Please don't stress yourself out. My husband doesn't understand either' date=' and he has never been over weight! My surgery is Monday the 5th of August! I am on the downside of the preop diet, just have 3 more days. You can do this. Stay focused![/quote']Thanks Country heart!
My husband also has never had a weight problem. I am just trying to get thru these next few days, keeping my eye on the prize! I really appreciate the words of encouragement. It helps to come here and communicate with others going thru the dame thing.

Wondering from those of you on your pre op diet how it is going. I am on day 4 of 2 weeks. The first couple of days not bad, now I'm stressing out a little. It's hard to explain to my husband how I feel. Feeling a little frustrated.

Lol! I have thought about that too :-) I have around the same amount to loose probably 120-130. I am hoping exercise will help. I have had a few surgeries and have never had a problem with the anesthesia. But everone is different. But most don't. It will be okay! :-)

I have been also. Like you, I read about people who have failed or I know people who have. BUT... I also see or hear what they are doing or more importantly not doing. I think what is the most scary is that failure possibility. I have made all the lifestyle changes that I needed to a long time ago and live a very active life. I am hopeful that this will be the tool that will finally help me achieve that goal that has always been out of reach. My doctor and dietitian have been telling me I will do very well. Guess I just gotta have faith! Don't worry too much about the anesthesia. Is this your first time having a surgery? Typically its not too bad.

My date is set for August 12th and I start my 4 week pre-op today! I'm excited yet nervous that I might cheat cause my boy friend is a bit of a diet sabotager. But with this site I'm sure I'll have enough support to stay on track!I'm august 12th too! Best of luck to you!

Thanks. I am interested to see the variation in preop diets. Some are on full liquids and some don't have a preop diet.I am finding it interesting also. I will start my pre-op diet the 28th. I will be full liquids for 2 weeks. I can have lean meats, dairy, and non starchy vegs the first 7 days. I have a very strict food guideline that I cannot stray from. Must eat or drink at least 60 gms protein/day and lots of Water.

I am August 12th. Excited, but apprehensive.

Welcome! My first piece of advice is to start a pre pre op diet. It helped me a ton. I started reducing calories and making sure to hit my Protein goal daily and it made the transition to liquids a lot easier and also jump started my loss. I dropped 5lbs in the 3 weeks before my pre op diet' date=' and then 12 on the pre op diet. I know some folks have a farewell food tour but it helped me feel more in control of my relationship to food to not go crazy and start the mindset switch I'm gonna need for the rest of my life. Good luck![/quote']
Thanks aviva! I really appreciate the advice! I have already switched some to liquids, doing Protein Shakes at Breakfast, but had not thought if making sure about my total protein intake. I have been really working on my Water intake too. I am looking foward to making connections with others on this site! It is difficult to find people to talk with who have no idea what you are currently dealing with. So Thanks!
