Good job

All I can say is "WOW". You look great. Walking helps with the weight, metabolism and overall sense of well being. I've moved onto to cycling, but still enjoy a good walk. Running will never be for me as my knees aren't good. Keep up the good work.

I smoked for years and gave it up when my my died of heart disease at 54 years of age. I use to miss it, but now, its just one more thing I'm grateful to not want. I'm looking forward to junk food fitting into that slot as well and it is happening, slowly but surely.

I think the more comfortable I become with my band the more I have to remind myself to eat mindfully.

I believe your psychologist might be focusing on your habits and personality with food and that is important. Problem here is, you'll have to change that with any of the WLSs. There are lots here that have made it work with them and you can too. Do your own research, confer with your surgeon and do whats best for you. Don't let anyone make your decision for you. Its you that has to make it work so it should be your decision. That being said, I love my band:)

When did you start really exercising after surgery, and what is your "go-to" workout?
SandyM replied to Junebug36's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Start easy and you body will tell you when it's ready to do more. I started walking on the treadmill it wasn't long til my body started yelling "run". Had to ignore it cuz of my bad knees, so my body has settled for cycling. -
The way I've done it is set small reachable goals and just focus on that goal. I had the weight by my birthday, weight by anniversary, size by somebody's wedding, you get the picture. Something else I did was bought a pair of jeans 2 sizes small and tried them on when I weighed weekly. These things helped me keep focused on the plan.

Band is different from other WLS in that band causes no absorption problems. On the other hand, you are probably not getting adequate nutrition. Suggestion, don't eat ice, don't drink tea around meals and take your iron pills with vitamin c.

Very interesting. Shows the difference in surgeons. Mine says don't skip breakfast or other meals so as to keep insulin levels balanced

You still have a lot of swelling. Sounds like you just experienced your first sliming episode.
-
Same here. I can eat pretty much what I want just have to move with caution with some things. I thought about a tweaking , but am worried about pushing limits. My wt loss has stalled but I'm right at goal, plus I don't follow a strict cal ct anymore. Sounds like you're there. As for pork, the worst stuck episode I've ever had was pork chops, so I haven't tried it since. Guess there is something I can't...or won't try to eat.

Sounds like you're getting there. Might need some tweaking. I have found that it takes a couple weeks for my fills to settle in

Yes, I enjoy shopping so much now. I use to hate it cuz no matter what I put on, it made me look short and fat. Guess it really wasn't the tops doing that???? -

Yep, congratulations. Miler you'll get there. I found that age and hormones played a big factor in my wt loss -
"Cardio" setting vs "Fat Burn" setting on elliptical
SandyM replied to HealthyNewMe's topic in Fitness & Exercise
When I do the eliptical, I like to do my fatburner first and then go full on cardio for about 20 minutes. Heartrate is already up there and you get full benefit. -
"Cardio" setting vs "Fat Burn" setting on elliptical
SandyM replied to HealthyNewMe's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Yes, but cardio helps increase your hdls. Mine by the way were 66 last time I visited clinic. -
I like turkey burger, topped with sour cream, saurkraut, shredded cheese and wholly guacomole.

Low carb diet compliance
SandyM replied to I will what I want's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My doc has always recommended less than 70. Most days I try for much less than that. It's really not as hard as you think if you cut out the obvious ones. -
i notice the miralax works better for me if I have it early in the morning. I usually have a dose at night then each morning until I'm happy.

You don't owe her excuses or explanations, but don't risk your band. She probably won't be the one scoping you if that's what they choose to do. Talk to whoever that person is.

Divorce rates and WLS. (link to article inside)
SandyM replied to bflblog's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My husband married me when I was young and thin. He continued to love me though I became old and fat. Then, he went on a diet after I was banded and lost 45 lbs himself. I have no worries that we got this. We celebrate 35 years next month. It would take more than a small silicone band to come between our gold ones☺️ -
Do you hope to get smaller than your goal? Why or why not?
SandyM replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
At 160 you would have a BMI of 27 which is considered overweight. Obese is greater than 30 BMI -

I'm a size 8 and I don't really have a desire to be smaller, though I would like to tone and that alone will make me smaller I guess. -
