    Suggestions on Slowing Down

I try to do something else between bites - read a half page in a book, or play on my phone. It really helps me pause in between.

    Challenge-September

I'm still bouncing around at 241/242. I've only had 1 fill and feel no restriction right now so I'm sure that's a contributing factor. I've upped my exercise recently so hopefully that'll help me drop a bit more weight before fill 2 in mid October.

    Couch to 5k

I'm not doing C25K exactly but I'm doing a walk/jog program. Right now I jog 2 min, walk 2 min 7 times. Will probably do that for another week then up it to jog 3, walk 2. I signed up for a 2 mile run in early November to help me stay motivated. I used to be able to run 3 miles at a time back when I lost a bunch of weight on Weight Watchers. I'm looking forward to eventually getting back there.

How long after surgery for excercising?

I started walking day 1 - just 10 minutes at first, and gradually building up to 40. At my 3 week follow up I was cleared for more strenuous exercise, with the warning to build up slowly and not do anything that hurts. I went to the gym for the first time today (4 weeks post op) and did 15 min elliptical, 15 recumbent bike, and 15 walking/stretching.

    Challenge-September

Still at 241 this week (no change from last) - I think my body needed a break after losing 23 lbs in one month.

    Just wondering a few things

My concern with belvita would be the high sugar content

    My secret reason!!

Great reason :-) My secret reason (after all of the rational ones) is also to stick it to my ex. He had lap band several years ago and wasn't successful with it - he was a huge naysayer when I told him I planned to get it. His reasoning - it stops working once you figure out how to eat around the band. Well DUHHH!!! There's your problem!!!

    New clothes?

I'm down 23 and I feel like clothes are looser and i can wear things now that were a bit too tight before, but I haven't dropped a size yet (I have about 100 to lose in total). I can't wait because I have a lot of cute clothes stashed in my closet that are 1 or 2 sizes too small.

    Challenge-September

Checking in at 241! Getting in my 60 grams of protein per day. I'm in Colorado and the weird weather has messed up my daily walking schedule but I plan to start that up again today.
  12. 8 lbs in 2 weeks is great! Your body may just need to catch up with the significant amount you have already lost. Just continue to follow your doc's guidelines, drink lots of water, get some walking in and eventually the weight will start to fall off again.

    day 3 of 63...

Drink lots of water to help flush out the lactic acid, eat a banana, and try icy hot or something equivalent. Stretching and a hot bath should also help. I've never attempted insanity but my legs felt the same way after a 6 mile bike ride when I haven't biked in 10+ years. It sucks!!

    Had my consult

I had a 12 level spinal fusion (T2 to L3) 3 years ago, and got the band just over 2 weeks ago. I walk at least 60 minutes every day and have lost 19.5 lbs so far. I'm encouraged to exercise because it helps manage my back pain - the stronger your muscles are, the less they hurt in my experience. I'd get a second opinion if you feel the band is right for you.

    New band; diet concerns

I'm also about 2 weeks post op. My breakfast today was 1 scrambled egg with a bit of shredded 2% cheese, 1/4 diced avocado and a dab of salsa (didn't eat the chunky bits). I would skip the toast for now but I'd think the egg would be ok.

    One year today 9/4

    Congrats, you look amazing!!
  19. Fantastic progress! I got banded a little over a week ago and I have another week before I start soft foods. I can't wait to eat scrambled eggs, non blended chili, mashed potatoes, fish and veggies again! I'm already thinking about some of the meals I want to cook.

    What's for Dinner?

I'm still on liquids so puréed soup - either tomato with plain Greek yogurt mixed in for protein, or creamy chicken noodle.

    C25K

I agree it's a good program. I did it 8 years ago when I was on Weight Watchers and it helped me through the last 15 pounds after a plateau. Unfortunately I stopped running shortly after my first 5k and gradually began to gain back the 98 lbs I had lost! I'm definitely planning to give it another go once I'm back in onederland, assuming my back cooperates (I had major spinal surgery a few years ago and I'm not entirely sure how it'll do with running).
  22. I'm eating 1/2 to 3/4ths of a cup on average. Small curd cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, blended soups, milk, and protein shakes have been my staples.

    Newbie. Help?

I was banded 8/26 as well and that sounds quite a bit different from my experience. I'm eating/drinking protein shakes, yogurt, small curd cottage cheese, and blended soups with no problems. 1/2 to 2/3rds of a cup at a time, 4 times a day. My doc doesn't put any saline in the band at surgery. I agree it sounds like maybe some was added and you are experiencing extra swelling. Good luck, I hope it gets better soon!!

    Newbie. Help?

I was also banded 8/26 and that sounds different
  25. I forgot to add - ice pack on your belly could also help, I have a big flexible one from a medical supply store that was invaluable those first three or four days.
