I do hope there will come a day I don't miss the bad things but like CG I'm replacing them with things that are good for me and that helps. I had quite a smoking habit and quit 20 years ago. I missed it for a long time then I quit missing it. Don't know if I will ever quit missing peanut butter, but I have no stopping point for it, so I've quit buying it .

Ps don't necessarily believe how many calories the machines tell you you've used. I've found tat to be totally innacurate

I would also revisit the thyroid levels. If you've taken synthroid or levothyroxine for any length of time your thyroid would atrophy and become pretty useless. Not sure it would recover to allow you to not need it medication. I know I will be on it for the rest of my life.

It just keeps getting better doesn't it?

Doc won't tell me how much is in my band.
SandyM replied to Angi281's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
While I agree you have the right to know cuz it is your info, I also agree it's irrelevant. We all get to green at different levels and there are lots of varying factors there. If you end up in the ER and have to have se taken out, it won't matter if you tell them how much you have in, they will take out as much as they want and maybe even all of it. -
Peanut butter for me is a nono for a different reason. I can't stop.

I didn't get a fill my 1st 2 visits but that was due to my progress. You will discuss this with your surgeon and it will probably be on a visit by visit basis.

Was addicted, but now don't miss it

Coach, this isn't really a great comparison, but it will do. Compare it to adjusting your belt. If you take it in one hole at a time it is eventually where you want it. If you get it too tight, you may be able to move but not freely and eventually if you kept tightening it it would reach a point of impossibility. The band needs to be a comfort zone fit for you and will not be the same for everyone. As for the topping of a slice if pizza, that's not that much food really. Before I had restriction I could eat 2 slices of pizza thin slice.

Coach, til you get restriction, your feeling of full won't be much different than before surgery though you will be taking in much less. Try to focus more on eating good lean proteins as they stay in the actual stomach longer. If you take in a lot of carbs, they pass through faster and give you that bloated "thanksgiving" full feeling. After a few fills , it will be much harder to experience that type of full feeling though still possible with a lot of simple carbs. That old feeling is caused by the gaseous broken down components of the carbs. The new feeling of full will likely be a sensation somewhere in the chest/anatomical stomach area. You learn to recognize it and everyone's is different. My "full feelin" feels like a large bubble, course I've had plication and that could be a contributor. I stop when I think I feel that bubble coming on. This is all just my personal experience. But in the beginning I separated my carbs from my proteins in my meals so I would get the full sensation sooner.

I've Got Questions, You've Got Answers
SandyM replied to HotButterFly's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The sliming is the constant production of saliva which is being produced to help the food go down. Pbing (productive burping) is when the food comes back up because either it can't pass through or it is assisted. I slime occasionally, but have only pb'd a few times. Mine usually passes through. My band is snug enough But I can eat just about anything but slower. The band isn't supposed to limit what you eat or even how much, the size of your stomach will limit how much; hence the advantage of the plication. The band is supposed to slow you down, limiting how fast you eat, allowing the brain to realize the full sensation faster. If you are a "grazer" or eat a lot of sliders, it doesn't work well. -
I think my brain is finally catching up with my habits. I see a coke box at walmart a and automatically look for water and don't give the sodas a 2nd thought. When I see the junk foods, I instantly look away and start telling myself why it's good not to eat that. This is also how I quit dmoking

I think she was just hoping for some reassurance.

Actually, I know the post you speak of. The original poster stated that she had called her clinic and they wanted her to come in on Monday. So no harm done with any advice that you might have given her or not have given her. She had already done what was necessary.

Miralax will help with the constipation. Stay hydrated and keep moving. You'll do good.
