Feeling so discouraged
jessiquoi replied to tkwyant's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i agree your doctor sounds unduly prejudiced. i just want to make sure you have your facts straight... do you have Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes? Type 2 can be put into remission with WLS, but Type 1 is forever. -
it's true, the sizes have definitely changed. i have no idea what size i will end up when i finally get out of the Xs! i think it will be a kick to wear anything smaller than a 12, which is the smallest i remember wearing in college.

Need some experienced weight losers
jessiquoi replied to Flaxseed's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
one of the previous posters mentioned that she realized she wouldn't die from being hungry. this helped me too a lot, and here's how i found it out: i had to do Clear liquids only before my endoscopy/colonoscopy for 24 hrs. i was HUNGRY, but i survived. and i even felt GOOD afterwards. so my suggestion is: pick a day that isn't going to be stressful, maybe one where you will be at home, and have a day of just liquids. it will help you prove to yourself that you can do this. it will make you feel lighter, and you will lose a little weight. and after that, you can refer back to the feeling of hunger urging you to eat and remember that you don't HAVE to eat just because you're hungry. just a thought. -
Insurance Question: What does this requirement typically mean?
jessiquoi replied to Redsfan19's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
my pcp wrote a letter stating that i met this requirement. my insurance company has a five year requirement of proof of obesity and weight loss efforts. he hasn't even been my doctor for that long, but he wrote that letter without me even asking. any doctor that you've been seeing can do this for you. they always weigh you each visit, so they have your weight documented. it's worth asking, in my opinion. -
so, my mom usually goes to florida around this time every year (she's a snowbird). since i told her about my surgery, she's put off making her travel plans until after i'm sleeved. now my date has been pushed back to 11/4, and even THAT's still tentative, and she's still in nyc. i want to tell her to go to florida, because she is not able to help me here, and i don't need her to help me here. i have a live-in beau who is a fantastic caretaker, and i'm a 3hr drive away from mom. should i tell her to go to florida, or just let her continue to do whatever she wants to do?

Your response to: "but you aren't 'THAT' big!"
jessiquoi replied to MisforMimi's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
i really think the majority of people who come back with a "you're not that big" comment think they are giving you a compliment. i'm not telling everybody, but i have told my family and my close friends. nobody said "you don't need to do it". an eye-opener, indeed, as a previous poster stated. it also is due to the fact that i only told people who love me unconditionally and see me as a bright and well-educated person. i'm not telling ANYONE who i think has a chance of giving me bad mojo back. however, i'd be very comfortable with "all of my doctors agree that it is necessary". -

November Sleevers, let's buddy up
jessiquoi replied to chicogirl3's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
hi, all. i'm pending insurance approval, and i just got pushed out of october by my surgeon's office because they're now all filled. sigh. tentatively scheduled for 11/4. i am so disappointed, as i was all along on track for either 10/21 or 10/28. the waiting is awful, isn't it? oh well. more time to prepare, i guess. -

pushed from october to november date :( :( :(
jessiquoi posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
just got off the phone with my insurance company to see if i was still pending, and was told that they requested more info from my surgeon on 10/11. called the surgeon and was told they are dealing with it, but now instead of either 10/21 or 10/28, i'm pushed back to 11/4. i'm sad. i'm afraid this may affect my planned trip to AZ for thanksgiving. -
that stinks. i just got off the phone with mine, and was told it's still pending and that they requested additional information from my doctor's office. i called the doctor's office and was told they are handling it, but that now i won't be done in october as was previously planned. totally bummed about having to wait until 11/4.
-
did you call the insurance company? if not, do. i called mine and found out it was still pending. i'm calling again today. i don't have the same plan as you (i'm federal aetna pos) but any insurance company will answer your questions if you're patient enough to go through their "press 1 for ..." stuff.
