How much protein should I have?
SandyM replied to honestitriedtofindaname's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Actually, with Protein shakes you can far exceed this. My surgeon says that as long as I don't have kidney problems, the Proteins won't hurt me and if anything, they will be far better for me than the carbs. In fact, he suggests to eat my proteins first, veges 2nd, carbs 3rd and if I can eat the carbs, next time to increase the protein and try to get away from the carbs as much as possible. I'm getting to where I don't even prepare them, much less put them on my plate. Hubby still likes them, but he's learning to live without them too. -
I know, my favorite "better home" scent is Carrot Cake. I love carrot cake and thought it would make me crave, but it really doesn't. In fact, I think it gives me a little satisfaction. Its weird.

Take it with a grain of salt. I've had people that looked at me funny as they backed away, but came back later to ask questions. To some, its just a very uncomfortable conversation. They can compliment you, but they really don't know how to handle the details.

Ok.....you've got me measuring. I don't have that much space between my boobs and my belly button. But, mine is about 5 inches above belly button.

My hubby likes to say we got a 2fer. I've lost 69, he's lost 35 due to his change of diet and exercise. Congrats on your NSVs. The add up wonderfully.

Could be your ok as long as you can get solids in. as for chewing well and eating slowly, that's what we are supposed to be doing. Get your proteins in...very important.
-
I totally agree. If they are a problem, avoid having them in your house. Convince yourself they are poison as they really are. That's what I do with peanut butter.

As said, it's very individual. The real question here if your getting hungry that soon, is how much protein is in your meals. My surgeon tells me if I get hungry in less than 4 hours double the protein in the next meal. I'm never able to eat the whole doubled portion. If I do this and still get hungry in less than 4 hours, it's prolly time for a fill. Also, make sure it's not head hunger. When you think you are hungry, drink 8 or 10 oz of water and wait 30 -45 minutes and try to get your mind off food. If you are still hungry, you prolly do need a fill. What everyone else has in their band isn't relevant here.

Totally agree. I have 138 listed as my goal due to BMI charts. I'm pretty happy where I am right now. I will continue trying cuz I can , but if I don't lose any more, I will be content with where I am. I'm focusing on exercise, Protein and Water. Hubby and I are going to try carb cycling for a month or 2 starting march 1st. Kind of like a big hoorah, lol. He would like to lose 8 more lbs and of course I'm going to try for the last 17.

So, last night were you able to tolerate the solids? Also, what were the solids?

My deductable just went up to 70 dollars. So, guess that's what I'll be paying. It was only 30 dollars last year

I have my sugar free hot chocolate. I have it every evening and I really look forward to it. Evenings are the hardest for me, I've noticed it's when my band seems to be the loosest. I rely very much on MFP for this reason.

Sounds about right.

plications is the folding and stiching of the stomach, kinda like the sleeve. What you folks are experiencing is "bandster hell". You get a little restriction after surgery due to the swelling of the stomach. After the swelling goes down, you have to follow a strict "diet" until you get adequate fills to give you the restriction you need. After each fill, you might feel some restriction and think you have hit the "green zone" and then the restriction ends up going away or dimming. Eventually, you do hit the green zone and it stays. Good luck and keep reading.

Stretching pouch with liquids?
SandyM replied to SecretBander's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Liquids don't bother me either, they normally go straight through. Problem with gulping, you may get a little gassy. -
Lol, same here. Very few pictures.

13 lbs since surgery is pretty impressive too.

POSE ( Primary Obesity Surgery Endoluminol)
SandyM replied to HealthyNewMe's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I had plication and I certainly wouldn't have minded not having the incisions -
Sometimes it takes 3 or 4 weeks for the fill to settle and swelling to resolve. Try to get your proteins and stay hydrated. If it were me I'd give it a little and see what happens

Mg oxide has poor absorption for something's but this results in the looser stools you are seeking. If you were taking it for heart or bones, it prolly wouldn't be best choice.
-
And, I take mine daily with my vitamins.
-
I just go to Walmart to the Vitamin section and by magnesium tabs. 250 mg. Works for me. They are the size of an ibuprofen. You can always chew them up, but they are chalky.
