  1. My surgeon always numbs me. I never feel a thing, he has a difficult time find my port entrance. I've had 3 fills now, he has never just left me hanging because he couldn't find it. I would definitely asked to be numbed just in case he has a difficult time finding it. I know the first fill I had was so difficult because he said I still had some swelling and fluid from surgery, but after several sticks he found it. Good luck!

    Breathing

I did not get one either and I wondered about not having one, as I know many times after surgery they usually give you to help clear your lungs.

    Port Sites

Tams, I will try that! I am a side sleeper and it kills me to not be able to sleep on my side, and of my pick would be the left side

    Port Sites

Mine is to the right above my belly button, almost in line of my breast. It's been my sorest point. I was banded on the 23rd. I still can not lie on my left side, terribly sore and uncomfortable. I haven't been able to figure that one out.
  5. Wow, what an inspiration you are. You look great! Keep up the awesome work!

    I Need A Fill

Hotbutterfly, my surgeon/dietician has me doing 3 oz of protein shake every hour, that is helping me alot more. I started out like you just drinking one when I was hungry. Give this a try and see if it helps. It's more time consuming, but I don't have the hunger pains. I'm trying to push more water in between, my problem is I'm not a big drinker of anything, so pushing fluids is my weakest task. Best of luck
  7. Hey there, I am out 3 days and finally today I have started feeling a little more like myself. I have had terrible gas pains, but they seem to be improving. I have only had two doses of pain meds today and very happy with that. Hopefully won't have to have any tomorrow. I haven't been drinking as much as I probably should be. I am confused on how I should feel. I have been drinking a couple protein shakes a day, sipping them very slowly, but feels like I'm getting more down than I should be, but I become very full. I am anxious to hear what you should feel like right after surgery, and when do they give your the first fill? Just so thankful to be feeling better and up moving around now.

    Sleep?

I'm a stomach side sleeper and I haven't been able to sleep on my tummy at all, and very little on my side. Too much pain, I guess it depends on your pain level when you lie on your stomach. They didn't tell me not too. Hopefully in the next day or so mine will improve. Good luck!

    Banded on 7/23

Rosianna, yesterday was by far the worse pain. That's one day out of surgery. This morning was very rough and up in the day, but tonight I'm starting to feel some improvement, slowly but surely. Tomorrow will be day 3 post op, so praying tomorrow will be better, but no way could I go back to work right now.

    Pain meds

I got banded on Tuesday, he gave me liquid loritab. It's been controlling mine but I have been taking it every 5 hours instead of 6 to keep the pain from kicking in. I hope to back off the pain meds tomorrow.

    Banded on 7/23

I was on a liquid/full liquid the last two weeks, and like you to be on that for two more weeks then puréed. They told me I could have all the sugar free liquids, water, protein shakes, cream of wheat, oatmeal (very thinned down with water), yogurt, creamed soups ( very thinned) My mother made me some of her soup but it was strained and very thin. I was only able to eat a few small bites.
  13. I am right out of being banded on Tuesday, 7/23. I have had a really tough time. I was in surgery much longer than planned, a little over 3 hours. He ran into some problems with my surgery. He thought he was going to have to cut me open, but thank God he didn't have too. I was sent home that night, and must admit yesterday was a horrible day. There was a few times I thought, omg what have I done to myself. Last night was a little better than the night before as in pain and sleep. Today, the morning started off rough but as the day went on I have felt like I am starting to slowly improve. I wasn't able to get anything down yesterday but ice chips and some popsicles. Today I have been able to eat a small amount of greek yogurt and very small amount of potato soup. I have a lot of bruising, but sure thats where they had such a tough time. I am praying that tomorrow will bring me a better day. I am kinda surprised by this, as normally I tolerate pain pretty well.. but this one has kicked my butt. Any suggestions on how long before I hopefully start bouncing back some..
