  1. If you're stuck for that long you must be trying to get pretty big bites down. Also after an episode of stuck, most go on liquids for awhile and rest things
  2. 7 months out and 55 lbs down. I'm getting there ok and want to say thanks to all you guys and gals who keep supporting and encouraging. I really appreciate it. I'll get there yet.

After Almost 2 Years, I'm Starting Over

If you've lost 3 pant sizes that is weight. The scales will eventually catch up. I can eat almost anything just have to chew and eat slow. Try to increase your proteins if you're getting hungry before lunch. This is what my surgeon told me. And most of all relax. It will happen if you keep it up. We all stall. I stall at least every other month then it takes off again. And, you probably are gaining muscle which accounts for smaller size without pound lost.
  4. Tunneling is eroding or burrowing when the wound doesn't heel inside. Usually caused by infectious process. Bacteria inside the wound will start to eat out further in one direction or another or all directions. A lot of times you'll have tale tale signs like drainage, festering or the wound will look angry. Really the wound needs to open so it can be treated from the inside. I had a pt who tunneled between all 4 of her incisions. Finally surgeon had to go in and open her to get her healed. Usually will require antibiotics. Left unattended can cause sepsis and even death.

    Weight Loss

As stated, you're are doing great. Stop looking at the scales, exercise and keep a good food diary. You'll get there. My surgeon wouldn't give me a fill the first few months because I was losing adequately.
  8. I had that exact same thing on day 4. I got to where I couldn't even drink and my urine was turning a dark color. It came on pretty fast and I was out of town. By the time I got hold of my doctor it was late in the afternoon and I progressed from fine in the am to sick in the pm. She took out all of my Fluid and I had immediate relief. She told me I was just really swollen. Everything has been great since and I have 5 cc in my band now.

Help! I Was Banded 4 Days Ago!

Try a heating pad. I didn't have that much problem, but I heard it helps a lot. Good luck and this will pass soon.

    Delayed Restriction After A Fill

I have no hunger in the morning, very controlled in the evening and the evenings are hard for me. I've discovered most of it is head hunger. Also most of my stuck episodes have been in the evening making me know that I need to be aware of everything I put in my mouth and my eating habits.

Maybe try doing the measuring cup but put it on the plate from the cup. That where are you you learn what your servings look like on a plate.

What Does Lap Band Mean To Your Partner?

Lol I find myself watching hubby eat. He eats like I use to. He has been very supportive, even went on my diet with me. He's lost 32 lbs. He now pretty close to his ideal weight first time in forever. I'm encouraging him go for 5 more lbs though cuz I need him to stick with me a little longer.

    Normal Plate Size?

My surgeon gave me a small plate and it's supposed to be half protein quarter starch and quarter vege. Starch amt the size of boiled egg. Eat protein 1st then vege then starch. If I get hungry before 4 hours, add more protein with next meal. If I'm eating that amt with each meal and not losing adequately he will give me a fill.

    Green Zone

I have 5cc in my band as well, I think I'm getting closer and even if I have a fill it will be a small one. I've only received fills at half of my doctors appts. I don't want to risk an overfill, so I'll gage it by how I'm doing. I go back on Monday week. The fullness you feel initially is probably the stomach swelling after the fill. After it settles down, you should know if you need a fill. I have to harness the head hunger. If I do that, I think I will be ok.

    Wls....a Bad Name!

I've started telling a few more as I start getting closer my goal. I'm not embarrassed by the fact that I had to have surgery to help with my weight loss, but I am a little frustrated by the fact that I don't have full control, even now. But I know people who take aides to help them stop smoking and doing drugs and I figure, hey what ever gets the job done. Eventually as B52 said, they forget that you were obese and see you as you are now. I occasionally have people ask me about the surgery and I know their curiosity is genuine sometimes they even need some answers. I only knew 2 people who had had it before I got mine and they were very valuable and inspiring to me. If I can help someone not have to face the rest of their lives feeling like I did, I'll be glad to help. As for those who judge, who cares about them?

    Been Plateaued Forever...

Just goes to show the scales aren't always the best judge of things.
  20. 3 fills, 5 cc total.

    When To Get First Fill?

I was scheduled for a fill at 3 weeks, but didn't get one cuz I was losing adequately. So, really its hard to tell. I'd call the clinic that is handling your banding and ask them guidance for scheduling purposes. You will afterall probably have to have an appt.

    Dumping After Erosion And Removal

I asked my surgeon what causes band erosion and he says there are lots of theorys but they haven't been proven and as far as hes concerned, its just something that happens at times. Hope you recover soon. Stay hydrated.
  23. If you used tools to rebuild an engine, you certainly would appreciate the fact that you had the tools to help, but you wouldn't give them the credit for doing the job. Good job and keep it up.

Unfortunately you are absolutely right about how obese people are treated. I too have noticed a change in the way I'm treated. So much that I have become ashamed to ride my beautiful motorcycle. I'm so looking forward to nice weather now.
