100%… I'm hoping for no surprise $$. Hmmmm...think that's it... If I forgot something ask me.. -Deb

Hey everyone has been so kind and helpful to me. Today at 4pm I go to DR to start my pre op diet. And then a week from right now I will be banded. =) OhSoNique You will do fine. My physc. Eval went easy, I got to use my own therapist. and all the tests were painless, just had to be done, and then the worry you wont pass.. waiting for the insurance was hard. I didnt understand the 1st time they said my Insurance covers surgery, ment.. they covered it.. I wasnt approved for it yet. Then had to wait for all tests and then an extra Echo.. --Debbi

Im so sorry. That truly sucks. 1.8 lbs.. heck wearing tennis shoes vs flip flops would do that. I would hope they appeal again.. Speak to a real person..
