Jcoklahoma, Any tips or heads up's for me? I'm traveling out to WeightWise on January 20th to be sleeved the following day by dr.walton! I'm super excited but starting to get a little nervous!! Congratulations on your success! Sounds like you're doing great!!

    chia seeds

Omg I tried those in my shake and almost threw up! I'm still pre-op though. Is there a trick that I missed out on?

    Water

How much does a bag of ice cost from sonic?? I never knew they offered that !
  5. I asked my surgeon if having a cold would prevent me for being sleeved. He said if I'm leaking green from my face, yes. If I'm running a fever, yes. If it's just allergies or congestion, no. Have you been loading up on Vitamin c? Maybe you can break it up before surgery ! Best of luck!!
  6. Oh local self pay by me was 26k. That's why I looked into alternatives! The clinic I chose has amazing reviews-- especially my surgeon dr. Walton. This is at WeightWise
  7. I'm traveling to Edmond, OK. It will be 10k for self pay cash ( or credit card). If you finance thru care credit, I believe it's an extra 1k. I live near Chicago so I'll be staying a week in a hotel room out there as well and that is 400. airline Tickets I used reward points so it was only 10 for my mom and I

Do any of you have a specified amount of weight to lose before surgery? I was told I needed to lose 5% of my starting weight

    January 2014 Sleevers Come In!

Hey guys! I had my last phone consult with my surgeon last week. He is worried I will not lose the 5% before surgery... I meet jan 2 on the phone with my nut to see if I need to do a liquid diet to lose the weight ... I want to start it now so I can lose even more weight and be healthier for surgery! Surgery date is set for 1/21/14 in Edmond ok I gotta booked the airline tickets tickets yesterday. I am not going to let MYSELF fail. This surgery needs to happen! HW- 290 CW- 276 (bounces between 278 and 273) I need to be down to 267 on surgery but want to be less! My weight can seriously bounce that much in a couple days, even without me changing what I eat! I have 1-2 protein shakes a day already... How many should I be having on a full liquid diet ??

    What do I say?

If they don't know you're leaving, why don't you just say it's a stay-cation vacation? Time to relax and get things in order before the holidays? I don't plan on telling anyone at work why I'm having surgery. None of their business and I know I'll be judged in a heartbeat! I'd rather just focus on positive thoughts of healing from those few I have told so far

    Self-Paying

No. They will run tests to make sure you are healthy for surgery though. Seems like most will do blood work, EKG and sleep study. Depending on your surgeon, they may have you go on a diet to lose a certain amount of weight or to prep for surgery. I'm self pay and my doc has me attending nutrition and exercise classes once a month until I go for surgery.

    January 2014 Sleevers

I will be January 21st in Edmond, OK at WeightWise with Dr.Walton. I live near Chicago and will be flying out the 19th with my mom. We will be staying thru the 26th and flying home barring any complications. The only thing left on my surgery checklist is to continue to lose my 5% and do my nov & dec monthly phone consults!
  15. I have the choc truffle nectar and the Cookies n cream matrix right now. I do notice that I'll feel slightly more full for a little while longer after having the matrix shake. Is it enough for me to consistently buy only matrix in the future? Nope. Taste is pretty similar to the double stuffed nectar so I assume the flavors still all taste pretty comparable... I don't do science so I can't help you out in that aspect Oh, I blend with Water. Sometimes I'll add some vanilla yogurt just to add some creaminess though

    A few protein reviews

Brandy I haven't tried my sample pack of that one yet but I've read that it is good. Just gotta be careful what you mix it with for texture and heat
  18. I was similar to this. My typical work shift has always been 6am to 2pm. I would eat nothing at work (too lazy to pack anything and didn't want to spend money to go out) so I would eat a huge meal when I got home from work and that was it... My dietician prompted me to eat 3 meals a day. I did well for about a week and then tapered off. I would snack at work on things like PB crackers or nutro grain bars and then come come and eat my huge meal. I had another visit with her and she told me I need to get in the 3 meals. I told her I have a hard time stomaching anything in the morning due to being on the go at work and then getting nauseous. She suggested a Protein shake within an hour of waking up. I can do that! I was still having trouble eating a true lunch at work though so now I have another protein shake! And! When I go home from work, I don't have to eat right away and when I do cool dinner, it's protein packed! I've dropped a couple pounds in the last couple weeks. Woohu! I can't wait until after surgery so I can eat smaller portions and feel satisfied though. I won't be sleeved until January so between now and then, I'll be transitioning myself to pack a lunch of protein packed items. I've found that with myself, if I try to change all my bad habits at once, I fail. That's why I chose having surgery so far out ( I'm self pay) so I can change my crappy habits and implement the things I need to do forever! This surgery will be such a great tool in helping me stick with things. My biggest "threat" so to speak is carbs. I can say I've been "carb free" for a week! Breads, potatoes and rice were my weaknesses. I cleaned out my fridge, freezer, pantry and cupboards of EVERYTHING unhealthy and donated the foods. I live alone so if I don't buy it, I ain't eating it! I'm spoiled in that sense because I don't have to worry about others bringing junk in or wanting junk so I'm not even tempted. Good luck!

    Psych Eval

I've been wondering about these forms. I'm still pre op and haven't seen them yet. Are they similar to the long questionnaires you have to fill out on online job applications? That's totally what I envision lol

    Question For Alex. ...

Hmmm I wonder if this would work for my surgeons office...
  21. Oh I forgot to mention, my doctor will have me on blood thinners day of travel and walking every hour!
  22. I'm near Chicago so will be going to Oklahoma City and back. 2 hour flight. My doc said pre-op Monday, surgery Tuesday, in hospital for up to 2 nights, and then he will "release" me to fly over the phone barring no complications on Sunday. They do a leak test during surgery so as long as I'm feeling good, a physical exam is not necessary. If I need one, I would go on Monday If you read on some of the Mexico forums, some of the people fly a couple days after surgery. Have you peeked in those yet?

    Dying To Be Thin...

I'm so glad to read that you're recovered and doing much better!! I started out really interesting in the band but the maintenance and fills wasn't for me because I'm paying everything out of pocket. Then I started reading complications and weight gain when issues. I found about the sleeve and researched the crap out of it and have made my decision. I'm traveling out of state for it and when I first spoke to my surgeon out there, he told me he won't even do the lap band to anyone not in his area due to complications that arise. My brothers gf has a band so I just hope and pray it continues to work for her!
  24. Where are you flying to for surgery? I've been reading a lot of people's posts after surgery. It seems like day 3 after surgery is when they start feeling a little better
