After 5 years banded, I want to become a certified fitness instructor but not sure what to study. I was thinking of teaching Spinning or Barre, since these are my 2 favorite classes. Who is a fitness instructor and can guide me? What is your favorite group class at the gym?

Stress and hormonal changes can also trigger temporary hair loss. Either of these conditions may accompany a weight reduction regime. Because a small amount of estrogen is produced in fatty tissue, some individuals may experience hormonal changes with weight loss. Stress can be a factor as new habits and lifestyle changes are implemented and food is no longer used as a coping mechanism. It's normal to lose hair at certain times of the year. You'll notice it more at some times than others, even when you're not dieting. If you're one of the people who tend to have temporary hair loss with dieting, and it's a time when you'd naturally lose some hair, it will certainly be more noticeable to you. Lack of protein and Vitamin supplementation can be a factor for some individuals during weight loss as can a low fat intake. There have been anecdotal reports that adding "Essential Fatty Acids" (also known as EFAs and sold in most health food stores) or oil (such as 1 teaspoon of olive, safflower, flaxseed, soybean, oil per day) to the diet may help, but no well-done studies are available to the best of my knowledge. Digestive enzymes and high-sulfur foods, such as eggs, have also been reported to help. It's also important to drink adequate amounts of Water each day, to keep the body well-hydrated.-http://www.lindora.com/faqs.aspx?faqID=127

I would talk to your doctor about that. I can't imagine your doctor would allow you to drink yet but maybe. Enjoy!!! But don't over do it.

I'm sorry you are dealing with this from you BFF. It was the exact oppposite for me. My BFF has always been skinny and I was always fat. She never looked at me different and always supported me losing weight. When I decided to have surgery, she was and still is my biggest supporter. She supports my weight loss journey, we work out together, and she even supports my Health & Wellness new business. If you two have been friends for over 25 years, I think you should talk to her. If she is jealous, its ok; let her speak her mind and give her a chance to explain how she feels. It doesnt really look like you two have had a conversation about it. Now that you are on this weight loss journey, and were able to get the insurance paid through insurance, support her weight loss journey too. This is the time you BOTH have to be supportive of each other. Its a hard road and its so much more fun with a partner.

How much protein should I have?
Fit4Me replied to honestitriedtofindaname's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you are only 3 weeks post op, I doubt you will be able to do more than the recommended. I say that only because at this stage, you are still not full recovered and not eating normally. Also, there is really no reason to need more than the recommended Protein. -

I am a runner. I've done a few 8k's and mudders. I never thought I would say I love running. I would not count on how many calories you intake and make sure you eat enough Protein after your runs. i would use a tracking app like MyFitnessPal to track how much calories you burn during your runs and make up the difference later in your meals. Before a run, I usually eat something light about an hour before, then after a run, drink a ProFit Protein shake to recover my muscles. My suggestion is to not worry about the calories or track your calories burned to make sure you are getting 1200 a day. PS- Congrats on the running. Its a huge accomplishment.

I will definitely look into that class. I've never heard of it, so I'm curious. So I'm thinking of becoming certified in Spinning or in Barre. So far, my 2 favorite classes. Thank you I am not a fitness instructor but I know that I took a class at my gym called willpower and Grace. It's the best class! It wiped into shape ;I believe it's due to that class that people refer to me as "tiny"

Banded 4 days... Liquid phase is killing me!
Fit4Me replied to Wendydarling19's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This is the worst 2 weeks ever but its all mental. A couple of months ago, I did a 10 day liquid cleanse and the first 3 days were the worst, but once I didnt focus on hunger, I was able to complete my full 10 days. And that was only drinking Water with lemons, nothing else. You can do it. Mix up your taste buds and make sure you are getting your Protein shakes in. When you go from eating whatever you want, to a restriction in 24hrs, it gets frustrating and I feel your pain. I wish I would have know of more things to eat during that phase. I lived on gatorade, Protein Shakes and broth. I suggest you invest in a juicer and nutribullet. I still live off both of these items and make a juice or smoothie every day. Juice some fresh fruti and veggies (for energy), make protein shakes (not too thick, no ice) using almond milk, Peanut Butter & banana (for fullness). Or try with fruit but not any with seeds. Eat sugar free popsicles. Also, eat all types of soups as long as you stay away from the chunky stuff. If you can, make your own soup to help with the high sodium. Believe me, you have way more options than you know. You are probably scared and like all of us, not sure what to eat because we are used to soild food. -

Well, after 5 yrs since my Lap band, I finally had to have my gallbladder removed. At first, I thought it was kidney stones. I had 3 episodes of pain and finally the last one, the pain would not go away. The pain started on my back, and then went to the right side of my stomach near my port. On the last pain episode, my port was poking out so large and it scared me really bad. It turns out, I had a stone blocking the entry, the size of a river rock. I haven't noticed any difference since my gallbladder was removed. For those worried about this, don't be. The worst thing is the pain. I ended having surgery the week of my best friends wedding. I was the maid of honor and had to fly to Miami for the wedding. Lets just say, I got out of the hospital on a Friday at 7am, and was at the airport at 11am drugged up. I almost didnt make it to her wedding and it would have been a huge regret. Lesson of the day: If you experience pain, go straight to the ER or see a doctor. Don't wait for the 3rd time like I did. I know this is a common procedure in WLS patients and I'm now a statistic too. lol

My back pain went away after my gallbladder was removed. I started having back pain about a year ago under my shoulder blade/rib cage. It was only in that area and the pain would come and go. Nothing extremely painful, which made me think it was pain from working out or a pulled muscle. Since my surgery, I now think the pain was do to my gallbladder because the pain is no longer there. Good luck on your surgery. Keep me posted on your back pain.
