  1. ?...how would one get a tt if the port is midsection left? I found some relief this am and chewed some sf bubble gum. Tasty! Nothing to eat yet 4 more days. Can't wait to have a glass of milk. I think I need a Protein drink....weak & tired. That'll even taste great. My sugar this am was 238. I am on Clear liquids. So it has to do with my meds. But I don't take my metformin or amaryl just insulin but it's terrible to be so dependant upon this. Will it never go away? I have been a monster amount of pills not just cause of diabetes but other chronic dieases since 1980. I am so sick of taking pills that I could just cry which I've done on many occasions but I realize I am not physically disabled. Still have most of my brain wonderful family and my God. That makes it all worth it but I do feel sorry for myself at times. Anyone else live near Tampa?
  2. What is your weight loss 3 wks out? With preop and 2 day postop am 14 lbs gone. With some of my weight gaining meds this will be a slow go if all else goes well. Good to hear u are feeling good physically. Having any reservations? Or problems? Hope it goes every bit as well. If people only knew....well like the old saying...walk a mile in my shoes. No one will understand unless they have experienced it.
  3. I've had many thoughts like that. Up until the surgery I kept my positive thoughts but I was banded 2 days ago and I feel terrible. I have to take 20-30 pills a day which I'm not because they upset my stomach. Otherwise some gas some pressure some pain. The meds are affecting me because I don't have anything in my stomach. About a dozen small sips of tea a couple bites of popsicle ice chips and 1/4 c chicken broth. That gave me alot of heartburn. But I'm trying to keep a positive outlook. Just a week of this and then 2-3 wks of thicker liquids. Don't keep second guessing yourself. I've always used my weight as a shield against unwanted advances. I've been married 45 years lovingly and mostly happy. So my life was saved by my dh and I need help to bring myself to a personal happiness. Banding has been the only option. Goodluck. Think positive. Your pysche will change along with your body but it doesn't have to be in a negative way.
  4. Thankyou. I've been home since about one. It's now 520p. The doc said it was normal as normal can be. Not alot ofvpain justvdiscomfort. Having alot of burning in my throat. They said they stuck an airway in my throat feels raw from taking my liquid meds now looking for pepsid to help this pain. I slept abour2-3 hrs at home now just trying to get something down that doesn't increase heartburn. But otherwise fine. Will be taking it easy dd comingbin sat to clean house. Dgd will be coming also. She was really worried she kept taking pictures of me. I am so proud. She's a good girl. Take care everyone and thx for being here.
  5. You have to keep up meds. Idk what ur taking but I have flintstone chewables complete...just pop and chew. I take all vit at night so to rest while they get in my system and the next morning feel great. Now tomorrow I get banded so taking everything might be off kilter but I've been taking at least 20-30 pills a day for 30 years so I won't be off them more than a day if that. Be safe .
  6. Hi I normally have depression with my bipolar disorder. And I've spent 30 yrs+getting it completely under control due to alot of things but right now meds. I pray I don't get in a funk that will spiral me down to where I was not even 5 years ago. It's very difficult to make yourself come out of it especially when you have a proneness to depression. So good luck to all of us. This is life changing .... a rebirth of sorts.... a great weight is on our psyche as we do this transformation.
  7. Mine is the 23rd. When do u have to be at hospital? They say it takes about 30 min. Wow! I am nervous and excited. I'm getting pretty sick of shakes and chicken broth but 6 more days. I have meds I takes every four hrs. About 30 altogether but have them either crushable dissolving or liguids I just hope I can swallow okay. Well good luck hope all goes smoothly and pain goes away soon after.
  8. You go for it girl. You'll do just fine. Mine is a week from now. Today am heading for tampa to get my blood workup and all that paperwork out of the way before surgery. So you will be on the other side. Be well. Take those pain meds and remember it's a healthy start to a new life.
  9. Dear. Friends I am in my first week of preop and I'm getting so tired of having only three thins shakes chicken broth iced tea. My second week I might keep busier writing or doing paperwork. I have a sore on the roof of my mouth. I want to eat something. I'm not suppose to have pop but I've had 3 cans this week. My dh won't get me another since so close to surgery. Eat....it's really on my mind.
