JULY 2013 BAND BUDDIES
miss679 replied to sprinkle715's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on the 26th of July as well. I've lost about 11 pounds. Asked my nutritionist if I should be following a calorie count but she said no. Hope you are well! Looking forward to my first fill on 8/24! -
Hi All - Does anyone have any recommendations for shampoo/hair care products for thinning hair? I've had this issue prior to surgery due to my PCOS but I'm thinking I don't want it to get worse. Any feedback is much appreciated. Thanks!!

Thank you so much for the feedback! This really helps and I have just placed an order for the Biotin pills and a Nioxin Starter Kit from amazon.

Which ones are pills, if any? Thanks to everyone who replied!

That's a pill - the 5000 units? Thanks so much!

Insurance approved! Couple of questions

Yes, definitely consult your doctor. I was able to continue most of my pills the day after surgery - Prozac and birth control were ok for me to take. -
Going back to work...
miss679 replied to littlebare's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone is different. I had my band placed on a Friday and I went back to work (desk job) on the following Tuesday. I also had no pain or nausea and my boyfriend insisted on driving me to and from the office because he was worried that with the liquid diet I was less alert. You might want to wait and see how you're feeling. Listen to your body and your doctor of course. Best of luck! -
I hope you find relief and answers very soon. Best wishes and prayers sent your way.

I'm over a week post op and I've only had liquid movements which I was told was normal.

Hi everyone! Just curious - have any of you been given a guideline in terms of calories per day post-op? For instance, I know in my first week post-op I wasn't consuming many calories because of the liquid diet. Now I'm onto week 2/stage 2 and I was instructed to have a minimum of 60 grams of Protein per day but nothing regarding calories. I'm wondering if the healing is the focal point and not the calories so much? If anyone has a recommend calorie count I should be aiming for each day please let me know. Thanks!!

JULY 2013 BAND BUDDIES
miss679 replied to sprinkle715's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the surgical glue too. Did really well with that a no issues with incisions. I was banded on 7/26. -
Can anyone tell me what this actually might mean? I understand non-cream and puréed but does that mean that any non-cream Soup can be puréed and enjoyed? This is part of my stage 2 (week 2) post op diet. I'm pretty sure the staff at my surgeon's office wants to kill me with all of my questions!! Bringing it to the forum while I wait for a callback. Thanks!

Spoke to the nutritionist. No cream soups. Nothing with meat, rice or pasta or potatoes. So basically tomato I can eat as is and I can purée vegetable soup. Thanks everyone.

Hi all - Before I call my nutritionist yet again I thought I'd check in here for some feedback. This Friday I move to stage 2 of my post-op diet. This includes skim milk, Protein shakes, sugar-free pudding, no-sugar added yogurt, vegetable juice, mashed cottage cheese. My question is this: if I get a skim DECAF latte is that ok? I know decaf coffee is ok even now on my clear liquid diet but I wasn't positive on the latte front. Thanks a bunch!

Welcome! Good luck to you! This is a great site for support!

Question on Stage 2 Post-Op Diet
miss679 replied to miss679's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, calorie-wise it's about 120. It's non-fat milk (about 3/4 cup) and sugar-free vanilla syrup (about 20 calories) and the decaf espresso shots. Those are the ones I wasn't sure on since its coffee but its stronger. Thanks! -

Forgot one part - sugar-free vanilla-flavored syrup in my latte? Am I pushing it? -

Thank you for sharing this and congrats on your success! As a newbie myself I am inspired to read your journey so far and I agree that the value of the people on this forum is tremendous. Best wishes to you with your continued success! -
Hi all - sorry for the graphic nature of this post. I had what seemed like diarrhea today. No pain or discomfort - just liquid. I called the doctor and he said since I am 4 days post op and on a liquid diet then bowel movements can be liquid and not to worry. Just wondering if anyone has experienced this?
