Call your surgeon about what is an acceptable laxative. Mine allowed stool soft era daily, milk of magnesium, and miralax. Miralax saved my life. It's amazing how some people say liquids in liquids out, I was on liquids 5 weeks and it didn't work that way. If your doc says ok for miralax give it time, took 5 days for it to work for me, but it also removed bloat. Now I take magnesium caps.

What to you experience when you are "done" eating?
SandyM replied to Tashaplus3's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That's pretty much what I feel, a pressure in sternum that is. -
The only foods off limits to me are ones I can't tolerate. So far okra. I admit there are a few I haven't gotten the nerve up to try

I do magnesium daily. My surgeon recommended it.

Also individual cheeses

Had a rough few months but back on track
SandyM replied to finallytime's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You go girl. If stuffing your face would make your troubles go away, I'd be the first to tell you to do it. But, unfortunately it will just compile and add to your misery. You got this. -
I don't really have any no-no foods. Or, I didn't til the other night. I bought some okra, you know the dehydrated type with sea salt. It crunched just like a cheese puff and actually was pretty good. I only had about 3 pods and it hit me......Oh boy did it hit me. An hour later, I swore off okra forever. I don't think I've ever been so miserable. I can usually even do breads, slowly and limited. I have had my fights with chicken, fish, okra, eggs, bread, pork chop. I try not to blame the food, its nearly always me. Except maybe the okra

As said, you'll find with any addiction, one of the hallmarks that many experience is failing and restarting. We've all been there with our many diets. But to beat it, you really have to want it and be willing to follow the rules. There are alot of people that set expectations that are unreasonable and then when they don't reach their goals, they feel like the band failed them whereas in all actuality, they set themselves up for failure in fthe first place. You can do this and this board is a big help. Don't let the voice of some folks determine your destination.

Yep, I've been giving thought to how I'm going to wean myself of my obcessions once the weight is gone. I think I'm going to start with relocating my scales to my daughters house and weighing weekly for a while. I don't want it to get out of control and if I need to regroup, I want to do it early. We'll see.

Where are you in Arkansas?

Restriction for me means satisfaction with a limited amt of food. This amt can be different , depending on your fill and should be able to maintain you for 3 to 4 hours. Full for me is a very uncomfortable feeling that doesn't feel a whole lot different than being stuck. Something I avoid. I'm not sure if that's a plication thing or what.

Looking for some help getting back on track!
SandyM replied to timeforchangetonya's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Like with anything, set small goals. Even with school. When I was in nursing school. I survived by planning and thinking holiday break to holiday break. Ex spring break etc -
I'm a little tighter due to the cold, but I still can eat and drink. I would worry if I couldn't drink, regardless of the temperature out. I wake my band up with warm coffee each morning. Does us both a world of good.

I've lost track of whats in my band, as long as its working, that what counts. I, like everyone here would love to wake up and be thin. It aint gonna happen. 1 lbs a week is a great loss and you'll get there and more likely stay there with this loss. In fact, I'm to the point, in the past month, I've bumped up to 2 lbs a week and thought of ways to slow it down. Just don't want to reverse losing. You'll get there and 5 lbs a month is all I've lost throught my journey exept the last 2 months.

Vicodin Hell - Laughter is the best med, right?
SandyM replied to honestitriedtofindaname's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
400 lbs woman goes to her Doctor and he tells her shes a mess. Her knees are bad, her back is bad, her cholesterol is through the roof, shes borderline diabetic has very bad sleep apnea and he tells her that she problably won't live another year in the shape shes in. That night she gets on her volumous knees and prays to the Lord to help her that she's not ready to die. The Lord tells her to not worry about it, she's going to live to be a very old woman. She's so happy that she goes and has LAPBAND surgery, loses lots of weight, has a tummy tuck and goes ahead and gets a facelift and breast job. She's feeling pretty good about herself by this time. She goes to cross the street on one of her many many shopping trips and is hit but a bus. She gets to heaven and tells the Lord "What the h....? Do you realize how much money I spent to look this good cuz you told me I would live to be an old woman? Do you realize what i have gone through with the many surgeries I've had? The Lord looked at her.....turned around and gave her a 2nd look and said..............Oops! Sorry, I didn't recognize you. -

Tonya, I know how stressful nursing school can be, I remember it well. To add the loss of a parent makes it a million times worse. I'm so sorry for your loss. You know you can have all of the support here that you wish for. You can do this. Just keep remembering your father would want you to be healthy. If I were you, I'd create a new start by restarting my postop diet and take it from there. Also, try to make some exercise time....I know how hard this is, but it will help your stress level and your diet. Keep us posted. -
Simply amazing. I can see the confidence written all over your face. Congratulations.

Same regret here. Plus, I put aside a garment to compare with and now have mistakenly discarded it. I rarely took pictures in the past, so I really have very little to look back on.

Swimming after procedure ....
SandyM replied to tdeizme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Speak with your surgeon about this. It's going to depend on your healing. you don't want to introduce any germs into your healing wounds. -
1500 calories may be a little much. I started out at 1000 and by advice of my doc went to 1200. Weight loss was minimal. I've now backed back down to 900-1000 and weight loss has taken off again.

Surgery on a Friday...back to work Monday
SandyM replied to krps0930's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surg on Friday and back to work on Monday. I would like to had an extra day. But also , I don't do pain med so I guess that could have had some impact -
i had band and plication too. I know what you're talking about. I lost steady for 3 months before I finally got my first fill. I believe I could have done without the fills, but it would have been slower. I never experienced bandster hell as some talk about here.
