Was there a month where you just dropped quick
scarbedazzles replied to miangr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
im also in my first month.... but from what i understand, the first month is the most and the first six months is like 70-80% of what you'll lose altogether....the rest comes off slowly. -
pickle pops??? hmmmmm.... well some of my friends use pickle juice as a shot chaser for sour mash whiskey shots. yuk..... and "rammed" sounded perfectly appropriate to me....rofl

whats the deal with sugar free post op?
scarbedazzles replied to Heather Meyer's topic in Food and Nutrition
I think the thoughts and findings for having sugar post-op are relatively new. I read to use full sugar popsicles during the liquid phase and to not worry about sugar too much till you can consume some solid proteins. I will say I had "some" full sugar things like hot tea... I'm still 29 pounds down....4 weeks post op and I don't really put the low sugar thing into my equation. If I always eat my protein first, and drink all my water, there really isn't room for much else so a little sugar does not mess it up. IDK just my 2 cents.... -
I've been taking gummy multi-vites, gummy calcium with D3, and gummy B12, prilosec capsule daily. Never really had any hard and fast rules about the type to take just to not have pills this early post-op....I'm 4 weeks.

I didn't really get an "approved" vite list but I'm only four weeks post-op and doing gummy multivites, gummy calcium with D3, gummy B12, and a prilosec (Omeprezole) capsule daily. I've lost 29 lbs so far and haven't had a problem with the vites.

Back home from Tijuana
scarbedazzles replied to homersmomma's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I went to TJ...but with Dr Rodriguez.... Hospital Angeles. Wonderful treatment...2 nights there and home by plane. If I'd wanted I could have stayed at a hotel one more night part of the package. I just wanted to get home to my bed. My experience was amazing. Everyone was great, the staff mostly spoke english to a more or lesser degree. My incisions are almost gone visibly... he used surgical adhesive. All my tests were included. I did pay the pharmacy for my take home meds... $50... nothing more. It is so different for each of us who go to MX, still we don't know how it'll go till we get there. glad you are doing so well. -
For those of you who've already been sleeved in TJ...
scarbedazzles replied to Italiancurves's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I wouldn't have needed anything at all... not even a dressing gown. BUT I was at Hospital Angeles with Dr Rodriguez... It was an amazing experience. I stayed at the hospital almost three days. No recovery house or hotel.... just home sweet home.... My little pillow helped on the flight home. I'm doing amazingly well... my incisions are almost totally gone. I feel super and am eating beyond expectation....just very tiny amounts. Good luck in your journey....My sleeve was 8/21/13 -
I actually had a small panic attack the day I realized I'd NEVER EVER eat a whole MEAL again.....yikes.... now it's much better and I'm thankful for being sleeved. It means I will never be as overweight either.

scarbedazzles replied to LisaDM's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
you can do this....just suck it up and go for it.... it means the rest of your life will be completely different because you chose to do something for yourself!!! -
This is actually my biggest fear now....I have a lot of hair in the BACK..... but the front is thinner.....I don't wanna look bald!!!! BUT if it grows back....I'll deal. I hope your hair stops soon.... I've read everything from 6 weeks to 3 months of loss....then re-growth.....

Ate too much now SCARED
scarbedazzles replied to vsginkc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow....I'm glad this hasn't happened to me... closest I've come is eating waaaay too much protein (i'm still only able to hold like two and a half tbsp of meat) and actually throwing up....but just a little. I've learned to stop eating before I think I'm full.....just like with anything when in doubt.....DON'T...lol you'll be fine... like I tell my girls.... This too shall pass. -
Are you 5'8"-5'9" and post- surgery?
scarbedazzles replied to DeterminedGirl's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I agree with supbanana....goals are meant to be adjusted and changed as we learn what is going to be right for us. I've almost had the opposite experience from you....while browsing the forums, I've seen people who have succeeded beyong my wildest imagination!!! I was all set to settle on a larger goal because I figured that may be as far as i get. BUT seeing all these beautiful women and men who have gone to their original goal and beyond gives me hope I may see a weight that I've not even dreamed of yet.....exciting stuff huh? -
The end of 72 hours post surgery
scarbedazzles commented on Inspiredsmile's blog entry in Inspiredsmile's Blog
Good job... I was sleeved 8/21 and I can't even believe I'm on the other side. 28 lbs down.....things are looking up and I've not had a moments trouble. I was worried in the beginning.....because I'd never been under general anesthesia. It was fine.... took me a couple hours to assimilate to the real world again. I went to MX and flew home the second day....no problems at all. You'll be at three weeks soon and you won't believe the difference. Glad you're doing so well..........we are on our way. -

