How does your band feel when you wake up?
SandyM replied to JustWatchMe's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Your stomach would change positions slighly due to the lengthy time you are prone. Guess it could cause a slight swelling until youre up and around. Could be why my nutritionist/coordinator suggests we "wake our bands up" in the am with something warm. I do that and have no problem. But, most here say they can't really eat in the morning. I can, but admittedly, I don't keep my band as tight as some. -
Wow1. I'd have to look for me somebody else. I mean SERIOUSLY? Was he seriously just blind sticking you? My port has always been really prominent and a student could hit it. But to not even get in the vicinity.

When your surgeon allows real food like grilled chicken. You are probably already there. I went to GNC and bought a variety pack. I'll figure out what I like and what I don't this way

I have a friend, actually shes a friend of the family that keeps asking me about how I'm losing weight. She is about 150 lbs overweight and I want so bad to talk to her and fill her in but, I haven't shared my news with my husbands side of the family and don't really want them to know. But, I feel I should fill her in on her options. I could see when I visited with her the other day that she is so down about herself. I was wondering how many people over 65 have had this surgery and how you fared with it. Also, does medicare pay for it?

Thanks guys. I did in fact talk to her for while tonight and the decision is hers. I know shes giving it some serious thought, I've even told her about this site so she may be on to ask questions. We discussed all of the WLSs not just the band.

I relate. I might have gone for the sleeve had I known more about it. Don't get me wrong, I love my band, I've done well, but looking at the problems here, I probably would have more peace of mind. I just have to remind myself that there's lots out there that don't follow the rules or Have eating habits they can't change

Not healthy, but loving it....

If you can't get into your doctor definitely go to ER. My hey are fully equipped to handle your situation -
thanks. We have a GNC. I'll have to check it out

I hit a stall for a month, doing all proteins for a week and wt loss has already restarted
-
I have felt the same thing. But each additional step of the journey makes me a little happier with myself. Good luck and I agree with setting small goals, that way you won't become complacent
-
Don't think so. As stated, food can get stuck but it's not going to break the band, just make you miserable
-
After each fill I've had I've been super careful til I saw how I was going to do. Too, sometimes it takes several days to several weeks to see how it's going to do

How much did you lose in the first few months?
SandyM replied to futureformerfattie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums

When I get home I'll see if there is a brand logo on it. My surgeon said he orders them by the cases -
Ok, thought surely I'd find these at SAMs club or walmart. Any suggestions?
-
I think I'll try one. If I like it I can buy bulk

Which flavor is the best?

Yawning.? Nose dripping? SOFT SPOT? Say what?
SandyM replied to lapbandchic73's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yeah, you just kinda know after awhile. -
He's right. Use this time to learn to chew, chew, chew and take small bites to avoid problems once the band is tightened. As for the fill itself, it's no big deal at all.

May 23rd 2014 is the day......
SandyM replied to prolife2014's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations on this new journey. There are alot of naysayers and the thoughts you are experiencing are pretty universal. I remembered everytime I had a loss, I wondered if I had just been lucky and that was the last loss I'd have. It took a while before I felt I had some control and that it wasn't just the band. The band is a tool, but a very useful one. You still have to do the work and it sounds like you are more than prepared. Good luck and keep us posted. -
It'll move pretty fast. Congratulations. The 1st week is the hardest.

Change is what keeps life exciting. Get excited about your changes, because change is what this journey is all about.

"I am going to try" is the worse think you can think. Set a goal, a very reachable one and plunge head on into it. I know that sounds easier said than done, but believe me when I say at first it will be easier to talk yourself out of it than into it.
