blood work 2 months post op
Bullink replied to Bullink's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Insulin was sligltly elevated, some inflammation and one of my cholesterol numbers but Dr just said walk at least 30 mins EVERY day and will help cut the extra insulin my body is making and inflammation is to be expected and fish oil for the cholesterol. Not concerned at all -
Just got my bloodwork done at almost 2 months post op and I have numbers jist all over the chart. I have things that were great before showing as higher now, things that were bad before great now.. Dr saying is to be expected with such radical changes to your body and diet, so not too concerned. . Anyone else experience this Banded 7/11/13 44 lbs gone for GOOD!

1 Month Bandiversary - 35 lbs
Bullink replied to fashionstylist's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Looking great! I am 31 lbs loss so far and two days away from my 1 month bandiversary and having a lot of NSV as well! I am training for a 5k as well as light weights to increase my muscle tone and hopefully keep as much of the sagging skin away as possible! Lots of water and lotion! Keep up the good work!! -
Believe it or not all of these have one thing in common! I was banded 7/11 so 23 days ago.. since day 5 post surgery I have been able to burp (thank goodness because when my stomach is empty, I burp, a lot..) I am really not a big fan of hard alcohol or wine. I enjoy a beer or two every once in a blue moon, have read several previous threads with mixed responses and a lot of them warn against beer due to carbonation, but if I am able to burp without any problem does that make it different? Oh only have 5 oz in my band if that makes any difference... dr said ok but expect swelling but surgeons heavily warn against any alcohol due to erosion potential

I got banded on 7/11, was laparoscopic and closed with glue, the glue is dissolving and scabs are coming off with the glue. Am wanting to be able to get in the pool again, not talking about swimming laps, just being in with the kids.. am thinking since scabs do not appear to be anchored to my skin anymore but rather the glue I should be safe? Thoughts?

Newly banded and determined
Bullink replied to Bullink's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thank you for your encouragement! I am walking and have been since right out of surgery, I was implying more to power walking and for longer distances. But I did get out to local grocery store (like super wal-mart) and pick up some eggs and greek yogurt for when I transition into the "sliders" phase of eating. Doc also suggested low sodium broth based soup, of course run it through the blender first to puree everything. So am set for next phase, so happy have only taken one pain and nausea pill all day today -
Hello to everyone out there. Figured I would start off with my story and go from there after all I keep hearing how important it is to have support. I have been heavy, fluffy, plump, overweight whatever you want to call it pretty much all my life. Thankfully it has always been dispersed evenly and proportionally. The past 3 years has been very emotional and chaotic for my family, my father in law, who I adore and is a very big part of our family dynamic was diagnosed with a type of cancer that will never go away, just chemo and various treatment to extend and improve quality of life. This has been very hard and trying for my family but has also brought us much closer. This is a big factor in my decision, I have been thinking about it for years after seeing one of my family members have success with it and my family were all supportive with my decision. I had to miss my best friends wedding due to my surgery date and recovery time was exact same time as her wedding, she was super understanding and supportive as well, hubby went with our youngest who was flower girl and I stayed home recovering. I was banded 7/11/13 so just a few days ago. When I started my lap band journey I weighed 275 and am down to 258 as of this morning. I had 3 months to wait and log my foods before I could submit for insurance to cover it. My BMI had to remain above 40.0 to qualify so I had very small room to loose weight before surgery without going below the BMI. Right now I have a week off for recovery and am getting better each day! Sleeping on my back has gotten easier but am very anxious for when I will be comfortable enough to sleep on my side. Also anxious for when I can be more active. I am determined to look acceptable in a bikini by may 2014.. my in-laws are sending me and hubby on cruise to renew our vows and have honeymoon. Hubby is even thinking about getting banded once he sees what kind of success I have with it.

I just got banded 7/11 and wish you all the luck with it! I keep hearing these first two weeks are the most difficult with the pain of recovery! When are you planning on going back to work? I have a desk job so will be returning to work on 7/18, have 7/19 and 7/21 off as my normal days off so hopefully will be easier to work into it.

Post op day 3 here, banded 7/11/13. The shoulder and neck pain is just the gas from when they blow up your abdomen during surgery starting to escape your body. I have very little pain from that today. Other replies are right the more you walk the better it feels, am down to one pain pill and one anti-nasuea about every 6 or 7 hours or so. The protein shakes is hardest for me to get down, dr wants me to drink at least 48 oz of water a day plus 3 4oz protein shakes a day. I have yet to get to 3 protein shakes a day just because it gets to be too much, water I get between 20-30 oz or so... have helped to sip low sodium chicken broth just as something different to keep hydrated with