How did your friends and family react to surgery in Mexico?
scarbedazzles replied to Nina723's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I own a salon and have quite a larhe clientele. I told my clients because there would be no hiding the surgery. I think, by and large, they acted supportive but were anxious about MX......once I was home, they were fine with it because they could see my tiny little incisions and know there's no infection and I'm alive and well....lol....I was sleeved 8/21 with Dr Rodriguez.. my experience was amazing through beliteweight.com I highly recommend them. My family was behind me all the way because I involved them in the research. No argument they were worried but they'd have been no matter where I was. My 16 yo daughter went with me as my companion.....it was a great experience for her also. I stayed at the hosp 2 nights and flew home to oregon....nothing to it. They picked me up at the airport.... and droppped me back. I was never alone. Better facilities and better treatment than here in the states. -

I'm so sorry about the personal life stuff being bad. Just remember with all the weight loss theres bound to be some big changes within others and within yourself. All of this will actually put you where you were supposed to be sll along. Some things/people will fall away.....but those things may be toxic to you now. There will be new people and lifestyle changes to lead you to exciting adventures. Congratulations on the new you and keep it up! -
12 days post
scarbedazzles replied to DanielleSleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm now 2 1/2 weeks out and oatmeal did not sit well with me at all. I tried cream of wheat same deal.... but same day I made some instant butter grits...with a very soft scrambled egg on top and It was amazing! Best meal ever! I managed about half the egg and 1/4 the pack of grits. I think we are all individual and our own body knows what's best for us. Try it and see.....if it doesn't work, on to the next thing.... lol -
Please share your first two weeks post op losses!
scarbedazzles replied to Banse55's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Don't worry it'll come....I was also sleeved the 21st. I'm down 26 so far but I didn't weigh in pre surgery. That's my pre op diet starting weight. I find the better I get in my liquids and protein....(spread out the protein so you get it across the day) The more loss I have. I did stall earlier this week but I adjusted my intake to more protein and more water...voila! Losing again.... you're sleeve wont fail you... it just takes time and learning. -
August sleevers progress

Surgery date 8/21.... 26 lbs down so far! -
Your doctor should be a little more concerned I think. I'm just 2&1/2 weeks post op and I'm eating and drinking small quantities though it's getting easier and easier. Keep up with your fluids if you can....try making a smoothie. It helped me a lot.... I used a half a small banana and 5 frozen strawberries, an oikos 100 cal greek yogurt, one scoop protein powder, 1/2 tbs honey, add a little apple juice no sugar added for consistency blend like crazy. This saves my bacon every day in protein content AND needed calories!!!

where do you find these "shots"? I have no idea about them but they sound interesting... -
I love the "things" your sleeve has taught you.....rofl

I lost an average 2 year old.....sleeved 8/21.....25 lbs lost....
-
I was sleeved the day before you! Congrats on your new journey! I already made a very soft scrambled egg with cheese...it was wonderful, but don't be surprised you wont be able to eat much at all, I got like half down before my FULL signal went off. FULL is very uncomfortable huh? I'm pretty sure I'll never eat like others do and I'm glad for it....lol I just wish the next 6 months would hurry up and come and go.... I wanna see what I'm gonna look like!!!! ROFL
