    First fill

Be sure to drink a little water BEFORE you leave the docs office, to make sure you can swallow ok....other than that it's a breeze....My doc actually does a re-orientation to cover some of the important points you may have missed, or forgot... once you start with the fills, the REAL process of behavior modification begins , replacing bad habits with good...Best of Luck!

Hi Sara, Check with your docs office to see if there are any support groups in your area....if not, ours meets at 6:00 PM every Tuesday and is open to anyone that has had lap band surgery. We meet at Fort Worth Lap Band - 2501 Parkview Ave. Fort Worth, TX. Good Luck!

    Loos Skin and exercise

OK, so I am one month post op, had my first fill yesterday, am feeling great...but I am worried about having all this sagging skin around my mid section after I loose weight (like a lot of guys, most of my excess weight is my belly). I know once you have the sagging skin, it is pretty much going to be there (barring cosmetic procedures), but can exercise help prevent or reduce the amount of sagging skin? If so what exercise(s) are most helpful.

Not what I WANTED to hear (LOL), but thanks for the response....I am actually going to work out tonight for the first time in a LONG, LONG Time. I guess sagging skin beats a bulging belly and carrying all this weight around! At least the sagging skin won't lead to an early death!

    Im starting to regret......

Hi Chloe, First of all I hope no one is ever rude to you here What I did was before my surgery (you can still do this post surgery) was list the pros and cons regarding the surgery and weight loss. For me it came down to being healthier and living longer...I knew if I didn't do something, I was on my way to a heart attack, stroke, or some other medical trauma. Also, I listed all the activities I wanted to do, but could not because of my weight. (Whenever I get discouraged, I get this list out). At one, point, I also thought "I can do this on my own", but then had to ask myself "Why haven't I?" I have two grandchildren and I want to be around to see them grow up and graduate and get married and start their own families. The bottom line is ....each of us have our own personal reasons for having the surgery and each of us will have a different journey along the way...what works and motivates me, may not do the same for you...that doesn't mean either if us is "right" or "wrong", just different... and that's a beautiful; thing!
  6. Well....I don't know if I would say this is the Biggest benefit of the surgery, but certainly a nice one. The money we save when dinging out. My wife had gastric bypass in 2002, so for the last 11 years when we ate out I would finish my plate and whatever she had left. A couple of weeks ago, we went out to eat for the first time since my lap band procedure. We ordered one entree to share and still brought food home, and had lunch for both of us the next day and still had a little left.
