This far out, I'm surprised that you're still having gas pains. Just curious, have you had your gallbladder checked? Gallbladder Will cause a referred pain in the shoulder.
-
To me it's a little too much too fast.
-
I think if it's that hard and that painful I would have to have them look at it. It may be a hematoma or infection process.

I know. My 10 yo grandson asked why not put my big clothes away til I grow into them. In his mind that's the where are you it's supposed to happen

Been A Little While Since I Have Been Around...
SandyM replied to FLORIDAYS's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
You do look great. I love that this board has so many success stories. It gives me motivation. -
Hey, whatever works. I love my band so far. I know I still have to follow rules but I have help now. It took this to show me my obesity was never about physical hunger.

Not to mention all of the holiday snacks people prepare that you have to run dodge and jump

Most of my stuck episodes have been on chicken. Now I put my chicken in a chopper to make chicken salad and it works for me. I generally avoid the breast meat cuz it's too dry

It'll pass before you know ie

Yeah but now some folks are a little peaved at my post. I didn't name any names but you would have thought I had. I just was pointing out that some folks forget this is a support forum. I'm learning as I go, but I come here cuz it's a place where lap banders gather. I could (an do) ask questions of my surgeons. But I see them monthly only. I have full confidence in the answers I get from them and they are not condescending. I also know how to research the web and I do that too. Could I do it without this site? Of course. But I enjoy talking to folks who have and are experiencing what I have. I don't need a lecture, a teacher or a mentor for that matter. But I do have those that inspire me. They are nonjudgmental and friendly and if ineed questions answered I feel confidence in their answers.

I have the same problems with carbs but others don't. I also try zig zagging my calories. Example, 1400 800 1300 1000.... Etc. I still try to average out 1200 a day over a week. Helps me.

Welcome to the new board and congrats on reaching goal. I will be there someday????. This board is harder to navigate than the other. Hoping it will get easier as we use it.

How Do You Go From Flabby To Fab After Weight Loss?
SandyM replied to a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
It does take a while for body to recover. A lot depends on how much how long and how old. There are those with more experience than me on this -
Thank you girl. I am so glad you finally got your surgery. No one was more prepared. Now the work begins, but so does the reward. I love reading your posts too. You are always so upbeat. I'm rooting for you every day.

Today is it" My 6 month Baniversary. Six months ago, I anxiously and somewhat reluctantly went into to surgery for lapband. I knew my surgeons well as I have worked with them both in the hospital setting and had extreme confidence in them. So that wasnt even an issue. But, I had read the reviews of lapband and had started having my doubts about it (I hadnt found this site as of yet). Anyway, my weight problem was becomng something I had to deal with. My abdomen was large and I was having trouble tieing my shoes, I was getting out of breath easily and I was ashamed of my own shadow. I had just bought my 1st pair of size 22 jeans. Ugh. Also, my mother died 20 years ago at my current age with heart dz and diabetes so this was also a concern to me. So, I decided I was going to do this. I was done being obese. I had the surgery and though I've had several minor surgeries under anesthesia in the past 5 years, pinned wrist, arthroscopies of both knees, that kind of thing, I will admit this one turned out to be more of a doozie for me. My surgery was banding wit plicatin and hiatel hernia repair. I blame most of my bad experience on the anesthesist who I believe over sedated me. I had alot of trouble keeping my oxygen saturation up post op. Prior to surgey, I tried to tell him that I am veru hyersensitive to drugs, but guess he thought he knew it all and used my weight to base my drugs on. Anyway, as said, coming out of surgery, I spent the first hour with nurses yelling at me to wake up and breathe. I had the surgery in a hospital I worked at for 14 years and I have to say, I wasnt really impressed with the treatment both preop or postop. I never told them I was a nurse, so I was able to sit back and watch how they treat pts and I gotta say, I was sorta disappointed. This was the only surgery I've had there and I've never experienced this with any other surgery. By the way. my daughter in law who is an OR nurse told me that the gas we experience postop is from all of the air they inflate our abdomens with (I knew this already) but she also said they can suction that air back out and more or less eliminate this problem. Anyway, hubby promised to be supportive and before surgery, I had to make him eat because he felt guilty eating in front of me while all I could have was Protein shakes. He was 30 lbs over weight himself and I certainly didn't want him to become a closet eater and gain more weight. So, we had alot of heart to hearts about what his role would be to both continue living normally and cohabitating with me who would not be so normal for a little while. 6 months later, He has lost his 30 lbs (big smile) and I have lost 50. I still have some to go. My goal s to lose 38 more and this is just based on bmi. I may change this goal as time goes on. After all, it's not all about the scales. But I'm extremely pleased with my decision. I go to the gym, I'm in a size 14 and I love the direction I'm heading. I do have my days when I don't do as well as I'd like and I've learned to forgive and get back up. The weight is now coming off very slowly but its coming off. I go to my md next week and I don't know if I will do a fill or not. Just depends on my weight when I see her and how we both feel about it. This boad has helped alot and short of those who want to tell people to circumvent their surgeons advice, I have gotten some really good advice on here. I want to give a shout out to CG, MS73 an Sharpie. There are others and that is just to name a few. As for the ones that give bad advice, I'm going to learn to use the block feature. Thanks guys and gals, you're the best.

Is The Band Really Failing You, Or Are You Failing The Band?
SandyM replied to DELETE THIS ACCOUNT!'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Me too -
Is he set in that brand or flexible. My surgeon didn't care as long as my protein meets certain requirements
-
Will your surgeon let you try different shakes. Mine let me have what ever shakes I wanted as long as they met certain guidelines. As others have said, just suck it up and do it. It'll be worth it in the long run. After surgery the diet isnt so hot either but it keeps getting better.

You look great.

Banded 11/4- Major Complications :(
SandyM replied to skinnysomeday1211's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, I'm scratching my head about the amount of fluid they removed. How did they get that much fluid in the smaller band. I'm guessing there are more than one brand of bands. Mine is the AP band and my surgeon says it comes in a Standard and Large and standard takes 10 ml. Not sure what the large takes. But I'd be asking my surgeon for some more information. You might need it in the future anyways and its good to know. Sorry you went through this and hope everything goes well from here. -

LOL, no you are certainly not one I'm talking about. I love your posts and you have a whole lot of good input. I'm not sure when we stop being newbys. I think I read somewhere someone wrote 5 years.
