Can you have surgery at the place that is far away and then use your in town doc for followup? Sent from my iPhone using VST -
Hi everyone! Can you weigh in on flying shortly after surgery? I'll be flying from Chicago to Oklahoma City for surgery so only a 2 hour flight. Will be 5 days after surgery. My doc already told me to walk every hour to help with clots and will be giving me a blood thinner. What I really want to hear though is YOUR story on flying. Was it miserable waiting to fly out? Awkward getting patted down by security? Any tips for me ? Sent from my iPhone using VST

I'm 5-10 with a large frame (big bones). I've seen myself at 165 and I looked too skinny. I'm going to shoot for 180 when things are all said and done

I was looking at care credit but was a little taken aback on the interest rates. Now I'm looking at getting a home equity line of credit. Much lower interest rate and I have a little while before I HAVE to start paying it back Sent from my iPhone using VST

Packergirl, I'm not sleeved yet but I'm going to be traveling to Oklahoma to be sleeved and then use my PCP for follow up. How about you? Sent from my iPhone using VST

I've repeated days before. I've got the app on my phone so you just click on the past ones vs going forward. The idea of the program is to build up your tolerance of jogging. If you can't jog, you can walk to the walks and increase to a power walk on the jog portions. Maybe do the whole program like that and then when you finish, restart the program at a jog? Just a thought! It won't be as hard on your joints at first Sent from my iPhone using VST

4 months out and falling off wagon
loveelaura replied to mamamareli's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've heard that the most amount of weight is lost during the first 8 months. Use your sleeve to its fullest so you can take advantage of the great tool you have. Best of luck! Sent from my iPhone using VST -
I ordered a sample pack from bj's bariatrics too. Very fast shipping Sent from my iPhone using VST

Did you keep your surgery a secret?
loveelaura replied to Disabledaccount's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I told my sister and my parents. I might tell my brothers and their wives after I get the surgery but time will tell. My brother's gf had lapband done last winter and there was lots of "chatter" about that so I would rather keep it on the down low. I was really nervous to tell my sister and parents but I explained the reasons WHY I needed to have it, I explained the procedure and stats and that this was just a tool to help me since its obvious I can't lose 100+ on my own. I didn't let anyone talk until after I'd said my piece. They had more questions about the surgery but were all very supportive. I was originally going to fly out to Oklahoma alone but my mom will be coming with me now. I've got larger friends and do not plan on telling them either. At least not until ive lost a good chunk of weight. Will not be telling my work about it either. Just that I'm taking a week of sick time for surgery, a week of vacay time to recover and will be working half days my first week back. They don't need to know what I'm having done!! Life is too stressful already to have to worry about negative people so either pay them no mind or just avoid telling that type of person! I want to concentrate on ME for once in my life and not pleasing people Sent from my iPhone using VST -
Hey guys! I'm still post op but I've got a question for those of you losing or have lost! If you had stretch marks, did they fade as you lost weight? (I apologize if this has been done before but I searched and could not find it)! I'm so curious! Sent from my iPhone using VST

Oh my god, that is the best phrase ever. I'm so sorry for your discomfort but thanks for the giggle at 6 30 in the morning! Sent from my iPhone using VST

Hey guys! Seen a ton of posts from people in the Windy City... Anyone in the suburbs? I'm southwest-- in the corn! Small town called Plano. Have not been sleeves yet; not until January. Would love to connect with some local area people! I'm traveling to Edmond, Oklahoma for mine. Self pay is way too expensive out here and this clinic I found has all wonderful reviews. Very excited to start this journey! Sent from my iPhone using VST

Congrats on your first steps! I had a virtual consultation with my surgeon last week and I was soooo nervous! He was soo patient with all my questions! What's helped me the most so far was connecting with someone on here who had surgery at the same clinic with the same doctor. She was able to give me a fly by fly on her experience and answer questions I had about the exact place I'll be going! Each doctor does things differently so it really eased my mind to read all her info. Just remember, the consult is just that. You aren't committing to anything that you don't want to do. Good luck Sent from my iPhone using VST

Thanks so much cumbie! I'm loving this info!! It's so great to know what to expect as far as the surgeons orders. Each surgeon is so different I've been reading! I do have a patient advocate-- Marsha/- but I haven't spoken to her yet. I've only really been in touch with Trevor so far... He's been very helpful Did you have to lose a certain amount of weight before surgery date? Sent from my iPhone using VST

I've got a virtual appointment with my surgeon on Thursday. My first one! I'm excited too I'm going to be financing since my work opted to not include WLS. I'm hoping UHC will cover all my pre-op tests though... I'm looking at hopefully scheduling in January! It's so exciting to take charge of our futures and know this great tool will help us! Thank you thank you thank you! I've read SO many different experience stories on here and blogs but it is wonderful to hear the basics from the place I'll be getting the surgery at! I know I'll get all the info later but I'm info hungry now At least that's an appetite that's okay to feed ha! So how long after were you on Clear Liquids, then full liquids, puréed, mushy, solids? You know what I'm super thrilled about? That they must check the staple line for leaks while you're under still becauseeeeeeee you said they have you drink Water and fluids right after. Wahoo!!! That was honestly what I was most nervous about! Not being able to drink for 24 hours after! I had my wisdom teeth out in may and that is what I remember the most. The dryyyyyyyyyyyyyy mouth! Yuck! Did they have you do an awake leak test at any point? Is it a true hospital that you stay in? I read somewhere that its like 30 beds? Was your room private? Sent from my iPhone using VST

Hey guys! I see a few mentions of people getting sleeved at WeightWise with Dr. Walton or Dr. Broussard. Can any of you walk me through your day of op and post op? I live in Illinois and will be traveling out early next year. Will be self pay. I have my first virtual appointment with Dr. Broussard on Thursday. I've got a ton of questions to ask so far even after reading on here for about a month! I know every place is different so I would love to hear about specific experiences and stories WITH WeightWise! (Clearly I'm super impressed with what I've read of wouldn't be traveling the 12 hours to see them lol) Thanks in advance!! Sent from my iPhone using VST

Gastric sleeve january/february 2014.
loveelaura replied to Debra Rodriguez's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm planning on January 2014 too! But that's mainly cuz I'm self pay and just about out of vacation time this year. And I want to change my habits so they'll be similar or easier to adapt to post surgery. I'm thinking of this time as the learning period. I've been reading on here for about a month and registered a week or so ago to start asking questions. Yay! I'm so excited to start on this new journey towards health! It's great to meet someone that's going to have surgery around the same time as me Sent from my iPhone using VST -
What to do with the negAtive nellies and Nay sayers
loveelaura replied to catobird1225's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That's what I'm afraid of. I've only told my parents and twin sister and that's all I'm going to tell beforehand at least. I started with all the morbities// how shorter my life would be if I stay morbidly obese, the diseases I'll get, etc. I talked about the stats and explained the surgery fully. They're all "on board " but are all definitely nervous for me. I'm not going until January bc I want to educate them and myself more as well as get into a routine before surgery. A self imposed diet and exercise plan haha Sent from my iPhone using VST -
What a difference 6 days can make

How was the driving on your recently surgical stomachs? Any pain from sitting up or pot holes? I live near Chicago and want to have surgery in OK... Either flying 2 hours plus airport time or driving 12 hours and dealing with weather and traffic (surgery would be in January) Sent from my iPhone using VST -
I work at a pet hotel (for dogs and cats) as an assistant manager! Not sleeved yet! Have a virtual appt online next week! Eek. Hoping to be sleeved in january!
