You initially have some swelling after a fill. As swelling goes down the band will be looser.

What helps me is the 5:2 diet. I plateaued for 2 months, have lost 3 lbs since starting this 2 weeks ago

fellow bariatric surgery friends and their opinions
SandyM replied to itsmekarenlee's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have a few WLS friends and I find that even if I don't need their information or support today, doesn't mean I'll never need it. As for advice, sometimes some of it still comes in handy too. If I don't need it, I just nod my head and go on. -
Finally.......it's happened to me!

Yep, feels great. I trouble passing mine cua he started eating healthy and exercising. He went from 205 to 162. I had to work hard to pass him. -
How do you know if fill was done right?
SandyM replied to lorena verdugo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I take it that your fills are not under fluoro, so the answer has to be when he/she puts the needle in, they remove at least some of the fluid from the port toe verify they are in the right place and then reinject it with the rest of the Fluid that's in the syringe. -
Absolutely not. I don't enjoy the loose skin, but I love tying my shoes without being out of breath. Riding 12 miles on a bicycle, wearing normal clothes and the list goes on. So I won't wear a bikini, I'm lovin this.

I had the same question last month. What made me decide to go with it was I started rummaging through the house looking for food. Even after I had earen

I hope you beat the food demon. Many don't and thats because it's not usually about the food but whatever we are trying to feed that is our problem. Though I don't consider it a diet, especially since I've surpassed goal, I'll continue to track, at least til my body accepts this new me. My Demon is still on my shoulders and will cause me problems if I let down my gaurd. My Iband helped me lose, but a lot if it's still up to me.

Hang in there. I had the band and plicationn and was pretty miserable. Days 2 and 3 were the hardest for me and it gradually started improving By day 6, I felt like I was seeing normal again.

Much less shopping. I bought cookies for granddaughter yesterday and ate 4 of them, 220 calories each. Hubby and I have decided, no more cookies in the house.

Unsuccess story: I have been so bad this summer...
SandyM replied to Wendydarling19's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My surgeon had a saying "if you find out your car has a flat tire you don't poke holes in the other 3." Simply meaning one bad spell doesn't have to make the rest of your journey fail you. Start now and do it right. -
I'm actually using 5:2 for maintenance. It's working for me.

My dock likes a month. We tend to want everything fast, but be weary of trying to rush this process. Take it slow and easy, it'll last longer.

I agree with all of the above. My last fill didn't affect me til day 6. Plus it is just your first. Odds are pretty good you'll need more. I've had 4 or 5. Not sure how much and it really doesn't matter. Just keep working in your eating habits in the meantime

Also, remember your green zone can change from time to time. We see folks all the time that rock on for a year or more and have to have small fills and even a few that need small unfills. Gage this on yourself only, no one else. As said we all have different things to consider. Try to stop looking for the elusive green zone, it will find you. Learn to eat right, slowly and chew well. Just cuz you can still eat it doesn't mean you should. Also, unless you're pretty tight, you may actually be able to eat any food item. That's not necessarily a bad thing. I enjoy that I can still eat bread, rice, eggs and I can eat Breakfast where many can't. I like my band on the looser side, some others like theirs on the tighter side. Just sayin....

I agree with the 5:2 diet. I do a Protein shake diet 2 non consecutive days a week when I'm trying to jump start. Also it's important to track cuz those BLT's (bites, licks, and tastes) will add up and amount to a lot more than you think they will. Probably also wouldn't hurt to shake up your exercise routine a little. Change what you do and how often you do it. Try setting a small goal, can be a size, an exercise goal or a weight and work towards it. Give yourself a reasonable timeframe to reach it.
