    Any November Sleevers?

i was supposed to go visiting family in arizona for thanksgiving, because i was on track for a late october surgery, but since it's been moved to 11/18, i'm going to postpone the trip. turkey broth for me this year!

    AGGRAVATED

i can totally relate. it took three weeks of me calling either the insurance company or the surgeon's office (i alternated, calling one of them every two or three days) before the insurance company gave me the news that i was approved. then i thought i would be scheduled for the next week, and the surgeon was booked through 11/18, so here i am still waiting. it's another step closer, and that's all you can say. be patient, be polite when you call (especially the surgeon's office, no need to tick anyone off there). it will happen, the surgeon doesn't want you to go away.
  3. you DO NOT deserve to be sick and die early!! c'mon, you don't really believe that. i'm in awe that you quit smoking after 20 years! that's amazing, congratulations! why won't you be celebrating your birthday? there are many ways to Celebrate that don't include eating and imbibing. i mean, what's so special about going out on the town, you can do that any day... but how often do you give yourself a gift like you are giving yourself this year? this is the start of a whole new episode in your life, and you deserve to smile and anticipate it happily, looking forward to feeling better, being able to do more, and living to celebrate many more birthdays.
  4. just me, but i wouldn't want to go alone. other people have gone alone and done fine. i think it has to be what you are comfortable with.
  5. rofl! licking the lasagna...
  6. ugh, my office changed their firewall and i can't reach this website easily. what a huge bummer. this morning i woke up and wondered how it would be if it snowed early and heavily and i have to get around in it post-op. the things you think of! i'm 14 days away (11/18) and i am fluctuating madly between wishing it was tomorrow and being scared sh!tless.
  7. you are very much not alone. i try to concentrate just on one thing at a time, the next thing i have to do, and somehow i get through the day. it's hard to focus on one thing when we have so much going on rigth now, but it's good practice to keep trying.

    Type 1 Sleeve

my endo and i discussed this, and she wants me to cut my basal right away and just bolus as i need while i'm home recuperating and figuring out what the new norm is. i'm feeling very comfy with that suggestion. i use a CGM also, so i will do my best to keep me at a safe and comfortable reading. i really don't think being a Type 1 will cause us to lose slower, even though it's really hard to lose weight as a Type 1 normally. i think our more stable blood sugar will help us there.

I lost three employees last week and I can't keep up

extra compensation is a big HA! i work for the government. thanks for all the verbal love, folks. i am sooo looking forward to the time out of the office.
  19. they all got promotions, so i'm very happy for them, but i am now wearing four hats and i can't keep up! i barely go to the potty. the other day i forgot to have lunch, and i have NEVER in my whole life forgotten to eat. the good thing is that it's stopping me from obsessing about my upcoming surgery (11/18!!)

    Type 1 Sleeve

hi! i'm a type 1, and i'm scheduled for 11/18. there's very little on here, i agree, but there are enough of us that someone always answers when we ask a question. my biggest concerns are: 1) going low and not being able to take in enough glucose; and 2) healing slower because, well, i usually do. i'll be happy to share my experiences with you once i have them .
