    double post oops

Oh my computer double posted a topic that I made lol. And actually I haven't lost any weight, my ticket looks like I did, but actually my current weight is the higher weight. I've gained +30 since surgery
  2. I have had significant left side and shoulder pain since I got the Lap-Band placed, August 6, 2013. I know that it is due to the phrenic-vagus nerve being stimulated. This nerve has to do with breathing and eating as well as your eyes and sinuses. I had very significant pain there directly post-op, but I passed it off as gas pains. Since recovery, I have had pain there at almost all times. I have not been able to sleep on my left side for 11 months, making my right hip have joint problems (that's a whole other issue though). I am wanting to know if anyone has had experience with this? My surgeon is recommending a complete unfill, so I will have an inactive band, causing me nerve damage (I have 5cc in my 10cc band, no restriction). I understand that this pain can be common to have sporadically, but is usually not constant as it is with me. I have been in pain that is significant enough to keep me from going to work and school. Has anyone else had an experience with a complication like this? Or does anyone know of the complications that my band rubbing against a nerve could have long term? If so, what was done to treat this issue? I am only 18, so I was planning to have this band in for the long haul, not to have serious complications haha. Thanks!

    Bandster Hell

I'm in bandster hell too!! Just had my 2nd fill last Friday, finally feeling restriction, but it seems to be wearing off now! I haven't lost any weight yet and I got surgery 3.5 months ago. It's the restricted diet that's hard for me and I just can't find the motivation to work out often either. We just gotta keep truckin though because it will pay off in the end!!

  7. Hi guys! I am set to have my banding done on July 30th at the Obesity Control Center in Mexico. I have a question about the kinds of bands they use there. If any on you have been banded there (Mexico in general) within the last 3 years or so, what kind of band did you have placed and what band options were available to you? I am really worried about having the older 4cc lap band used on me, I've heard some not very good things about the 4cc band. Also, if you have had the 4cc band what has been your experience with it?? All your help and info is greatly appreciated (: ~Josette
  8. Great, thanks for the info guys, it gives me some good insight and a lot to think about!(:
  9. I am not 18 yet so I cant find a place here that will do the surgery for me without it being around $20,000 and my insurance doesn't cover bariatric surgery even if I could get it done here
  10. Hellooooo, I am Josette. I am 17 years old and I live in Oregon. I am currently about a week and a half out from my gastric banding! I am having the surgery at Obesity Control Center by Dr. Ortiz on July 30th 2013. My surgery will be a revision from the gastric plication, in which I had only minor success with, due to severe illness. I am looking forward to being a bandster! I hope that this forum can be a great tool for me in staying on track with my weight loss and dieting. I love reading about all of your guys' experiences, triumphs and tribulations. (: Well here are the numbers- Highest weight: 308 Current weight: 275 Goal Weight: 170 *The photo attatched is of me currently (pre-op) (:

    Surgery set for July 30th!!

Hi, thanks for responding! Where did you see that he uses the 4CC band at? I will for sure be asking them about this on Monday because I would hate for that to be the case. Thanks for bringing that to my attention!

    Surgery set for July 30th!!

No it's fine lol. When I first got the plication it made me very very sick. I threw up all the time and couldn't even get down a glass of Water. That in turn made me lose 30 pounds in the first 3 weeks after surgery. I know that sounds awesome, but the loss was at the expense of my health and well being. Initially they told me it would be a month and a half before I could ride my horse/exercise, but the surgery left me so weak that I couldn't ride him without getting dizzy and nauseous for about five months. The same was true about going to the gym. After the five months it seemed like I had no restriction at all. It was like one day I just woke up and felt better, butwas able to eat just as much as I could before, maybe only slightly less. With that being said, I dieted and went to the gym with no results because of having no restriction what so ever. I feel like possibly I had so much swelling that it stretched out the plication. OCC offered to go in and tighten the plication however but I felt so awful with it the first time that I couldn't even bear the thought of going through that again, ever! Currently I am having the plication reversed and then having a band placed over my normal stomach. Thanks for your question though, I'm glad to share my story. And thank you! I just love how supportive this community is! (:
  14. I'm set for banding on July 30th (: good luck with your surgery!
