    Missing Fluid

Today I saw a new lap band doctor as my old one has left and I can no longer see him. Upon describing how I can only eat 2 bites of food at a time, the new doctor agreed to take out some Fluid. I told him last year (October 2015) my old doctor had over 7ccs of fluid in my band. After struggling with the needle for 5 minutes, the new doc finally found my port, but told me there was only 4ccs in there?!? He did not seem concerned whatsoever and told me that no, fluid cannot leak out. He said something that sometimes you just can't get it all? Being a worry wart, I googled why my lapband would be missing fluid when I got home and every link said "leak" "leak" "leak". Has anyone else had this issue? The doc did take 1cc out today, but I doubt my old 4ccs would have been giving me this restriction when last year I had 7.....

    The Losing Battle

I appreciate your honesty. I need more people like you in my life! lol I was completely honest with my new Dr. and he still recommended a revision. I'm the one who told him I wanted to investigate the reasons behind it. I went to a psychologist last month and DID NOT like her at all. She recommending joining a weight loss support group for bandsters a year out and up. I've signed up for that. I'm wondering if I should join weight watchers just to physically go to the meetings. When I used to visit my lap band dr. once a month for check ins that motivated me to lose because I knew he would say something if I didn't. With my new dr. and HSA insturance I CANNOT afford to go once a month anymore. My last visit to him cost me $350!!! Just to touch my stomach and refuse to do a fill/withdraw.

    The Losing Battle

Saw the new doctor today. He seemed to really push for revision and the bypass. Of all the surgeries I would never get the bypass because I have seen too many friends/family fail with it. He did also recommend trying behavioral health and seeing a nutritionist again. He also put me on the bariatric 3 diet. Basically the same diet you do right after surgery with liquids and mushy foods. This is going to suck, lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    The Losing Battle

Looking back I wish I had gotten the sleeve, but at the time it was a relatively new procedure. I am going to talk to my new doctor tomorrow about what has been going on. I am, however, concerned about the cost of the sleeve. When I had the band I had regular Cigna insurance. Now my work has switched over to HSA. Last time I paid $200 for a 10,000 surgery. I can't afford to put in $2000 this time to reach my deductible,,,,,

    The Losing Battle

After a few years I'm back on here after being at what seems like my wits end. I had the surgery in October of 2013 and had gotten myself down to 279 (90 pounds lost). Since getting a new boss last year, planning a wedding, and getting married I have gotten back up to 310. I know the reasons why. I started eating Snacks after dinner again, drinking a lot more wine, and eating full plates of food. I cannot eat full plates in one sitting. I can take two bites and then am stuffed. Now, however, I wait it out until those two bites go down and eat two more, then two more, and so on. I need help. Advice. Anything. Stress eating help? I exercise 30 min/3x per week (cardio). I see a brand new lap band doctor on Thursday as my old surgeon moved out of state. Interested to see what he says.... - Nicole

2 week pre op diet, average loss?

I lost about 14 pounds in my two weeks post-op. At about the 25 pound mark I stopped losing until I had my few few fills. Then the weight started really coming off about 2 months post-op.
  8. Okay, maybe I'm paranoid. Last night I got stuck while eating some chicken and broccoli casserole. I did have PB with it. After that I ate and drank fine. At about 3:30 this morning I woke up thirsty and took a drink of Water. Upon swallowing I noticed that ten seconds or so after swallowing I got a pain in the back of my throat. NOT a stuck feeling. The feeling you get when you swallow a pill too hard, right in the back of my throat. This pain continued for the rest of morning everytime I would take a drink. I have not had solid food this morning (in fear of agitating something). I'm going to do liquids for the rest of the day. It is about 10:30 am now and the pain seems to be getting less. I drank a coffee, a Protein shake, and am now drinking water. Any advice? Has anyone else had this problem before? I have never had this issue in the year I I've had my band. I had a fill at the end of the September (so not recently). - Nicole

Throwing Up with the Lap Band

Chicken is a big problem for me. I have to take one tiny bite at a time and most of the time I have to dip it in something (mayo or dijon mustard). I am really tight with the band in the morning (I can feel yogurt get stuck) and much loser at night (1/2 chicken breast and some veggies). My tip would be lube up the food you have issues with, but choose a dip low in calories like dijon mustard and such. Don't be like me and lather everything with mayo and then wonder why you aren't losing weight
  10. Since I hit my 75 pound weight loss mark in May of 2014 my weight loss has been at a stand still. This summer I joined a gym to help me lose weight and even got a personal trainer once a week. Now I bounce back and forth between the same 5 pounds. Lose 5 pounds, gain it back. Lose 5 pounds, gain it back. I am at 6.25 cc's and cannot eat solid foods comfortably until dinner. I know my non-weight loss is because I am not "scared" of the band anymore. I have begun eating my lap band portion and then waiting 30 minutes or so and going back for the rest. Bad, bad, bad. I do not drink soda. I exercise for at least 30 minutes 4x week. I drink at least 1000ml of Water a day. I eat between 1200-2000 calories per day. Tips? Ideas? Words of encouragement? Very frustrated because I know I do NOT need a fill and that it is completely my fault.