  10. I've found myself wanting food when I look at it, but not wanting it for very long. I have three protein shakes, 3 cans of chicken broth and inbetween all day long I drink crystal light raspberry tea. I have lost about 8 lbs in 6 days. I have met a plateau. I gained a lb then lost it then gained back 1/2 lbs. so this is just preop. So my medications have a lot to do with my weight and how I lose it or gain it. But the meds I have to take, they are psychiatric drugs for Bipolar disorder and I've been stable for quite a while and I don't want to go back to that black hole. But I do want to lose weight. I try not to dwell on the liquids or what time I'm eating them. Just today I was suppose to have my morning shake at 10 am. I was busy doing paperwork in my office and listening to music and I finished the most part got up and realized it was almost 11a. So I fixed my shake vanilla and banana with ice and water. I have a magic bullet. Anyhow, for breakfast I had chicken broth which gives me another texture and taste, my tea, then a shake about 10a. then chicken broth for lunch, ice tea, then a shake about 3 or 4, ice tea, then another chicken broth about 7 then a shake at 8 and again iced tea. I've come to accept it. I've found I want the food but not bad enough to wreck my chances for a band. I'm not saying I'm all prepared and giving up on everything. I am looking forward to receipes that I can make that will entice me to eat better but regular standbys just made a different way. I'm always researching. So keeping busy with this site or others or just writing, journaling walking, reading and not dwelling has helped me and I'm sure a lot of others. Don't beat yourself up if you cave in and cry, it is a wrenching thing that we've clung to for many years and we can't do without it, but we can control it instead of it controlling us. Get your cry over and start over the next day with renewed faith, strength and resolve. Keep coming back here for support and just to relate. Good luck to all of us.
  11. How are you getting your protein if not in the shakes? I am on preop and started on the 8th. I get banded on the 23rd. I have crystal light raspberry tea, chicken broth, shakes and Water, pills and that's it. Do you get to eat something? I use sometimes, more ice in my shakes just so I have something to crunch on. I'm feeling pretty good. Less cravings, less headaches, feeling satisfied most part. Keeping myself busy. sleeping good at night. Just the bathroom breaks it seems during the day about every 30 min or so sometimes longer. I'm looking forward to the 23rd as I'm sure you are looking forward to yours. Hope your doing well and you keep a positive attitude. But keep coming back here if needing support.
  12. Hi all, I am on my 3rd day preop. I am finding I am getting less hungry as each day passes. I drink something about every 2 hours. Broth, hotter the better, and I smell in the aroma first then drink, my water I guzzle about 4 oz then take sips. I have flavored water which I drink every now and then. Tea I make fresh and have that as my staple. Now my shakes I was putting a 4oz cup (50c.) in my shake to give it volume along with ice. I have a Magic Bullet. But today found myself how the shake would taste without it so I don't add calories to diet. It was good. I try to take 30-45 min. to drink the shake. And the others about 30 minutes. I have found on this my third day I have found my headaches decreasing. I think I might quite a few food allergies which don't break me out in hives but give me headaches instead. So back on postop and eating am going to try things differently and try to eat things that give you allergies, try gluten free bakery items, lactose free milk, etc. I am researching it this two weeks so maybe I'll have it right when the time comes. BTW I have lost 8lbs in two days. I know it is all water loss but still I feel really good this morning. Slept well last night and find myself not looking forward to eating anything just my liquids. I never would have thought. All my worries for nothing. But again this is only my third day. I hope everyone else that has to go preop soon forgets the worries and tries different drinks to help them over the hump and keep themselves busy instead of dwelling on what they could be doing. This afternoon going to a movie. No popcorn. Just iced tea and shake on the drive there and broth when I get home. Good Luck to all. Donna
  13. I am two days into preop. The liquids seem to do well yesterdsy. But headaches...headaches....headaches. Didn't I read something sbout seasalt helping? Ican tae all the meds I need now being on preop, but the headaches after surgery are going to be awful. I didn't sleep real well last night. Either hungry or headache, but tried different areas of the house to sleep, couch, chair, etc and put my head on the cool leather. Helped much. Have a good one everyone.
  14. Well the time is nearing. I started my preop today. I take a lot of meds so I had to make a list out with each one listed and then check it off as I take it, so after surgery I'll have perfected it and won't miss any meds. I should have all of them by the 20th in forms I can take. I'm keeping a journal of the first two weeks then surgery and after surgery. I really want to keep to the program and my memory isn't all that good soooooo.........the list and journaling. I'm going to have my shake about 10 am. when I start feeling really hungry. And I like that idea of the sea salt. I get headaches 24/7/365 everyday, many times a day from tension, migraine, cluster and sinus. I am 63 and started getting the migraines at age 50, had headaches all my life. NOTHING has really helped except a new sinus pill I've found that is soooo big that I probably won't be able to take it after surgery. Doesn't that take the cake.....sorry, just a saying. Hope all goes well for everyone preop and postop. I'm getting my things at least a list ready to take to the hospital. Did you all have to take your medications in with you? I suppose I should because I take pills at 9a, 1p, 5p, 9p. Plus the Vicodin that will hopefully ease the pain. Well as usual spilled over again with the words. I love writing and tell a story. Oh, I have a novel that might be coming out soon on Amazon. Not quite ready to publish but soon. Wish me luck. Kudos to all of us that has taken the plunge and will continue to survive and enjoy the benefits. Donna
