Spouse not supporting the new you?
cmaiorano replied to Boo Boo Kitty's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
maybe you have changed and do not need the other 1/2. Perhaps you were un-secure before and needed that attention and now you do not. Just a thought. My husband never worried about me before, but now he asks all sorts of questions-where are you, who are you with , are you working on the road today etc. Never before did he ask that. But I have to tell you honestly, I do not feel dependent on him at all---this is about me and my needs not his. -
Banded 2/19/07 Unbanded 3/2/07 try again?
cmaiorano replied to Carrie E's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I read your post 3x, is your lap band Dr. who's hand slipped and cut your stomach? I am not sure after reading your article. I know you want to be thin, but HEALTHY is where it is at! Get your health back to normal first then think about doing this again much later on. It will take your body 1 year to re-generate. Too risky too soon. -
nope, New Jersey here! How are you doing?

I was freezing also at the start I think it has to do with body fat loss. I do not have the condition anymore, but it was painful. Have you had any doplers completed for blood flow? I had them done b4 banding and all was perfect. Just a thought. Talk to a vascular Dr. maybe.

Unfilling (is that a word?) before vacation, your thoughts?
cmaiorano replied to FatBoySlim's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
How do you like dieting so far? This is plain stupid. Why would you put youre-self into all of this just to screw it up to eat again. If you are putting this out there you must be thinking about it......the Dr. that told you this is just in it for the money. It is like driving in reverse all the time.!!!!!!! -
I guess Indiana likes us big folks. How can a state make a weight loss law? This is crazy. Go somewhere else and have the band completed.

How Many Calories Do You Consume On An AVERAGE Day?
cmaiorano replied to WASaBubbleButt's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have lost 70 lbs. from 3/5/07 I intake approx 800 to 1000 calories per day. -
Those days are gone if you want to loose the weight. Start to have discipline now and your result will be great! Get a calorie book and check out the grams of fat in a hot dog and pizza. Not to mention the calories. Get you mind set on the right things to eat. You will do great.

ok, now listen I am really wandering about this. I was banded on 3/5/07 only filled once on 6/5/07 lost 70 lbs. But I could never ever eat 3 hot dogs i would puke (sorry). I can only eat very small portion at one time. example: dinner 1/2 cup lean chicken not dry 1 cup salad I am stuffed. How are you eating like that and still loosing weight. Hot dogs are all fat, you must have incrediable metabolism!

New Here and protein shake help needed
cmaiorano replied to thisisforme's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
hello there, banded on 3/5/07 age 60 1 fill lost 70 lbs to date and still going. You really need to get the rules and diet down. Whey protien in choc. go to a health dood store and buy a big can of it. Mix it with ice and water in a blender it gets very thick and tastes great you need one every day for at least 2 weeks . It has 37 grams of protien per shake you will be on clear liquids the first week then 1/2 cup never ever a whole cup-of grits oatmeal anything that is soft and easy to swollow. Remember to drink losts of water and caffeine free ice tea coffee no soda no matter what and no drinking with meals. you should only eat 3x a day. Little portions . If you over eat the band will stretch and defeat the purpose. You must follow a very strict diet. I am a type 2 diabetic and use to take 3 shots a day my sugars always in the 200's. now I take 1 shot a day .06units. I am on the tred mill every day and I have never felt better in my life. Do not forget Flinstone chewable vitamins. 3 x a day--. Good Luck -
Has anyone bee sucessful without fills ?
cmaiorano replied to kimmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It is a big mental thing I had my banding on 3/5/07 did fabulous with out a fill. Started to get very hungry and found I could eat more. The stomach is swollen post op once the swelling goes down you will become hungry. I had my first fill on 5/30/07 it is fine you have to chew and slow down no liquids with your meal etc. follow the rules. -
How is weight loss for people over 50?
cmaiorano replied to debi717's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Listen get that lap band snug so that only particles can slip through. Here is a basic day for me. Protien shake am. mid morning ice coffee cafine free no sugar but my have xtra cream. lunch-yogurt 60 calorie Light and Lively with 2 tlbs. low sugar granola with dried fruit. 1 stick fat free cheese. dinner-chicken beef scallops (I do not eat fish) salad or streamed green veggie. No soda, no caffine, no sugars, no carbs. Instead of eating walk when things are bigger than you to handle put your I-Pod on and pund the side walk it is better then eating chips. Why have you only had 1 fill? It is almost a year your band is not funtioning the way it should with out the fills. START OVER AGAIN GO ON LIQUID DIES FOR 3 DAYS THEN START TO INTRODUCE THE RIGHT FOODS AGAIN. If you read my post I have lost well today it is 69 lbs. since 3/5/07. Get that strong will back and set little goals for yourself. I did when I reach 280 new coach bag. 250-new fendi sunglasses. For the first time in my life me the care giver is giving care to ME> -
It's all about the great hands and technique of your Dr. I bruise like crazy but nothing on my back big purple yellow bruise on the port site-they made a 4" cut there because they could not get the port in place. but the 4 little holes are pale pink. Buy some Vitamin E capsules and open them up and put on your wounds. Go back to your Dr. and ask why????that is what you paid him for. The discolorazation will fade give yourself 6-8 weeks if not then strt barking. They put a tremendous amount of pressure on the scope and do not forget your belly is blown up like a baloon for the scope so you have to have brusing. I was banded March 5th still have some color left on the sites.

