  1. Believe it or not, people are so busy stuffing their faces, they probably wont notice what you eat. If they do comment, just say you picked alot while you were cooking (whatever it was you cooked) and will eat more later. As for the coworkers, who ever said about female nosey coworkers is so right. I get lots of compliments at work. I've lost 40 lbs and have 50 more to go. One lady said the other day "You don't need to lose anymore, you're already looking too thin." I doubt at 5'2 and 184 lbs I look "too thin". I think people will also try to sabatoge you and its not always with the best intentions. I've told my husband, 2 grown children, 2 best friends and one other that is planning on having the surgery. As for if they ask how Im losing, I tell them the truth. I'm working out at minimum 4 days per week (and I mean a hard workout). Im counting carbs and Proteins. The band isn't going to make you lose weight, its a tool. You still have to do the work.
  2. I buy my uniforms 1 size down and try that size on each week to see if it fits. Thats my motivation. But uniforms are different cuz they dont have as many sizes. I was so excited when I bought my last bunch and was able to fit in them nicely and then I found 3 more brand new sets in that size from yester-year in the storage room.

    Im banded!!

Sounds like it wasnt that bad an experience for you. Just keep walking off the gas and the gas x strips work nicely too.

    Arms, stomach, and legs

The eliptical machines work a little bit of all of it. I spend most of my time on the treadmill but make myself do 5 minutes of eliptical. I hope to work up to the full 30 minutes. But it is hard.

    1st fill

Banded May 10th and kept going and kept going and doc wouldnt give me a fill. I made appt with his wife and partner and went to see her yesterday and she never hesitated. Asked me a few questions about my eating and exercise habits and gave me a 2cc fill. This is my first and I hope to see at least some results but know it might not be my last. I also got to ask her some questions that he just seemed to evade and she gave very sensible answers. I hear sometimes it takes 3 or 4 days to feel the restriction after the fill, so I'm waiting. I was on liquids yesterday and mushies today.

    1st fill

No, my doc is in texarkana tx. I have had a pretty good weight loss but not as much due to the band as my diligent efforts. I worry about regain if I let my guard down....like so many times before.

    What are protein shakes

my doctor actually still encourages the protein shakes and it makes it easier for me when I'm on the go and dont want to grab junk or just need something to hold me over til dinner or something.
  11. So, your ticker didnt change back, so I'm guessing the weight was actually correct.

    Broccoli

I havent tried it, but I was told it was one of the foods I might have to give up. But I'll probably see later, cuz so far, I've found very few things I couldnt tolerate.
  13. Good luck and happy trails
  14. My surgeon does both and recommends them together. I did have a choice and I opted for both. I've been banded since May 10th and have lost 38 lbs and have had no fills. So, I'm guessing my weight loss is from the plication diet and exercise. I still have the band as a backup is the way I look at it. It is still laproscopic plus I had hiatel hernia repair and no longer take prilosec. I do experience less restriction feeling that I hear talked about here, but as long as the weight comes off, I'm good, though weight loss is slower than I'd like.
  15. I had the same type results on my preop diet. Truth is, the preop diet isnt healthy real long term. For a few weeks its fine. Its a crash diet of sorts and you would probably lose interest in it and return back to your old habits. Thats just my opinion of course. I almost postponed my surgery but am glad I didn't. Its still your choice and I'm sure you'll make the right decision for you.

    Friends and sabatoge

LOL, I have a friend like this and she is my best encouragement. A little competition is good for you.
  17. Totally agree. How fast you lose your weight is only partically up to the band and the rest up to you. So, forgive yourself and move on.
  18. The preop diet is help shrink the liver to prevent complications. Some docs dont require it at all. You should be ok, but I'd get back on the preop diet and stick to it. Don't make any excuses, be prepared and keep your vision in front of you. At least, thats the way I did it. You still have 10 days, I only had 12 preop diet to begin with. But just remember, you'll run into the same type obstacles post op and you need to have a plan.
  19. I know my surgeon offered a payment plan to do the lap band (had I not had insurance), maybe talk to your surgeon and see if they don't offer something.

    Had surgery!

The first 3 days were the hardest for me. Then I gradually started feeling normal, except for the post op diet, ugh!!!

    Lap band with plication?

This would require an additional surgery. From the looks of your weight loss, you are doing wonderful. Is there a reason you would want to add an addional WLS?
  22. As said, walk walk walk. It'll pass.

    Surgery is Monday

I had mine May 10th and have lost 38 lbs. I only told a select few and probably wont tell many more. You'll do great, I find that I do better when I visit this site a few times a day, it just gives me a little boost. Just remember your first month you may not have much of a weight loss even though you'll be taking in very little calories. This is your healing time and use it for that. No regrets here. Its also helpful to make a ticker like you see at the bottom of alot of these posts. That way, you watch your results. I look at other peoples tickers, it encourages me.
  24. Banded May 10th and I'm still kicking. Down 38 lbs. I had the plication with my banding and so far my hunger is controlled. I had two major problems that caused my weight gain over the years.....portion size and munching/grazing. Soft drinks didnt help either. I've given up soft drinks totally and portion size is being mostly controlled by band, so all I really have to focus on is not munching and grazing. I dont think its going to be a short journey, but I do feel it will be effective and I'll get there. Did I mention......no fills as of yet? But I do see my surgeon Monday.

    how do I break a stall !!!!

13 lbs in a month is sufficient weight. I know you just want it to be gone, but thats not good for you. Spend some time taking care of yourself, new food habits exercise etc and take your eyes off of the scales. Count your calories as stated. That is very important. They can build up before you realize it. The weight will take care of itself. I'm learning this slowly. My doc says he only wants me to lose 3 to 5 lbs a month and I really want it to go faster. But, I also want it to be gone and to be healthy.
