20 days till Surgery and Scared!
bamagurl replied to MACbabyxo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is the 30th of Oct ... I think all of our emotions are pretty normal to be feeling. Should I, shouldn't I, what if's ... try to keep positive. Anytime I need some extra motivation, I stop by this site and start reading posts. Before we know it, our day will be here. I start my liquids on Sunday and I am dreading it ... but I know I can do it! I am mentally and physically committed to making a great change for my health and well being. Good Luck to you!!! -
Surgery Scheduled! Now what did I forget??

I've got my date! October 30th! Hooray! I've completed all of the appointments, waited the mandatory 3 months, read The Big Book on Lap-Band cover to cover, visit lapbandtalk often, all stocked up for my 10 days of protein pre-surgery liver shrinking diet, taken before pics, tape measured and documented my measurements, keeping a positive attitude ... am I forgetting something important? -

I will be able to answer the gas questions for you soon. From what I have read, the gas hangs around a day or two, the more you get up and moving, the better it dissipates ... but that's not personal experiences, getting banded at the end of the month. I did get lap-band specific vitamins that are chewable. I think the last thing we want to attempt after getting banded it swallowing a big old honking vitamin. Everything needs to be crushed or converted to liquids prior to surgery. I think each patient finds out what works for them as they go along. What might work from one, might not work for another ... maybe some of the more experienced banders can better answer for you. This is a wonderful site and has been very helpful for me Good luck Sue Tolly! -
October 10 Surgery Day!!

I am right there with you, life long weight problems and every diet possible. Getting banded on the 30th. Try not to think about the failure aspect ... your band is a tool to help you with your choices. This site has been a powerful motivator for me. I drop in about once a week, and it seems now that I have my surgery date, almost every night. Good luck with your weight loss! I'm sure we have made a great decision! -

I find myself not telling people about my upcoming banding because it always seems there is a negative response ... well this happened to this person, and that person gained everything back and so on ... I find myself responding with things that I learned from reading this site (ie - hair loss, protein shakes, bad choices). Obviously I have done my homework before making such a big decision, but has everyone had this happen?

I am also a patient of Dr Robbins. Scheduled for 30 October. So far I really like the staff there. They have been helpful and answered my questions quickly. I started the process July 8, so just a little more than the 3 months, but my time was truly filled up with making all of my appointments. Be glad to answer any questions that you may have -

Fantastic!!! Thank you for your input! Already made myself a little list for the next visit to the store. -
Had my first meeting with my surgeon today. I went in filled with research knowledge, plenty of questions and eager to continue checking all the boxes that will get me to my surgery day. When he shook my hand and said I am a good candidate ... oh the joy I felt! I guess I was afraid he was going to tell me there was something that would keep me from getting banded. Whew! I'm more excited today than I was when I received my letter of approval from the insurance. Can't wait to get on a great and successful path of losing!

I am also new to the forum. I am in a 3 month waiting period for my surgery and have someone who is banded that recommended this page to me. There is so much helpful and interesting information. I am excited and ready to get banded! Lots of appointments to make but that 3 months will go by quickly, I'm sure.