How is weight loss for people over 50?
cmaiorano replied to debi717's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
To the over 50 club. We are the new 40 anyway. My weight loss has been easy and rapid I guess I am really not sure. I know one thing when this is all finished I will do tummy tuck and boobs! My arms well they are staring to get flubalubigus they swing with the motion ! Dear Lord please do not let me wave to any one while wearing a tank top. But hell you can have sleves. The worst for me is my stomach I was 297 lbs when I started on March 5th I am 230 lbs now I want to be 165/170 good weight for me have not seen that weight in 40 years ouch. I put a tred in the spare room and I am on it every chance I get-this is from one who would ride around wal-mart for 20 min. looking for the close spot and would glide on the cart instead of pushing it. It is all a mental outlook. But I have to tell all of you that I am not hungry, I only eat now for survival. I purchased a size 14 dress and that is the goal I am working on. I use to do dunkin dog. every morning with 2 cream dog. Just the thought of that makes me sugar high. I am an insulin diabetic that use to take 4 shots a day 35 units each time since the band I have not had a blood sugar over 95 I take 2 shots a day 6 units each soon I will be off the insulin.....how great all of this has been for me. Work hard, stay faithful to yourself it is all about the big you now.:biggrin1: -
How is weight loss for people over 50?

Hello there ---we all know why the scale goes up---its the person behind us stepping on it while we are trying to weigh ourselves!!!!! If you fall get back up. I truly think this diet thing with the band is all in our heads. I use to think about food all of the time---what to have for lunch dinner etc. I am a great cook and everyone still loves my kitchen except me. When they are all stuffing their faces it makes me ill----I have to think that I use to eat like that.!!! LOL I am truly not able to eat much now ----I have a great hospital that made you train before the surgery and I think that is the trick--I was totaly ready for this mentaly. Each day was a baby step I went from size 30 on March 5th 2007 to size 20 and my shoes OH My Gosh from a 91/2 to size 8. I say bring it on!!!!! good luck! -

March 5, 2007 Bandster age the big 60. female I have lost 67 lbs to date and just 3 weeks ago got my first fill. What is going on with you? -
hello I had my surgery on March 5th, they are almost gone but have the same yellow purple thing going on. For my port I have about a 4" cut they had a hard time getting it in the bruse was awful, I had staples everywhere. Today they are just pale pink. It is my badge of curage so to speak. I am really ok. with it. I have lost 67 lbs to date I just had my very first fill 3 weeks ago. My weight loss was so good the Dr. let me go until I told him I was getting hungry each day. Now I am eating like a bird and when I rush I get the golf ball pain thing going on ----then I stop because food is so un-important to me now.

Had my lap banding on 3/5/07. I was scared to death---never have been put to sleep or in the hospital for anything other than giving birth. This was a dramatic choice for me I am going to be 60 years old, lived all my life as a "fat person". I did alot of reading and internet work on lap band. I found the best lap band Dr. and support group here in NJ. They are Virtua Hospital new beginnings, nurses, classes, nutritional classes and a gym. So off I went for the procedure they ended up having to cut me about a 4 inch spot because they had trouble getting the port in the right place. I look at the scar now as my badge of courage. I have lost 35 lbs to date and feel like a lion. I walk every day about 1-mile. I have endless energy. Before I was a insulin dependent diabatic-not sure if I am any more-----my insulin requirements now are almost nothing I think as more weight comes off I will pack away the needles. I have not had a blood sugar over 100. funny thing when they woke me up in recovery the Dr. said "cindy I just gave you back 15 years to add onto your life" but that is the best way to think about this. :clap2:
