No more DIET New Year's RESOLUTIONS for me!
SandyM replied to HealthyNewMe's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Set yourself some small goals and work towards them. You'll be surprised at the turns your body tone will take. The weight loss is great, but the toning is icing on the cake. -
Just want to say hi and meet other lap banders

What to expect when you're expecting?
SandyM replied to dink007's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Stagnant waters, tons of germs. Most likely your surgeon will want complete wound healing before ok'ing this. Believe me, the last thing you want is an incision infection. -
That's the band diet too. Sounds like the same rules apply.

My doc says 3-4 hours. I can go 4 to 5. -
I've done the same thing except I've set 3 or 4 smaller goals which lead to the big goal. Landmarks of sorts. I have a New Years goal, a March birthday goal, a May bandiversary goal and then a final goal. I will try my hardest to reach these goals but won't be devastation if I miss it by a little.

I do understand we need more veterans posting instead of lurking, but posting, advising and encouraging. as I stated, to those still struggling, it could appear as critism of how they are managing their weight loss. To them it is still a struggle and a diet as they are learning what to eat, how to get their protein and avoids stalls and manage their hunger. To say just let the band do all the work is fine but one can easily sabatoge their own weight loss if they throw it all to the wind and don't eat healthy. While some banders manage their eating differently due to the band being selective about what they can and cannot eat, I'm in the green and haven't found anything my band rejects if I chew properly and eat slowly. Some on here say they can't eat breakfast, I have no problem with this either. Just pointing out that this journey isn't the same for all of us.

Why the negativity around Gastric Plication?
SandyM replied to huberm's topic in Gastric Plication Surgery Forum
I had band with plication. I lost weight pretty good even before getting my band adjusted. I asked my surgeon about the issues and complications and he said the necrosis wouldn't be increased with the stomach that if I was susceptible to it, I'd probably have it without the surgery. I believe for me its been very helpful. -
Wow, I've never heard of this. What is your surgeon saying? Also, just for interest sake, how has your weight management been after all of these years?
-
Guess every surgery is individual with every individual. If I were you I'd probably go to the sleeve forum and ask questions there because there are those over there who hae had band to sleeve revisions.

Help Please! Haven't been able to eat or drink

If you've had a stuck episode, could be swelling. Are you still doing it? -
Merry christmas
-
Ok, but remember you still have a lot of swelling of the stomach and for now that is providing some of your restriction. I'm telling you this so you won't be surprised if some if the restriction goes away as the swelling does.

Guess ill get flamed for this, but don't really care. B52 this is supposed to be a support forum and right now you're being pretty unsupportive and sounding very critical and judgmental to those who aren't where you are. have recently hit green and thanks to my plication have never had to experience bandster hell per say. But lots of folks are not in the green and lots of them are still in bandster hell and are looking for encouragement, not to be told they are naive or scowled upon. I'm not getting the reason for your posts. I don't believe you are looking down you nose on folks, but it could be perceived by some that way.

on liquid pre op... Im so hungry
SandyM replied to LadyJ314's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can you remove yourself from the situation. Sip on something to take your mind off of it. Drink some Protein so at least you can tell yourself that its just in your head. -
If your are going back and forth like this, this could be the problem. You also may be trying to eat foods that your band has decided you shouldn't. I personally haven't found any of those, but lots of folks have. Good luck with figuring out the problem, but I'd start with slowing down and chewing well.

Wow that's about what I'm doing now and I'm 7.5 months post op.

Oh, bless your heart. Keep your eye on the prize. Ask youself which is more important, food or being thin. -
I absolutely agree that the plication helped me avoid bandster hell.
